Lovely property at the old mill, quiet with a character. Initial mishap was dealt with promptly with no issues. Ideal place for a long weekend.

Trail Lodge is a nice location which has obviously had a lot of money spent on it, but it is let down by attention to detail. We observed a pile of used towels that remained in the corridor for 3 days. The kitchen sink tap was broken and required jamming with a sponge to make it usable. Food that was in the communal kitchen that had been left by previous guests had not been removed. Had these points been addressed, then a much higher score would have been awarded. That said, I would stay here again as the location was just what we wanted and nice and quiet.

I spent 2000 on a room over a year ago. 2:00 checkin. Ferry arrived and showed at 5:30 and LOCKED OUT. My room was sold out from me and 5 of us crammed in a room. I look at this as STEALING. 5 of us were crammed in a room. Be thankful there was some type of lodging, if not I e we old have contacted head administrator of TT, head administrator of IOM, local press and then I’d sic my attorneys on you. Never in my life has sometime this happen.

No reception had to call via the phone number on Hotels.com to contact the host who would then meet you outside. Lovely location but the rooms are very small with very low ceilings. Comfortable bed but the place could do with a touch of style and finesse to make it a 5*.

Love the location, rooms are beautiful and setting is idyllic. The only thing I could say is you have a designated bathroom for each room and our bathroom kept being used by other people staying in the property. Men who don’t clean up after themselves! The room key doesn’t lock the bathroom and all the other bathrooms were being used too for bathroom and showers never a dry/clean bathroom in the morning but not all rooms were occupied so I think both the other guest were just using any tbh not a big deal but we would of preferred to have our own which could be locked? Also found some items under the bunk bed that weren’t from us but not a big deal. All in all fabulous place and location would recommend and definitely return. Please just maybe sort the bathroom situation out but I don’t think this is a reflection on the property owner but the guest using it as each bathroom is named after your room so common sense and respect for other guests.

The area around the lodge is beautiful. Lodge is very well decorated and mostly well maintained (except for the hole in the shower wall and lack of a bathroom fan in the bathroom which is starting to cause a little mould). We were asked to move our food from the fridge on the second to last day into the one upstairs as they were going to be changing the room into another bedroom. This was fine (although a little irritating as the other kitchen is further away) until we were woken up by sawing on the last day. Then drilling- admittedly we were sleeping late but as we were in holiday there I would have thought advanced notice of such works would have been polite. Also the room wasn’t ready when we got there and despite the booking saying that we could book in until 11pm there was no one around to help when we got there at 8pm following a delayed ferry. However this was soon rectified and the owner had it ready by the time we returned to the lodge after going to visit family. Cafe closes at 4:30 so really only a lunchtime or late breakfast option.

Worse holiday I booked in my life, arrived to the lodge, get checked in, 10min later a man degged in while we are sleeping asking us to leave cos Expedia made a mistake of double booking. We couldn't find a ferry home we found ourselves in the street or in some deggy hotel

Expensive for accommodation where you have to walk to the facilities through general thorough fare. Would expect toilet to be within accommodation..

Great lodge for anyone who loves the outdoors. Cosy rooms with very comfy beds. Anyone around 6ft and over needs to take care underneath the wooden beams (but low ceilings are common in these old farm type buildings).

Very good standard of equipment, reminded me of a shared ski chalet. In a quiet pretty setting with plenty of parking and with local shops within walking distance.

All the rooms have extremely heavy doors that slam shut. This happens all night and day. Completely rattled the entire building. There was also no coffee or tea in the room. We did not see any staff, besides the cafe workers in 4 days.

Loved the location and room, never got to meet any staff though.
