A great YHA. Was busy and a wide range of guests - families, couples, young, old. Great to see YHA thriving

Really nice hostel in a cool old farm building. The onsite facilities were great. Good food and nice selection of drinks.
The staff were really helpful and pleasant. Shout out to Rachel in particular, she was really good at her job.

I was unwell from recent heart surgery- couldn't change the booking with 2 days notice due to Expedia's rules. Shame as it was alot of money to me and my first planned hotel visit since surgery.

Stop off for a weekend of walking in the Peak District. For the price was expecting bare minimum. Above and beyond

It was my second time I stayed in this hostel, and definitely will book it again. This is not only because of the location, which is perfect, but also because it's a lovely place to stay. All the staff members are lovely, friendly and professional. The rooms and communal area are clean, and well maintained. There's a restaurant in the main building offering breakfast and evening meals, and the kitchen located in a seperate building, for those who prefer to cook their own meals. The car park is rather small but you can park your car on the road, which is perfectly safe.

This hostel is wonderful. It is large but the bedrooms are large too so we didn’t feel cramped at all. The kitchen is excellent (All-be-it smallish for the number of people). The drying room is fantastic - dries sopping clothes overnight. The only negative was the mattresses - we’ve stayed in a lot of places & are not overly fussy but we had sore backs from these mattresses. There was a big hollow in mine.
Also, as usual, don’t leave valuables in the car overnight - there was a van broken into while we were there.
Otherwise, great place to stay.

I use histels very often when on my travels as I always travel on a budget, and I have to say, this is a very high standard hostel, perfect for families and adults. The restaurant serves lovely food, the staff was friendly and helpful. There was a shower and a basin in my single room, which was a great bonus, the bed was comfy. The only minus during my stay was no signal/reception, I wasn't able to make any calls to my family to confirm that I'm safe (I travelled on my own), and the internet, even with the given wifi was simply very poor, so relying on google maps I couldn't plan in details my next day hikes. Other than that, it's a very good place in a perfect location to explore The Peak District.

Very helpfull staff, really nice building & rooms. Onoy spoiled slightly by rowdy school party in the room below (clearly the handlers were down the pub...) but not the fault of YHA. Great facilities beautiful location, why csmp when you can stay at places like this.

If you are into youth hostels this would be a great place to stay. The only thing is if you wanted a nice drink with a friend you are not allowed your own alcohol. Meaning you have to buy theirs!
Not cheap! Staff were fairly friendly. The rooms were clean and tidy.

We booked YHA for a night stay to continue our trip in the morning at the last moment. We did not read any reviews, facilities provided and we had no great expectations on the stay. We reached the destination at around 10:30pm, completely dark beside our vehicle, we have no idea where we are up to. Once reached, we had warm welcome from the receptionist, and directly crashed on our bed. On the morning once woke, we realized, we are in beautiful place, surrounded by lush green nature, great weather, peaceful, the place we stayed is awesome, the morning breakfast was fabulous with reasonable price. We did not like to leave the stay but have to depart with great experience.
I highly recommend YHA Hartington Hall, Buxton, if planning to make a trip to peak district.

Lovely setting. Perfect for using as a base for cycling through the park district. Staff very friendly. Beds comfy, shower good... so good to have a good bike store with locked doors and a rail inside to lock the bike to. Absolute bargain really!

I loved staying in this hostel! It’s in a beautiful location and has great amenities. I was in a separate building to the main one so it was pretty quiet and there was a kitchen in the building with everything you need. Seemed like most of the guests were hikers so everyone was up quite early - if you’re looking for a lie in then you might get woken up!
The bed wasn’t the most comfortable but there was a duvet instead of just sheets which was great in the cold! Having a hot shower en suite was great too after a long hike. It’s nice that there are armchairs and a fire but I didn’t really use them. Didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on it but all the staff were great and very helpful. Amazing value so I will definitely stay here when I next visit the Peak District.
Would be helpful if they could paint lines in the car park as people parked quite selfishly so I had to park up a muddy verge!

We only used the room for literately to sleep in. We was told it was a double bed but was a bunk bed with a double at the bottom. We had many bugs in the room due to the fact the window was open when we checked in. On checking in the woman asked for ID from both of us but my husband had not brought his wallet, she said she would let it go this time? But we was not informed that we would need ID and having stayed in 5* establishments we was a little annoyed

The property is a beautiful manor house with much of the original character. It is a fabulous building with public rooms owned by the YHA. My room was panelĺed with a double bed, sink, origional fireplace, shelving and very small shower enclosure. Wonderful origional wide floorboards and door.I used the library to relax in and the kitchen facilities which are in a seperate courtyard away from the house. One of the best YH l have stayed in. Clean and well kept
