About this house rental
Built in the 1930's, our cozy bungalow has been lovingly updated with modern comforts and decorated with colorful charm and collectable items from the past. Perfect for couples or small families as it sleeps four. A maximum of 2 dogs can join you with no pet fees.
Nestled in a quiet neighborhood full of friendly folks and lots of furry friends, our home is walkable to restaurants in the Normaltown, Cobham and downtown areas featuring food and drink to suit all tastes.
The master bedroom features a king sized bed while the second bedroom has a cozy queen. The linens are environmentally responsible bamboo viscous and cotton which are soft and breathable. The bathroom is small and mighty with a clawfoot tub/shower which includes deliciously scented natural body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Super soft and absorbent bamboo viscose towels add a spa-like experience.
Our retro styled kitchen is stocked with items to make your stay easier. A variety of snacks are available as you arrive...check the bread box. Pots, pans, dishes, bowls, glasses, utensils, spices, a coffee/tea bar, an electric stove/oven, microwave, toaster, blender and a dishwasher are all here whether you need to heat up leftovers or cook up a quick meal before you head out to explore the city.
The living room and master bedroom include a Roku tv just bring your Netflix and Hulu account passwords! Having a tv free get away? We have games and puzzles to entertain you or you can curl up in the cabana-like front porch and read from our collection of Athens and Georgia related books.
It wouldn't be an authentic Athens experience without music. Our listening area in the foyer, includes albums and CD's from a variety of extremely talented Athens bands for you to listen to as you relax. Experience live performances most days of the week at various venues and bars which are just a short Uber ride away. Check Flagpole.com for dates and times for concerts, art exhibits, and events.
Feeling inspired? The office is home to a guitar and amp where you can privately hone your skills.
Your dogs are also welcome to relax with you at our home. We do not charge a pet fee, but would like to know that they are coming so we can have pet amenities set up, so please let us know at booking that you are bringing them. Throws are provided to keep dirt and hair off of the bedding and furniture. A large dog bed is available as well as bowls, poop bags, towels, and treats. A large crate (3'D x2'Wx28"H) is available when you go out or your pup can stay out of trouble in the laundry room area. The backyard is fenced in but not escape proof for your Houdini dogs. Do not leave your dogs outside for long periods of time, please.
For your safety there are 3 outdoor cameras. Two capture activity in the driveway and the other captures activity at the door bell.

Comfortable and nicely decorated home with a spectacular view of farmland and mountains. It was small but comfortable for the two of us and our small dog. It was a newly built duplex home with the owner living next door. Giovanella was very nice, welcoming us with a bottle of wine. She messaged us with the intricacies of the home and suggestions where to go in the area. This was very helpful. We were only there two nights so the Caverns are a must!

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Cheerful Eclectic Bungalow. It was centrally located and convenient to the places we needed and wanted to go while in Athens. Plenty of room, well furnished and the yard was just what we needed for our dogs. We would definitely stay here on another visit to Athens.

We absolutely loved our stay in the Cobbham cottage. It is extremely convenient to downtown Athens and in a wonderful, walkable, quaint neighborhood. The check in and check out instructions were perfect with great communication from the owner. The decor is beautiful and comfortable, and the house is very well-stocked with everything you need. They supplied, water, coffee, shampoo/conditioner, condiments and spices, etc... really great attention to detail. The beds and linens are exceptional for a great night sleep. House is also dog-friendly and owners provided a crate and dog bed, plus the backyard is fenced in. All in all, this was a perfect property for our needs and I highly recommend it for your stay in Athens.

We had a terrific time! House was warm and welcoming. Even had Holiday decorations for us! Checking in was seamless. Host/Hostess were very nice and made us feel at home. We walked to Normaltown and downtown Athens with no problem. It was close to everything we needed. The dog really enjoyed it, as well. They thought of her too. I would definitely stay here again!

This was an incredible experience working with Carolyne & John Britt. They were super responsive and allowed us to move dates when our plans changed. The house was perfect with a fenced in back yard and a lot charm, and extremely pet friendly (dog bed, crate, shampoo, treats) The house is a little older so they have done everything you can think of to ensure you have what you need to include multi-plug/usb outlets to easy streaming security, Brita water filter, umbrellas…you name it, they thought of it.
It is a really cute house, very clean and nice to have a driveway to park. I would definitely stay there again and think the Britts are incredible hosts.

Carolyne and John have a lovely, pet friendly home. My husband, dog, and I were in town for several days to move one of my UGA sons to a new apartment. The house is adorable, clean, and was exactly as the listing represented. We arrived very late in the evening and had no difficulties entering the house. Their home is well-equipped and had everything we could possibly need. The master bed is very comfortable The location was great and close to downtown. We did use an Uber one evening and had no trouble getting an Uber to town and returning later that evening. We would not hesitate to rent their home again.

We spent a wonderful week at this property while our children (14 and 12) attended UGA summer camp. This was our second stay in Athens this summer and I highly recommend this house. We were so comfortable including our two dogs and kept saying how much at home we felt. The location is about a mile and a half from downtown and the neighborhood is lovely and historic. I felt comfortable walking the dogs even late at night and there were lots of walkers and bikers and close restaurants. The hosts are wonderful too! Lots of good local Athens music to play on a real record player and books! We worked from home all week and I even had a comfortable office.
Snacks were provided as well as all essentials to make our week great. There is a fenced yard and a dog bed and dog pick up bags and shampoo and even dog treats in the kitchen. Our pups have never been happier any house that we have rented. I can't wait to return next summer and highly recommend. My kids said to vote 10 stars! :-) Couldn't have asked for more.

We had a great stay at this property with our son and our 2 dogs. Normaltown is such a convenient location in Athens to get downtown or really anywhere. The fenced in yard was great for the dogs and the front porch was super cozy during a passing thunderstorm. The house was super clean, well decorated, and comfortable. Communication with the owners was great. I will definitely look to stay here again on a future visit.

If there was something I needed, it was there. Everything from toiletries to first aid kit, remote batteries, salt/pepper, tea, coffee, laundry supplies. For my pups - dog beds, tennis balls, towels, pillow, crate & pooper scooper. The list goes on. Very organized and well appointed in every way.
I also appreciated the area rugs. My 14 year old dog doesn’t walk on bare floors so I usually have to bring towels to use as runners when I travel.
I will be returning next month and delighted I won’t have to pack near as much!

I stayed here during my doctoral program residency week at UGA (GO DAWGS!). The location is nice and located on a quiet street. The bed is extremely comfortable and I will be contacting the host asking them for all those details. I traveled with my Great Dane, Willie and he enjoyed the fenced in back yard and nice sidewalks to stroll down. It is a little too far to walk to downtown, but an easy Uber. Very comfortable space and I felt welcome.
