Our second time staying at this property, we even had the very same cabin. Steve, the host was fantastic. He made it nice and simple for our late arrival and popped in to check if we needed anything in the morning.
We will absolutely stay here again. Fantastic location surrounded by nature. Thanks again Steve.

It's in a magical location with a special atmosphere all of it's own. If you look past the cobwebs, spiders and walls in desperate need of a paint, the important amenities (sheets, kitchen, floor, toilet) were clean.
An enjoyable stay!

After our room had been given to another party the owner did correct this. The chalet was filthy. Dust, mould, filthy dush brush, spiders in the bathroom, stain on the bunk sheet, broken window latch meant we couldnt shut it, door didnt lock. The room was warm with 2x heaters and the area quiet apart from mice in the ceiling at night.

Cute little cabin and had everything we needed but thick cobwebs inside the windows with spiders, dirty inside window frames and kitchen shelves, some dirty and smelly towels, some dishes dirty, outside furniture and deck mildew - could have easily been a wonderful stay but this made it very average. Sorry guys, someone needs to give Cabin 2 a good clean and then it would be wonderful.

Our family loved our stay in one of the cute cottages. It had a pretty outlook. The owner is very friendly and happy to answer any questions. It is very well located to visit near by beautiful beaches and many other tourist sites.

This is a Bach style accommodation all separate units in a large garden/ field, has an out door bbq. Units are basic but were clean with good shower and plenty of hot water.

A most friendly host and quaint surroundings, with simple amenities. The beautiful surroundings, the pizza oven [with host providing the pizza dough] and clustered cottages made for a cosy ‘community’ feel. Given the price range one could not complain. The Sandcastle offers comfortable, toasty warm accommodation on a budget.

Love the surroundings, the relaxing feel about the property, the ability to have your dog there, (a pity we didn't have our one) The style of the accommodation, you really felt like you were on holiday in the batch style of accommodation

Despite there being no-one at reception when we arrived at 3:30pm we eventually raised the proprietor by sounding the car horn !!We loved the peaceful surroundings and the little cottage had everything we needed and was well maintained and clean. The bed was comfortable and we slept well.

The setting of the cottages is really magical as they are all facing a pretty little bridge. The cottages themselves, although basic, have a really homely and cosy feel to them. The facilities are brilliant too with a sauna. We ordered breakfast and that was amazing we got so much food and it was good value. The owner was also very laid back about the check out time which made our last morning there very relaxing.

We stayed 3 nights. Our hosts were lovely. The cottages are a bit out dated, but the beds are good, the wifi works well. You can order breakfast, this is really nice: home made mutton sausages, homemade bread. Croissants, jam,... great value for money.

We had a great stay at The Sandcastle. The set up is ideal for a small family or 2. Great classic kiwi batch style of accommodation. Probably not what youre after if you want the 5 star experience, but the cottages were adequately supplied and the staff are super friendly. Great location a short drive/walk to the beach and in a nice quiet and private spot. Good location to access rest of golden bay.

Sadly our stay was disappointing from beginning to end. To start, we didnt get the room we booked. We booked for two double beds but ended up with one double and bunk beds. Not ideal when I was travelling with my mother. For the first night I slept in the bunk beds - but the sheets were not fresh! The owner had assumed a couple was staying and therefore that the bunks wouldnt be used. Why assume something like that! And why leave dirty sheets on a bed whether the owners thought it would be slept in or not! That was a really bad start and frankly nothing improved. The cabin was dirty - the bathroom needed a good clean and there were piles of dust and hair sitting in most corners. The free toiletries was actually a plain bar of soap - nothing else - so I think they are wrong to say they offer toiletries. There was no privacy: There was either a net curtain or no curtain at all at each window. The list of bad points goes on... All in all this is a very grubby place which needs improving ASAP. I told the owner my thoughts and he was apologetic but didnt offer anything in the way of partial refund for not getting what we paid for. Very disappointing. These people have a lot to learn about what it takes to run an establishment to a good standard. For all the people who have left positive reviews - I dread to think how dirty their houses are if they think The Sandcastle is clean and tidy.

This is very basic accomodation. It is in a quiet bush setting. Local cafes are good. Especially Plan B.

This is a cool and quirky property and we really enjoyed our stay. There is no Wi-Fi in the rooms, only near the main house. There is a lot of space and it is really well maintained. A great jumping-off point for adventure in the area!

Fabulous one night getaway to explore Abel Tasman national park. Our hut was very well equipped with everything we needed. Steve the owner was brilliant, with a friendly welcome and very helpful ensuring we got the most out of our stay. We would recommend for couples and families.
