About this house rental
Beech Hill Pond is one of the most desirable fresh water locations in the Bar Harbor/Acadia area. The air conditioned home sits 20 feet from the waters edge with docks that reach out over the water. The comfortable living room/kitchen/dining area has a wonderful view of the water. The master bedroom has a balcony that looks out over the serene pond. You will have such a relaxing and refreshing vacation that you won't want to leave!
Bring your own kayak for fishing on the lake (sorry current dock will not accommodate motor boats). Or just enjoy the provided kayaks and paddle boat. Very clear water that you can see down about 20 feet or more.
Great location, can swim in a beautiful cool lake and still close enough to spend the day in Acadia and Bar Harbor. Both are located about 50 minutes away.
Beech Hill Pond is 4.5 miles long, half a mile wide, and up to 104 feet deep. The Loons are prevalent on the lake and can be heard calling in the night in the quiet still air.
Fish found in Beech Hill Pond include salmon, rainbow trout, lake trout, brook trout, small mouth bass, and several others. The largest lake trout in Maine was caught on the lake in 1958. It weighed 31.5 pounds.
Beech Hill Pond was said to be one of the "best bets for Maine lake trout" by Tom Seymour. It is not possible to fish from the lake's shore, although fishing can be done out on the lake.
Since the cottage is at the water's edge it is set down along the edge of the water. This means that there is a steep grade from the road down to the house. We do not recommend driving down to the house since there is parking along the road. At the least we suggest you walk down before deciding to bring your car down and even then please only back down since there is no room to turn around. We have parking for 2 cars along the road and there is a staircase to get down to the property (see photos). The benefit of being tucked down away from the road is you hardly notice vehicles going by when you are there!

We really enjoyed our stay at beach hill pond. Watching the loons each morning with our morning coffee and talking to the chipmunks as they ran around us. It was a great place to start from each day to go and do our sight seeing. Veena was great and solved the one problem we had. We would stay there again.

This was an incredible getaway! The amenities and comfort of the place was fantastic! Veena was incredibly communicative and ensured that we had everything we needed for our stay! The kayaks were such a huge plus! The location is remote, and helpful to unplug and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It was easily accessible to Ellsworth for groceries and restaurants. A very nice drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park! Would love to come back and enjoy this beautiful getaway again!

Clean, comfortable, and well appointed for a relaxing getaway on a beautiful lake. Close enough to enjoy Acadia NP and other nearby attractions. But also off the beaten path and quietly restful.

Wow, this place is just stunning. And the host is fantastic with communication. If you are looking for a great stay on this lake with your family this is a total win if you can book it.
You’ve got everything right here that you need to have a fantastic stay. The kids will run jump and play all day on the dock and you can watch them from multiple places in the house. Great kitchen for entertaining the family and lots of places for people to live around when it’s rainy. This is just a fantastic house. Host is fantastic and communicative with any issues you might have.

Our family had a great time at this property. The lake was extremely clean and just steps away from the back door. The fishing was great and the location was nice and tucked away. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Had a lovely time paddling and peddling around the lake. Peaceful, clean, basic kitchen tools (but. It much extra bring your own cooking supplies!) the sitting space upstairs is a lovely place to read and enjoy the sunrise/sunset.

I grew up not far away from this cabin and was looking for somewhere near my parent’s house to bring my family for a visit. After looking at hotel listings and other Vrbo listings this cabin stood out to us and we booked it.
We had an incredible stay! Modern appliances set inside a ‘getaway’ feeling cabin just steps off the water and easily kept warm inside when temps dropped. My kids loved playing on the dock and we loved the view from both the living room and master bedroom.
Instructions were clear, there was a ton of little extras present you don’t usually get in other rentals, the property felt very private and is clearly maintained with care. If we could buy this place and make it our permanent cabin we would!
It is mentioned in the description, but the driveway is no joke. I’m very comfortable backing up long distances and feel at home on windy and/or steep backroads but that driveway is incredibly steep. I attempted it but the truck started to skid even at a full stop so I parked off the main road (nice area for it) and we logged everything down the 40 or so steps. There’s nice automatic lights for the walkway at night but it’s steep and if you have a lot of bags it will be a workout getting them down and back up.
Even with that minor quibble, it’s our favorite vacation rental we’ve stayed in to date. If your thinking about it, just do it you won’t be sorry!

First and foremost this is a beautiful lake and the home was great.
The views are spectacular. The boat dock and crystal clear water made it hard to leave.
The house was clean and homey.
A few things that should be addressed about the property.
1. The bathroom is downstairs and all of the bedrooms are upstairs. This should be made clear in the listing.
2. The drive way is so steep - it can be intimidating for novice drivers. You can park on “street” level but the stairs to the door are also steep and a lot to manage when carrying luggage and/or groceries.
3. The road to the property is a private maintained dirt road. It’s about 3-5 miles from a paved road. Before the road crew came - it was covered in holes and was quite a bumpy trip (due to recent heavy rains). After fixed - the road was flat.
4. Our GPS took us to the wrong location. I suggest a pin drop or something more accurate to be sent prior to arrival. The GPS kept calling the location Denham not Otis.
We loved our time here and the owners were awesome. But the items we mentioned should be notified prior to booking/visiting. Due to potential physical limitations of guests.

The property was the best stocked vacation rental at which I have ever stayed. Beautiful views right on the water, perfect for relaxing. Host Veena was so kind and accommodating.

We had such a fantastic and relaxing time! The house was just right for a family of 4 with kids who didn't want to share a room, as there's a sofa bed on the landing that served as an extra bedroom. The lake is beautiful, and having kayaks and a pedalo was a bonus. The water is great for swimming too (at least in August). There was a well equipped spacious kitchen area, comfy beds, cosy lounge, but the outdoors area was the best! Location was great for us, an hour's drive from Acadia national park, but peaceful and away from the crowds. A really memorable stay!

This is a beautiful cabin- cozy, well equipped and the lake/amenities are amazing. We loved our visit and will definitely be back. It was a perfect get/away for my husband, myself, my 19 year old daughter and my mom. Great communication with the property manager.
