Arrived a bit late right after 8pm. Missed part of hotel dinner process, and there is no other options in the town. We were glad they could accommodateed us in. The room is old style. Lack of convenient electric outlets. Shower is really simple, just a curtain, and very small.

Location stuuning and rich history of the area provided at hotel, which I loved!. While I recognize that this is a historic home, there are simple upgrades that should be done for basic confort of guests. The room we stayed in had stained beds (base of fabric bed) and pulls/tears on "mattress" (matress topper by US standards) which was by far the most uncomfortable one we slept on in our 16 day trip through Norway, walls paper thin literally heard the man in the next room snoring all night and people throughout the hotel walking about, lastly the bathroom sink was actually in the shower...odd and awkward to shower in. We stayed in two other historic properties on our trip and none of these challenges were present. For the high price of this hotel, some further considerations should be made.

Shabby and quite expensive. Staff are great though

FANTASTIC hospitality! Amazing chef!!

Great spot to stay tiny historic hotel. Great staff and had an excellent 3 course dinner they prepared with wine offerings. Rooms are tiny and no sound proofing but that’s to be expected some in an old rustic building. You will hear everything. I used a white noise machine and it was fine but beware.
4.5
The place was authentic but our room was very small.
We had an excellent dinner and b/fast at the hotel

I loved EVERYTHING about my stay with one caveat - there is only one dining option in Fjærland- the hotel.
The breakfast buffet, included in the room, was great.
The 3 course dinner was good, but not great and
extremely expensive. Nearly $100 without beverage.

Beautiful hotel in an area with limited activities.

Very relaxing place to stay. Beautiful lounge area to look out over the fjord, and dinner was excellent.

I loved my room. I had the library room and it felt like being surrounded by friends. I need to put bookshelves in my bedroom just like this. The food was amazing. I adored the ratatouille. The staff were very pleasant. I highly recommend this place.
4.5
Absolutely wonderful stay, the staff was friendly and welcoming, knowledgeable about the area and activities, the room was clean and comfortable, the lounge and restaurant were thoughtfully designed and a wonderful and peaceful place to take in the scenery and relax. Dinner was outstanding, highly recommend staying at least two nights and enjoying dinner both nights. Cannot recommend enough, this was a very pleasant stay.

Really enjoyed the evening discussion about the history of the property! Food was extremely good!! Staff was very friendly and courteous! The area is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen- and the fact that the hotel is in a book city puts this in the 6 star category. Absolutely amazing all around!!!

Wonderful staff in an absolutely stunning setting.

Charming high end B&B style hotel

Beautiful place Landmark. Lots of history. Very cozy

Beautiful view and location for seeing fjord and glaciers. Hotel rooms are very small and ours had slanted attic style ceiling, so my 6 foot son kept hitting his head. Included breakfast was amazing.

Quirky characterful property with a stunning location right on the fjord.
We stayed 1 night on our 2 week trip around Southern Norway and had a "compact" room which had a lot of character (I hadn't slept in a library before!).
Excellent 3 course dinner using local produce.

Although the location is a bit out of the way, that's the point. It is located on a fjord in a beautiful location. The staff is lovely and the food is high quality. Great breakfast!

First impression was not good! Construction going on in the front of the hotel so had to carry bags all the way around the back and up stairs to get into the building. They put us in a room on the second floor over dining area which was very noisy. Not a good sign when they provide you with earplugs in the room. You definitely need them! Walls are paper thin so if you like to sleep this is not the hotel for you. You hear everything! Yes, it is very charming and the people are super friendly. Dinner was good but you only have 1 choice and that’s whatever they decide that evening. One disappointment at dinner no fresh greens which I think would be easy for them to provide you with a salad with dinner. Breakfast was very limited. They ran out of eggs our second morning. I bought my own bananas and kiwi at the store and sliced them with the yogurt they provided, since they only had whole apples and pears. Bathrooms are tiny and towel’s definitely need to be upgraded, worst I’ve seen in a hotel that charges $275 a night. Again the construction was very disappointing and really should have let people know before we booked the hotel. If you think you are going to relax in a quiet setting on the beautiful fjord not so much when you have saws and drills in the background at your hotel. They should have discounted all rooms during the construction because you couldn’t even sit outside to enjoy the area without the construction noise. Hot tub also under construction.

Just excellent. Great accommodations, view of fjord precious. Breakfast outstanding. We also had dinner which was a gourmet treat. Basically a cozy inn.

It was a beautiful location and wonderful experience. Would highly recommend it.

Funky old historic house in tiny Fjord village with great breakfast and dinner!
If you like old eclectic homes with squeaky boards, ancient artwork and stunning views this is the place for you! The staff are unbelievable and share nightly stories about their village and community of 340 people! The food was way above our expectations both for the breakfast and dinner. They also have a fully functioning bar and lounge area (the only
One in town). The town doesn’t have much but it’s in a great location for day trips to the infamous glaciers and other beautiful hikes

The history was fascinating.
Breakfast wonderful.
Again the views were outstanding. Loved book-town!

The property is very old but has been updated as much as possible without losing the character that makes it so charming. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the views are exceptional and the food is delicious. The bedrooms are small but comfortable. The hotel is small and quiet.

I stayed in a single room at the Fjaerland Fjordstove for one night. My room was clean but felt old as this is an older hotel. I had a beautiful view of the fjord which makes up for the older room. It was very loud as I could hear others talking, walking, turning on the water, etc. I had to sleep with ear plugs in. It's located on a beautiful fjord and quiet town - for location alone, I loved it! They had an amazing breakfast spread that is included. I would come back just for the breakfast!

Cute little town that and was worth the beautiful drive to get there. We had a family room with a beautiful fjord view (see photo). The hotel was charming and staff friendly & helpful. I rarely take the time to review but we had such a wonderful experience that I felt the need to.

We just stayed in room 109 with our two daughters. I can't think of words adequate enough to describe the setting and our enjoyment in this lovely hotel. It harkens back to another era. The owner gives an informal speech every evening in the fm drawing room about the history of the hotel, Fjaerland, and the local geology...then the dining room doors swing open and guests are invited to enter. The food is top quality and locally sourced. There are boats and bicycles to use. Do yourself a favor and stay more than one night. We wish we had!

Amazing location along the fjord with very friendly service and a good chef. Wonderful atmosphere with a a unique proprietor. Bring your blinders and ear plugs as this is an old hotel with modest sound insulation and very bright early morning sun.

The hotel was very comfort and romantic. Dinner was also perfact. Especially, I really enjoyed pumpkin soup. Most of all, crue of the hotel were so nice and kind.

The hotel host was very friendly and provided us with a very warm welcome. The room is clean and tidy. The 3 courses dinner there tasted very good and definitely worth the money. The only disadvantage would be the noise problem in room though ear plugs are provided.
