About this house rental
Nestled at the edge of Seaside in Sand City (population 372), this home rates a major WOW. (Or two or three.) The upper level features a swoon-worthy kitchen, dining for eight, a living room with a large TV and fireplace, a master suite (with a private bath and walk-in shower), a powder room, laundry, and the piece de resistance: a covered patio with a firepit and a sectional for lounging. Downstairs, there’s a bedroom/den with a fold-out sofa and a desk, a full bath with a tub/shower, and a guestroom that opens to the backyard (w/dining table, chaises and a barbecue). From here, you can walk to the local craft brewery or enjoy a slice of pie at Sweet Elena’s bakery—while perusing the fanciful wall murals created by Sand City’s many artists. Ocean lovers will appreciate easy access to the beach via the Tioga Road overpass (approx. seven-minute walk). There’s also a corner playground for the kiddies, and if you don’t feel like cooking, you’ll find scores of delis and diners nearby, along with a gamut of international cuisines (Thai, Chinese, Mexican, Japanese, German, Italian and more). What a wonderful home!! Super clean, all the kitchen supplies you need, and great location not far from Monterrey. Our family loved the open layout and thought the beds were extremely comfortable. Would stay again in a heartbeat - 5 stars!

Sandcastle is a pristine property. It has a unique floorplan, which allows for views of the surrounding hills, and a glimpse of the ocean. The home is beautifully, and adequately, appointed, and decorated tastefully to reflect the coastal setting. The home is very clean and comfortable. We loved the outdoor deck being able to sit outside and enjoy the weather and chat. No complaints about the home, however while we sat outside both evenings, the next door neighbors were quite obvious in their eavesdropping. It was a little uncomfortable.

I stayed here for the Laguna Seca ImSA race. Costco, shopping close by. Easy to get to the race and The warf. House was clean and everything was as promised. Parking spot is tight don't think my full size truck would have fit but the wifes bronco fit just fine.

Really enjoyed our time in this house. We stayed in a few different properties on this trip and this one was by far the best! Plenty of space for 6 people, fully stocked kitchen and bathrooms and very clean. It's on a dead end street, so very quiet.

The house is beautiful and has everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The beach is a short walk and it's super easy to drive or uber to other Monterey attractions.

House was clean and quiet. Kitchen and master are on the second floor, which was a bit odd, but worked fine. As others have noted, there is no AC. Upon arrival, the house was a bit warm at 78 but cooled off with all the windows open before getting to bed. Only other peculiarity was the labeling of kitchen inventory on every shelf, which happened to be incorrect on almost every shelf. If it says 11 glasses and there only 10, makes me worried I may be charged for a pre-existing problem. Update them regularly or remove them. Otherwise, the property is very close to costco and downtown seaside, and about 15min to track parking which was great for us.

There’s no air-conditioning and the owner has the thermostat set and will not adjust it so the heater comes on at night if you leave the windows open. In addition there are no window coverings in the master bathrooms so you’re fully exposed while you’re on the bathroom going poop so you have to do it in the dark so no one sees you. It’s quite awkward. I contacted the property manager several times to help get things fixed, but either the owner was not willing to fix the thermostat or they just stop communicating all together.

We had a lovely time at the Sandcastle. The kitchen was fabulously appointed so we could have a few family meals at leisure and then watch movies in the living room all together. The sea breeze was a delight and house as a whole is just beautiful. Would absolutely stay there again.

Our first impression was that it was so clean. Great house for 3 adults, we attended the Carmel Bach festival and loved the rental house. One suggestion would be to instal a window covering in the main bedrooms water closet. Neighbors are very close. We look forward to renting this house again.

The house was beautiful and in easy driving distance to the places we wanted to see. Our 3 year old grandson loved the house.
The house is well equipped for visitors. When the pullout bed was opened in the third bedroom it is difficult to get to the closet. This was it a problem for the younger person assigned to that bedroom.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sandcastle. The house has a great layout for two couples or a family. It was perfectly tidy and clean…well stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed some things that the town of Sand City had to offer….but other attractions are only a short drive away. It was an added plus to be able to walk to the beach!! When and if we return to California, we would definitely stay at the Sandcastle again. Michelle was an excellent communicator - thank you!

Beautiful home. Well stocked with anything you might need, especially the kitchen. Very clean. Would stay again. Good location to drive to Monterey, Moss Landing etc.
3rd “bedroom” is actually a pullout sofa not a bed which is a little off putting and the propane tank for the fire pit was empty so the night we wanted to sit on the deck we couldn’t use it unless we wanted to get back out and buy a refill.

Staying at the sandcastle was a very lovely experience. The small differences had a great impact on the comfort of our stay - mostly that the places most rentals find to save a nickel were not the case here: kitchen ware you would use in your own kitchen; paper/bath/cleaning products that are effective; fresh linens in ample supply.
The location was a great for our sight-seeing base and the home was clean and well appointed. Highly recommend!

We stayed at this beautiful home in Sand City. The pictures are great but the house in person is even better. Communication was great. Easy to check in. The house is beautifully decorated and yet very homey as well. We had everything we could have possibly wanted or needed and more. Location was great. Easy to get to many different places of interest. We highly recommend this house!

The house was beautiful. Well maintained and very clean and comfortable. It is advertised as a three bedroom, but the third bedroom is a pullout couch and looks like more of an office.
The kitchen is fully stocked and everything is in great condition.
Michelle, the property manager, was very quick to respond to any questions we had.

This is a well-maintained, confortable, contemporary two-story accommodation. The second story kitchen/dining/TV area is spacious and great for groups. Appliances are modern and the kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils and supplies. Bedrooms/bathrooms are spacious and comfortable. The immediate area apart from other similar two-story homes is semi-industrial, but Monterey and all the tourist areas are a short drive away. The only problem we had was with noise at night. I could not locate the source of thumping rock music each night, and on one night there were fireworks nearby that started around 10pm. We didn’t see them, just heard them for ~30 minutes.

We stayed here with friends to visit the surrounding areas. It was a perfect launch point to go to Big Sur, ride Hwy 1, check out downtown Monterey and the aquarium, walk Carmel by the Sea and so much more. We will definitely be returning here. Loved this house and it’s spotless clean.

The owner of Sandcastle thought of every detail. It is beautifully decorated, comfortable home for us to share with our family. It is very convenient to Monterey and Carmel. The property is clean and new. It’s a little further from the beach than a thought, and the walk is not paved with sidewalks. The walk is worth it though.

1863 worked great for our Monterey Bay getaway. The house was clean, spacious and convenient for our stay. We have stayed at many vrbo’s over the years ant this house is by far the nicest we have stayed at. The kitchen had everything we needed for our stay and more. I appreciate having having paper and washing supplies provided to get started so we didn’t have to go out and buy right away. Checking in and out was easy and the owners communicated well with what we needed. I recommend this property and will stay here on my next trip to this area.

Our team thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sand Castle. We stayed during car week in Pebble Beach. It fit 4 of us perfectly and was close to numerous stores, restaurants, and everything we needed. It was a 15 minute drive to Pebble Beach golf course.

This was a very clean property, great location to all golf courses , beaches , and all of Monterey . We loved that this house had everything ! Literally everything you would need . The fire place on the porch was great ! Kids were very happy with all the games , tv , and room to just relax . ALSO MANAGEMENT IS AMAZING AND FAST TO RESPOND , we needed some propane and they responded promptly and had maintainer man there fast , Marcos was a awesome guy as well , very polite and professional . We highly recommend this spot , and we will definitely be back some time 😁
