Very central, great food and ambience, open fires to welcome and warm, great place to stay on Hadrians wall

Outstanding service and food quality in a pub with a lonely warm atmosphere.

This was a lovely place to stay. Staff were super friendly, room great, and the whole atmosphere good. A tasty breakfast topped it off. Definitely recommend.

Trip was to see family. During the trip one of was unwell (nothing al all to do with the Hotel).
All the staff at the Howard Arms could not have been more helpful. They put themselves out to help and assist.

Lovely! Great location, hotel accommodation was small (single room) but perfectly laid out & comfortable - staff efficient and friendly - only regret was that i couldn't stay longer - would definitely use again

The staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble.
Food was excellent and served quickly.
Rooms were clean and tidy with tea coffee facilities, very welcome.
The hot water wasn't very hot late at night and early morning but nice once it was hot.

Very friendly staff. Good food. Lovely room.

Great food and drink at the pub and decently comfortable rooms. The place is dog friendly so there were occasionally dog odors but they clearly work hard to minimize them. Would recommend. My only complaint is that I personally didn’t like the air freshener used in the bathroom but I survived ;).

Bathroom is so clean. Bed is narrow, but it is enough for me to sleep. Food and drink are good and convenience.

The rooms are very modern and clean, the food is great and the Howard Arms was our favorite place we stayed on our trip.
Parking is available behind the hotel, but it is on a different road, so make sure you go to the right lot.
We had both dinner and breakfast there and it was fantastic.

Excellent ! Room was clean and comfortable, food wonderful. We had evening meal ( husband loved his fillet steak, myself a lovely pizza) and breakfast filling and tasty.
Would definitely stay again. Highly recommended 👍

Good food and great service, would recommend

The ambiance was perfect and very helpful, friendly staff. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Great pub and food. The location was easily accessible by taxi off Hadrian's Wall Path. Too far to walk to after many miles of hiking from Twice-Brewed Inn. We would have liked to have spent another day in Brampton, but we had to move on.

We arrived when the restaurant was very busy but the attention we received from the staff was excellent to check us in and arrange a table booking

Brampton is a nice little town not far from a range outdoor places to go out and walk around. The staff were very friendly throughout our stay. The rooms were clean and a good size. We had dinner and breakfast in the pub/hotel and the food and drink were great.
During our stay there was a private event with a live band and the pub was having a karaoke night which meant it was very noisy up until midnight. A bit or hustle and bustle is expected in a pub hotel but this was too much. I wish we’d had some warning prior to our stay.

Overall cleanliness in the room although the toilet had signs of previous usage. Friendly staff but they didn't offer to carry my bag up the two flights of stairs (I am obviously elderly). The room was small even for a single but the reasonable rate I paid reflected this. The bed somewhat hard. Sunday evening dinner was a traditional northern roast of overcooked beef and Yorkshire pud!

The room is fine but the hotel is extremely noisy. Noise from the bar went on until after midnight, then you could hear every slight movement in the hotel all night, and there was a boiler or something similar making a strange noise all night from a locked cupboard in the room.

After a 10 mile hike walking along the wall we just wanted to get into our room for a shower and a brew. However upon our arrival (15 minutes beyond the check in time) we were advised that the room was not yet ready. They suggested we have a drink in the bar and once the room was free they would let us know. However after 1 hour we were still waiting so contacted another member of staff who then checked us in. It was obvious we had been forgotten and had we not pursued the matter we would have been waiting even longer. The room was a little smallish (but that is to be expected for a venue in this type of location) but the bed very large and comfortable. Along with the usual team making facilities there was also a coffee pod machine and a bag of sweets to welcome you. The shower area was a reasonable size but in need of a little revamp. Overall the room was very pleasantly decorated and if not for the poor check in we would have had no complaints to report.

Great welcome and friendly staff

What a truly lovely place! The owners and staff are so kind, friendly and fun. The room was beautiful, large and cozy. Couple that with the great pub downstairs it really was a fabulous time. We will be back.

From entering the property there was a warm friendly feeling in a beautiful traditional pub. We were greated by the hosts who were lovely. I feel they went above and beyond the expectations during our stay. Making us very welcome. The rooms were large and clean and had just been updated.
The evening meal was again lovely with homemade chips and pie! Breakfast again was superb.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and will definitely return as the hosts really put the effort in to ensuring you have a pleasant stay.

Stayed and ate here. Really efficient and friendly staff. Food and service was excellent. Room and facilties were spot on.

A pleasant hotel situated about 20 min drive from Carlisle. Staff pleasant & helpful. I didnt eat in the hotel so cant comment on the food. The rooms arent numbered, theyre named after Dickens Characters as its claimed Dickens once stayed at the hotel. Theyre clean and tidy. The only negative is that, being situated in a public house, the hotel is alarmed at night so you have to notify the staff if you intend to be back later than closing time which is fair enough but a bit of a bind as they dont allow you to take your room keys out of the building which in turn means that someone has to wait up to let you in. Other than that, cant really complain about the place.

On arrival it turned out that it was the barmans first day and he had not been briefed in how to check someone in (we werent early or anything either). He was very pleasant and we muddled through it together. The room was clean and comfortable - I discovered the bathrobes in the cupboard the morning after! Some fixtures and fitting a little dated but very functional and comfortable beds. Dinner in the restaurant was disappointing - the food was acceptable, but one order was incorrect and another completely forgotten. Bar and table service very slow. When the plates for our main course were eventually cleared away we asked to see the dessert menu only to be told that the kitchen had closed. They were happy to provide ice cream though. Breakfast was good although leaning to the greasy side - a suspicion that everything had been deep fried. Overall the staff were friendly and we had a pleasant stay, a few minor changes would make a big positive difference.

Good place to start our walk to Hadrian’s Wall. Lovely dog.
