If you want to experience what it is really like to live in the Irish Countryside, this is the perfect place. John, the owner was very friendly and accomodating, and gave us great information about the local area, and things to do. He made us a perfect Irish breakfast and excellent coffee!

John was a wonderful host and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. If you like Downton Abbey you'll love it here. Lovely grounds around the property. Will return when I'm in the area again.

The house and property is gorgeous. Breakfast was delicious and made to order. The only negative was the shower was not working and we were not made aware of that at check-in and they were already aware of the issue.

The rooms and John's hospitality were great.

Great value.

We stayed for only about 5 hours before we had to leave for airport. We had everything we needed. Would have liked to explore more.

The property was nice, rooms clean. Plus the care taker was friendly.

John did a spectacular job at making us feel welcome and would happily recommend due to its location, homely atmosphere and value for money.

The house and garden were beautiful. The manager was super nice and had great recommendations for dining and shopping and made a great breakfast. Enjoyed the stay.

Visiting people locally and needed a place to stay. This is my second visit to Banoge House and it is worth every Penny. Food is good as well and John is most welcoming of hosts.

The lovely house would be suitable to older persons very old fashioned. John seemed to do everything himself missing some detail like shower soap, tea or coffee in the room would have been nice.He was very attendif.

Stayed here at Banoge House for 4 nights
16-20 October was visiting our daughter in a local area who has recently had a baby boy we flew from England to Banoge House in Donacloney. John couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. We are returning again next month for our Grandsons Christening so will be staying there again. from Bognor Regis October 2023

A soon as I arrived John offered me a cup of tea and went out of his way to remember my name. I’ve never been offered a drink on arrival before.I don’t drink tea so he made me a coffee instead. There were no coffee making facilities in the room, but I was offered a kettle and supplies if I wanted them, or I could use the kitchen facilities downstairs. I was told I could have my breakfast anytime I wanted and it was served on time every morning. John is a very hospitable host and nothing is too much trouble. He went out of his way to be a good host and I loved the stories he shared and the humorous way he shared them. The kitchen and dining facilities were in the same room and it was like a family environment. The bed was comfortable, room spacious and bathroom was large with both bath and separate shower and WC. I have never written such a long review before, and I would definitely stay at Banoge House if in the area in the future.

a small double bed with an old soft uncomfortable mattress, no chairs, no coffee no glasses, only one little towel. No bath rug. Not to be recommended

A lot of charm, set in beautiful grounds, away from the hustle of the city and am easy drive to Belfast. Our host, John, was really great and is a wealth of knowledge with ideas and tips on the best things to see and do in Northern Ireland.

If you like quirky stuff then Banoge House is right up your street, all the rooms are decked out in Victorian/Edwardian furniture and pictures and that theme is continued throughout the house.
John the owner is brilliant he is extremely helpfull and cant do enough for you, we will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful old manor house filled with antiques. The gardens are lovely for an evening stroll. John was a friendly, helpful, and entertaining host. Banoge House was an ideal home base while visiting family nearby.

The host is hard working and very friendly, a lovely man. He works hard to ensure a good stay. I would have liked a tv and kettle in the room but he thoughtfully brought me a kettle, cup etc…even 2 little cakes !

There's a lot to like about Banoge House - it's a lovely old place with spacious rooms and a friendly host. You may have a good experience but we had too many negatives to recommend it.
Some issues were minor (for us) - poor wifi, only 1x bath and 1x hand towel for 2x people, no shampoo, a bathroom door that didn't close properly, what looked like cigarette burns on the bed covering. There was no TV in the room - although we didn't mind that.
More significant were a very tired and soft double mattress that I couldn't sleep well in and the lack of a proper shower (only a freestanding bath with a shower attachment and no curtain or cabinet).
Most alarming were the cat faeces in a corridor and the diary left unattended in a guest-accessible area with guests' full card details clearly visible.

had an amazing time here john could,nt have been more helpfull. and what a beautiful house would stay again if we are up that way

A lovely old house with period furniture and decor. Nice garden too. Host was knowledgeable of the area, polite and helpful.

We were bowled over by this place. Four poster bed and a giant bath. Manager really friendly. A quick overnight stop off on our road trip. Just wished we had stayed longer.

The whole guest house has a great ambiance in keeping with an established premises based on the relaxed and comfortable that one would hope for in Northern Island. The bedrooms and lounges were spacious and along with the distinctive welcome I was totally spoilt during my business visit to this area.

We stayed for one night on our roadtrip of Ireland. The hotel was just what we needed. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly.

First off, we found in the details of the listing that nether bed linen nor towels were provided and couldn't get a response from the host if that was true. When we got there, we found the usual bottom sheet and top comforter, same as everywhere else we went in Ireland. There were two suitable towels in the bathroom, but the shower itself was out of order because it had just been regrouted.
It's sort of like staying with relatives in a rambling old house. It seems very big inside, and well decorated with antiques that all appear to have been there for decades.
It wasn't really as quiet as you might expect. There was a loud TV on when we got there and I had to call the host by telephone to get him to come out and check us in. Then when we tried to sleep, television was audible from some where else on the property.
There was a wifi outlet in the room but I neglected to ask for the password and didn't want to call the host on the phone again to ask.
I did see a bug in the room when I put my bags down by the fireplace but it didn't bother me.
The sink in the bathroom had hair in the drain, but neither it nor the room really seemed dirty, just worn.
Good breakfast the next morning, cooked to order.
The house cat was unfriendly.
I think it's a good value for the price and the while the location is sort of out of the way, it was in a good place for us during our drive back to Dublin.

I enjoyed my stay at Bangoe House, great for a stopover passing the area. John very friendly and a good host. Beautiful old house, decorated throughout with antique furniture and the gardens were big and nice to walk around. On the negative side, my ensuite bedroom had no tv or tea/coffee making available and the breakfast was served at a dining table with other guests and was not included in the booking cost (an additional payment).
