Hotel ignored emails I sent to them before the trip on both occasions.
Room was right above a building site, cement lorry's making noise early every 15 mins from 4am!
With a large flood light outside the window
Room table and floor desk lamps bad electrical connectors, elec arcing. Toilet roll holder about to fall off wall .
Two plus points , Breakfast was nice and we were warmly welcomed. And the spar was nice.
This is the first hotel ever that I have stayed at, That never asked or was interested in my stay at checkout .

Very good 👍

It was ok, clean and comfortable

Super comfy, spacious room, fabulous shower, great location in that it’s super close to the station. There was a miscommunication about breakfast, it was pretty pricey to add on but was quite nice. They looked after our bags for the day at no charge though and overall we were delighted, would stay again.
I have read bad reviews about the location but we thought it was fine. They are doing some construction but it was an easy walk into town and we felt perfectly safe walking about with our young son. It’s clearly an area for people from diverse backgrounds a that made it interesting! I saw a lot less homeless people than I did in Paris or Edinburgh.

Hotel is centrally located. Yes there is extensive construction & some areas that are a bit smelly but in London - this is common for alot of stations so it's not unique to Brussels Midi/Zuid. As a female didnt find the area sketchy. I think some people have confused sketchy with the demography.
Walk is 5 - 7 mins (TIP closest exit Haagen Daaz / Pokawa one, through bus station cross over a couple of roads, then turn right where the Espace market is).
Hotel itself is mostly fine. 25 min walk to the more famous downtown area with Manneken, Grand Palace etc.
Had a couple of weird instances though -
1. Had Do Not Disturb sign on the door. Called at 1045am after my 1st night saying they wanted to clean room. Queried the call as had DND & also was only there for 2 nights. First time I've been disturbed after DND on door.
2. On arrival at 12.45pm, told "NO rooms were ready, check in is at 2pm". Asked her to confirm absolutely NO rooms were available & she confirmed this. Advised that my friend had checked in at 11.15am (90 mins ago). She then proceeded to quiz me about my friend - room no, name. Once confirmed that I wasnt lying (WTH?!) she suddenly found a room & let me check in. Only difference between me & friend is our backgrounds. All other members of staff were pleasant but one lady needs a refresh on her customer service training. It's one thing to say "check in is at 2" & you apply that universally but she lied to my face & backtracked when I called her bluff. Odd!

Very nice rooms and friendly helpful staff.

Lovely hotel but the location lets it down. There is currently lots of construction work on the road network around the train station and the hotel. Approx 25 mins walk to the main city although you can get the Metro
10.0
The hotel was great. The area around was under construction. The location was close to lots of places to see if you like to walk.
4.0
Lovely hotel, rooms big with tea/coffee facilities and good choice for breakfast. The only bad point is there is tram work going on outside and the area is not that good, a lot of beggars etc in street and men walking about.

Location, walking distance to the Brussels midi. Clean and big room

The hotel was excellent. New conditions and modern. Area around the hotel and train station has gotten very dirty, degraded and filled with empty store fronts.
4.0
The area was very sketchy. You felt the nsafe walking around.
The woman we dealt with at the front desk was rude and made you feel very unwelcome.

Nice hotel would stay there again

Hotel clean/nice/friendly but just in the wrong location. Loads of work around the hotel going on, looks like hasnt been worked on for ages.
Room great but air con kept timing out, not good through the night.

It's like night and day from stepping off the street and into the hotel. The hotel is modern and clean and staff are great. My room was large with big windows looking to a courtyard and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast has a great assortment of food. Outside the sidewalks and streets are torn up with construction, dirty, noisy and I did not feel safe as an older female solo traveler. It is a convenient 10 minute walk to the Brussels Zuid/Midi central train station just be on guard in the neighborhood. It's not a place where one strolls around looking for a nice restaurant or some shopping. Go to the train station for quick food or shopping or take the metro elsewhere.

Good hotel. Nice neighborhood

Great staff. Very helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Area around the hotel was very suspicious. Alot of people just hanging outside and stare at you. Definately not ho outside at night. Otherwise perfect

1 star removed for works going on outside the hotel. Great breakfast and easy access to train station and surrounding attractions.
2.0
The hotel was nice , the location very close to train station and one of the bus stops from the airport
Location- outside the streets are under construction a massive opetation is happening there
The hotel itself staff great very friendly, room nice
It would have been a good stay if it was not for the noise the first day , not even the noise you could actually feel the music booming through your body it was so loud , no chance for sleep after traveling which probably had a knock on affect for our stay
It was so loud i actually took video in the room and you would have thought the music was blasting from our room!
4.0
Next to train station, but good hotel with modern amenities for a quick stay.

Nice hotel, great service, walking distance to town. Not the greatest area, tv, phone didn’t work in room

The hotel is very nice. Don't be concerned with the outside. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Hotel staff are great and the included buffet breakfast was very good. The hotel is only a couple minute walk away from the train station so very convenient. The current challenge for the hotel is the construction out front. However our room overlooked the construction and there was no noise. Hotel is good value.
4.0
Location is good and convenience, just few mins walk from the Brussels Midi station. However there is a big construction project nearby the hotel, seemed many small shops been closing down along the road.
10.0
All good apart from the area being grubby and rough.
8.0
Great friendly hotel but the road works outside are a drawback

Stayed for one night. Room is okay and comfortable, staff friendly service. Hotel is close to train station although a lot of construction at the moment means area is not the nicest especially at night.

All good

Everything about the hotel itself is great.
Nice bar in the lobby. Quality room service served 24/7. Very clean hotel and clean spacious room.
Unfortunately this neighborhood has become awful. Does not feel comfortable to walka round. Feeling like you are going to get jumped by a non desired.
Constantly reminded to watch for pick pockets, dirty area.
We watched a Muslim homeless man, take a $#!t just outside the hotel.
The area is over with migrants.

Hotel was very nice and clean, but the location was not good at all. The neighborhood did not look safe at all
5.0
The room we stayed in was big and clean. Bathroom was very big too. We found beds bit hard but still not too bad. Hotel location is good as in closer to the Midi station but the immediate road outside the hotel was not very nice. I suppose hotel cannot control that. The only negative thing about the hotel I would say is that the breakfast was very minimal and repetitive. One day they even said we’ve run out of croissants. Really need to be a bit more creative there. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

There is just 5 minutes walking distance from Brussels Midi to the hotel but tough walking with luggage due to the uneven stone pathway and terrible surroundings with lots of rubbish and uncertain security. The hotel is comfortable and has spacious room, but without usb plug which is very inconvenient if you have a few electronic device to be charged.
10.0
The property itself was perfect, clean and friendly. When we arrived our taxi driver could not get us all the way to the door. He said to be careful it was not a safe area. Walking down the alley way to the hotel felt unsafe. There was construction going on just outside which made it feel less safe. Once inside it was beautiful and safe. I liked the added safety inside with needing to use our room key to use the elevator.

Environment was ... under construction

Nice hotel with good staff.Convenient but
night time not an over comfortable area.

Convenient to station.
Bathroom towels could be upgr fed.

Just outside the property there was construction going on and the area seemed a little rough, but inside felt secure, well taken care of, and staff were friendly.
5.0
I was nervous when I arrived due to the building work taking place in front of the hotel but inside the hotel is perfect and there was no noise even though I was facing that side of the building. The standard is exactly what you would expect of a Mercure. The rooms are lovely and the staff are very helpful
10.0
The hotel was super close to the train station and an easy walk to the grand place and all the restaurants. The staff was very helpful. The room was modern and clean. There is so much construction throughout Brussels, including in front of the hotel.
8.0
Hotel is a bright spot in the neighborhood. Dining variety not a priority in this area, the midi train station became our go to for a reasonably priced breakfast and quick shopping trips. Many more small shops closed in the vicinity than I expected as well. Incredible amount of construction going on around the hotel for new tram lines (April ‘24) so street upkeep and trash removal is not a city priority either. All that being said, the location is great for getting on a tram or train and heading up town for your more touristy destinations.
