Amazing location, friendly staff, room was great and the bar area was lovely. Only thing I would say is the rooms were very hot and we couldn’t find a way of changing the temperature

Not sure why I was put into an accessible room - meant that there was no surface space for toiletries and the sink was very low and I am only 5ft 4. The pillows were extremely thick and hard and the room was boiling hot, couldn't work the in room aircon/fan. The bathroom sink was dirty with brown stains. Disposal cups and drinks stirrers as opposed to china cups and metal spoons. Seems very un eco-friendly. Good location to the trainstation
4.5
Welcoming staff, efficient checkin. Room was nice if a little lacklustre- the plain white textured walls felt a bit dreary.
No mugs only paper cups which was a shame. I had a double which was actually two twins next to each other and i did sink into the middle dip a bit but generally a comfy bed. Double window system blocked out noise very well even though on a busy street opposite train station.

We stayed at Motel One Edinburgh and unfortunately had an unpleasant experience with theft. Two pairs of shoes were stolen from our room, and although we reported it immediately, we received no support or compensation from the hotel. The front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. The issue was with management, who promised follow-up but never reached out or offered any solution.
We understand that theft can happen, but we expected better follow-up from management to look after their guests in such situations. Overall, we definitely do not recommend this hotel.

Perfect location! A stone throw away from shopping and just walk over the bridge to Old Town. 4 minutes walk to the buses that go directly to the airport.
Friendly and welcoming staff! Due to early arrival they accommodated us with a room already upon our arrival in the morning. Reception staff made us feel welcome and through the hotel we experienced everyone being happy and friendly.
The room was clean and had comfortable beds.
The view from the breakfast and bar area was overlooking The Balmoral and the Old Town, which was beautiful as we sat in a window nook.
Beside all the beautiful locations across the Old Town, take a 10-15 min stroll to Calton Hill before sunset where you have a beautiful view of the Highlands and Edinburgh.
Highly recommend the hotel as it was near everything and had a good price compared to other hotels in the area.

Always welcoming, clean, quiet, all fine

Excellent location, modern bar ( service not good) , room adequate, right on Princes Street, ok for short stays!!
4.5
Quality hotel in a great location. Decent sized room with good amenities at hotel. Continental breakfast (although not included) was very good and convenient. Excellent bartenders and cocktails, as well as great views from the lounge!
4.5
Good central hotel. Quick access to Waverley Rail Station
4.5
Good points: the hotel and rooms are very clean, the bed is comfortable, the location is great and the staff are polite and friendly.
Bad points: the room was very hot, with the air conditioning providing very little air. The window opens about 3-4 inches, but not much airflow from that, as the window is in a small courtyard facing other rooms (so no views at all either, although I was not expecting them).
The room was very basic. The design/deco was not very welcoming (all walls plain white) and the room was quite small. There was no side tables, so telephone charging and water bottle (which we bought) had to be put on the floor.
No water glasses, only some disposable cups for coffee/tea.
The bathroom was very clean, but very small and no good pressure from the shower.
Overall, I don't think it was good value.

Very central and convenient

Very central to the Royal Mile and Waverley train station. The room was small, but had everything we needed and nice quality bathroom fixtures. Breakfast was outstanding. Many cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops conveniently located nearby. It took the airlines three days to deliver our luggage and during that time the motel one staff was amazing. Very attentive and helpful and we certainly would come back.

amazing location so convenient
Staffs are very helpful and kind
4.5
Great location, but not the best quality hotel considering the price.
If you book through hotels.com you will get an accessible room, not great if you don’t require everything on a lower level.
You can find better in down the price in Edinburgh

Found this room at last minute. Price for 1 night was reasonable.

A very brief stay, didn't arrive until late in the afternoon and checked out the next morning. Lovely welcome, recognised my booking requests for fluffy pillows and quiet room. Staff very friendly, polite and helpful. Everyone speaks to you which is lovely. Comfortable room and facilities and would definately stay again
4.5
Perfect location. Easy tram access, close to everything. Highly enjoyable and accomodating.
4.5
Great location and easy to locate. Not a lot of interaction from staff, felt a bit like “ a room and a number “ and expensive for what you get
4.5
Convenient location, comfortable room, friendly staff!

Beautiful hotel and location was superb! We were right in the middle of the city center and we were able to walk everywhere. We only had two days in Edinburgh but very happy we picked this hotel! Check in and checkout was fast. We arrived at the hotel at 9am and we were able to check in beforehand. Rooms were clean and quiet. Definitely recommend for anyone staying in Edinburgh!

This hotel has a GREAT location. Situated in a nice old building, right across from the train station, it is perfect for visiting Edinburgh.
But the rooms are small and very basic.
Bathrooms are simple to a minimum. Not enough space for cupboards, hanging clothes or hooks. We used the small table for our suitcase (add racks maybe). No fridge.
The AC is not like American standards.
Okay choice for the value.
4.5
The room was very hot & stuffy. The air conditioning was poor. Otherwise it was great!
4.5
Motel One is ideally located for walks to all the major sites of Edinburgh and the train station for traveling around Scotland and England.
4.5
I don’t know why this is rated a 9/10. The lobby is nice enough but our room was old and run down. The brown dingy carpet just felt gross! I wouldn’t stay here again.
4.5
Overall we had a pretty good stay.
Pros: great location for sightseeing, friendly and helpful staff, very convenient connection by Airlink bus from the airport (a 3 min walk from Waverly stop), cozy lobby.
Cons: room felt bare - not a single shelf in the bathroom or in the room; lack of recycling containers.
Felt a bit overpriced for what it offered. But I guess that‘s Edinburgh in July.

Excellent location!
4.5
Easy to find. Great location. Very close to the tram to the airport
4.5
Good location for work or pleasure. Hotel is fine but room was a bit hot and not the best insulated for noise. 1 night was fine for one person but wouldn’t want to be here as a couple or for longer than 1 night. Fair value.
4.5
The place was very nice, super clean and comfortable. The employees were all attentive and helpful. We end up having breakfast one morning and it was worth it. The location is perfect to walk around the city.
4.5
Bathroon was a bit dirty, dust on the floor which looked like it had been there a while.
View was poor as it looked over to a youth hostel and pub, so noise was loud, even though i was with a child.
4.5
Rooms very basic. Expected better rooms.
4.5
Rooms teeny
4.5
Clean hotel, friendly staff.
4.5
The rooms are very small, stuffy and uncomfortable. The pictures are misleading. The hotel was covered in scaffolding.
AC was not working.
would not recommend.
4.5
Last minute booking. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and my stay was a delight.
4.5
The location was very convenient only a few minutes from Edinburgh Waverley station.
I wasn’t very much impressed with the room though. There was no safe in the room. Also tea coffee cups were paper ones, which felt a bit cheap! Over all it was very very basic.
4.5
The staff was very friendly and when we asked if we could drop off our luggage early they let us check in very early. It’s so close to everything and was really quiet. It’s being renovated and that made it a bit harder to find, but extra signs were hung up. Everything was really great. And very quiet.
4.5
The hotel is nothing special. Excellent staff and the rooms are clean, not to mention it’s in the best location in the city! However, the rooms are bare bones and not kept up. There is no fridge, no body lotion, not microwave, and no safe inside the room. We didn’t get any water in the room either. As I said before, the staff are excellent and are very sweet. If you’re only here for a short stay you can get through it but I wouldn’t pick this hotel for a long stay than 2-3 days.
4.5
Great location
And hotel was good
Very noisy at the moment fit to work happening around the hotel
4.5
We were competing with Taylor Swift fans so the room was quite expensive but it was located within walking distance of everything we wanted to do and see in Edinburgh. Also just steps away from buses and trains.
