Sunset Cove is your quintessential lake vacation getaway - a cozy and clean home with tons of outdoor space for recreation and relaxation. Enjoy the double decker dock, covered porch, breakfast patio, amazing sunset views of the lake, and deep water right off the dock. Sunset Cove is also only 5 minutes from Claytor Lake State Park for hiking, boat rentals, beach area, boat launch and more.

Nearby Activities:

Stay a week and explore the New River Valley - 15 minutes to the Draper Village (restaurant, tea room, eclectic shopping, bike rentals, massage therapy, agritourism), 30 minutes to Foster Falls State Park (horseback riding, kayak/canoe access). The New River Valley is also home to lots of wineries, antiquing, and sight seeing!

Only 15 minutes to Radford University and 25 minutes to Virginia Tech!

This property is not pet friendly and is not open for events of any kind.

Note form October 4th 2024: Due to Hurricane Helene, the New River flooded dumping debris into Claytor Lake. At this time, Claytor Lake is inaccessible. The cleanup time is unknown, however, efforts have already begun.

This was our second time staying in this house on Claytor Lake. The beds are comfortable and it is located on a lake. It doesn’t get much better than that. I would have given it all five stars if it weren’t for the fruit flies throughout the house.

My husband and I with our daughters and Husbands parents enjoyed this rental for our youngest daughters graduation from RU. We especially liked being able to have our meals from home verses trying to find resturants and long wait times and highlight was fishing from the boat dock.

The house was clean and welcoming. Lots of windows and natural light, great water views and across from the boat ramp, which the kids loved watching the bass boats come and go. Beds and furniture were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. GPS directions get messed up once you get off the main road, so follow the directions provided in the check-in email. The property manager was very responsive before and during our stay. Overall, it was a very nice place and an enjoyable weekend getaway.

Went for a long weekend this fall to visit our daugther at college. The fall trees were starting to change and it was gorgeous. The setting is very serene. There was a night time fishing tournament taking place and it was fun to chat with a few of the participants. All in all another great weekend at this place!

Our family had a wonderful time at this lake house. Our kids didn't want to leave. Very well equipped and clean. The deck area is huge, you can enjoy beautiful sunrise and sunsets from there. The boat launch is across from the lake, close to the lake house and boat traffic can get quite heavy over the weekend. Will definitely come back.

Great place to stay with family and friends. Plenty of room on decks to relax. The kids enjoyed jumping off the docks to swim. They also enjoyed fishing from the dock. Our kids were school age and wore a life jacket on the dock area. Would stay again.

Gorgeous setting on Claytor Lake, looking across the cove at the state park. There is a "No Wake" zone in front of the house, so boat traffic going past was quiet. The home is sparsely but adequately equipped and all appliances worked well. Would have loved to have a 10 or 12-inch usable skillet in the kitchen, but there was an 8-inch. Things that were great: multiple decks; use of washer/dryer; full-size fridge; very clean; light and bright. Things we would change: need bedside tables on BOTH sides of beds with lamps so you don't have to get out of bed to turn off overhead light; bedroom doors need to be planed/fixed so they don't stick and wake everyone; towels are unabsorbent microfiber (bring your own!). The printed directions to the house were just wrong at the end (use GPS instead), there are no street signs, and we spent far too long maneuvering around the neighborhood trying to find the house. There are steep hills involved, so would not go in winter. Fishing was bad for everyone we talked to, so perhaps a seasonal issue. Walmart Supercenter just 10 minutes away if you forget something!

This is a great little lake house with a wonderful deck, an amazing view and plenty of activities just minutes away. The property was very clean, had everything we needed for a getaway with the kids, and would be especially nice in the summer months as the lake is gorgeous.
