Overall we had an excellent 2day break the food and service was spot on everything was clean and tidy

Check in was easy and speedy. We were informed that there would be live music in the evening but were not informed as to how audible it would be in our room… it finished at 11.27 and we could hear every single line sang which did not mean a relaxing evening for us. The TV signal was really poor so we suggest connecting to the WiFi and streaming. The staff were lovely and helpful but I’m not sure we’d return due to the noise.

We booked a trip to cross off some Wainwrights, a good nights sleep was essential but not achieved unfortunately due to thin floors meaning you can hear every movement from those above. We complained about the noise and were offered to change rooms but we’d of had to wait about until later in the day and pack everything up so declined, as we were wanting to get off on our day trip. Ambleside is our favourite place - we’ve been many times but won’t stay here again. Breakfast was 10/10.

We had a lovely stay (slight prob with details of beds) but the staff sorted without hesitation and a drink on the house while waiting, great customer service..

I liked the location best. It is easy to access and centrally located in town; very walkable. The staff is very attentive and willing to help. Breakfast and other food options are excellent. Parking is not on-site and closest is a paid lot one hundred meters from the inn. Our room was directly above the street and entrance to the inn, so it was a bit noisy. Overall, I recommend Temperance Inn.

Great place to stay can be a bit pricey at the bar. Breakfast was very good and plenty of it. Central location large outside area at rear could be a bit noisy in summer evenings for those who are staying in the cottage. Staff were brilliant especially Alicia very efficient and always pleasant and smiling. I would definitely return and recommend

Friendly staff, easy check in, great atmosphere in the Temperance inn, varied menu, excellent breakfast choice. Great sized bed and bathroom. Enjoyed our stay, would recommend.

The hotel is in a great location, on the main road and is very convenient to explore Ambleside. Long stay car parking is just around the corner. You checkin at the bar and the rooms are accessed via a guest door from the bar. It’s very convenient. We ate in the bar in the evening and the food was very good. Joe checked us in and his customer service is second to none. A credit to the hotel. It rained heavily during our stay and unfortunately the drainpipes could not cope. The water cascading down was VERY noisy. It sounded like it was hitting a drum. So much so it woke us both up and we had to download a white noise app to get back to sleep. That was the only thing. I guess normally though you would get a good nights sleep.

Hotel bar was a lovely area, we stayed in a cottage room at the back of the property which was rather noisy from the beer garden. The bedroom was small and steps down to a bathroom which also was cramped and had a musty smell to it. No towels in the room on arrival. Some staff were quite rude and not very helpful. The breakfast waitress next morning was absolutely lovely and extremely helpful. Breakfast was lovely too. Unfortunately not in a rush to go back.

A good centrally based hotel in Ambleside - staff friendly rooms were clean and in good condition. Paid parking available 100m along the road. Local shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. Only niggles - guy snoring in the next room was very audible and shampoo dispenser in shower didn't work. Otherwise a good relaxing stay in a lovely town. And the weather was cold but perfect!

Staff were great, friendly and happy to help, we didn't eat food at the hotel as we wanted to explore so we cannot comment on this. I wasn't keen on the full english breakfast, more small english breakfast, however considering the cost of the stay and my full english breakfast snobbery the hotel offered alternatives, we could have stayed eleswhere at a well known chain paid an extra £25 but where is the fun in that.

Really enjoyed our brief stay . The staff were exteremly friendly , everything was spotlessly clean and there was a great atmosphere in the pub / restaurant in the evening . Minor downsides were that fact that our room was on the 4th. floor and there is no lift , there's no on site parking and , perhaps , there could have been a greater selection of cereals for breakfast but , hey , that's being rather " picky " .

Very nice hotel. Room was very well appointed with towel dryer, opening window for fresh air and a great personal view of the town. Staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Great full breakfast with eggs royale with salmon and hollandaise sauce. Only 2 items to consider - stairs only to the rooms and parking is the public car park. We did not mind these, so are looking forward to coming back for another visit one day.

Stayed at other hotels within the Inn Collection group and found the Temperance to be of a similar good standard. Slightly disappointed that there wasn’t any fruit salad on offer for breakfast, which is unusual?

Great location, good breakfast and evening meal. The breakfast female staff were very polite and helpful. Room was good in terms of amenities (hairdryer, kettle, iron, safe, good wifi, etc.) but very hot and stuffy (top floor); also no daily cleaning provided or instructions what to do with a full bin. Great they provide a fan in a room as otherwise would be unbearable. The main issue for me was the live band playing on Fri night (very loud, even on the top floor you could hear the music and shouting until lime 11.30pm) as I had a hiking event next day and had to be awake before 6am; i wish the live band info was communicated on the webiste before i made a booking or just after I made a booking and not at the point of check in when it's too late to make alternative attangements. Also take into account (in case you have any mobility issues or injuries) that there is no lift so you have to carry your luggage up and down the stairs.
