This condo was beautiful, and nicely updated. It had all that you needed in the kitchen. They have chairs, beach towels, and a cooler to use. The view was out over the lagoon and a park. The building is old, but this condo is new, and the elevators(3 of them) are super fast. The only complaint I have was the second bedroom got full of gnats that I had to sweep up. We used this as our dressing room, so it wasn't a bother. No where else in the condo was that an issue. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

From booking to check out the whole process was seamless.
We enjoyed exploring beautiful Hilo from this location, including Rainbow and Akaka falls, volcanoes national park and the farmers markets.
Hilo Burger Joint, Cafe Pesto, Nector cafe, Kuhio Grille - Home Of The Famous 1lb Laulau were all delicious places within walking distance that we ate at and the service was great.
We enjoyed beverage on the balcony each evening overlooking the lagoon and our girls loved the ducks and koi fish at the pond. Would definitely recommend staying here. Thankyou! From Australia :)

Where do I begin, this rental property was exactly what we needed during our stay in Hilo. It was in a quiet part of town, yet, still walking distance to so many awesome sites. It was super clean and had all the cooking utensils and wares we could ever ask for. The host was always prompt when we had questions and the property was always secure thanks to the guards in the lobby. This property made our stay in Hilo even better. The view of the lagoon was breathtaking, especially if you were up early enough to catch the sunrise. There is a reason this property is a 10/10. Thank you so much for having us.

This condo is immaculate. Building is older. However, security on duty 24/7. Unit is on 7th floor and elevator is fast. Assigned parking. Cooler and freezer packs provided which made it easy to pack a lunch and snacks daily for exploring. Washer/dryer is down the hall and uses quarters which are easy to get in security office. Laundry was not an issue and certainly easier than if staying in a hotel. Most importantly, the beds were so comfortable and unit quiet. We slept well every night. We would stay here again.

Loved the location over a beautiful quiet lagoon. Super clean and updated and fully stocked. It had all the comfort & details of a home away from home, with updated kitchen and bathroom luxuries. The bldg was quiet and clean, it was great being in an end unit. The beds & pillows were SO comfortable and towels fluffy and new. Would highly recommend! All of Terry’s recommendations were helpful for places to eat and things to do.
Hilo is a quaint little beach town, nothing flashy or commercial like the other islands and Kona. People are very friendly and appreciate the visitors. So many beautiful gardens, drives & walking trails thru lush forests and waterfalls to discover. Use the guide books so you don’t pass them up!

The home was wonderfully sized and well stocked with what you need. Great location and we will come back.

This place is even nicer in person. After seeing the modern decor, quality furnishings and appliances, and fully stocked kitchen, we also noticed how clean it was! Spotless. This made for a thoroughly comfortable and enjoyable trip. The other listings mentioned how the building itself was older, and yes, it is, but the inside of this condo was new, clean, and so comfortable. Great location as well. The host was readily available for any questions and provided a nice list of things to do in Hilo, most of which we did! Great stay!
4.9
Beautiful place, very well appointed and maintained. The setup with 2 bedrooms separated by living room was ideal! Smallish living room, but we only had two people, so it was OK as we didn't spend much time at the unit. Walking distance to great latte and breakfast sandwiches (Just Cruisin). Laundry facilities on each floor was very handy, covered parking was great. Would definitely stay again.

The unit is a very nice place to stay in Hilo. Clean and modern with great beds. Can’t beat the views either.

As you drive up to the property and see the “Lagoon tower,” it looks dated and a bit worn. But most of Hilo town looks the same. Humidity and rain will do that. But as you step foot inside the condo that impression leaves your mind. The owner has tastfuly modernized this unit. It has everything you could need. Beds were very comfortable. TV and cable in all the rooms. From the 7th floor the balcony views overlooking the beautiful garden and lakes are breathtaking. I looked forward to my early morning coffee watching the sunrise casting reflected light on the water. The fish jumping, water birds everywhere were a joy. As I write this review, on the balcony, a light rain is falling and the morning sun is peaking through the clouds. Love a good sun shower!
The Lagoon tower is centrally located in Hilo. Easy drive or walk pretty much anywhere. If your going to visit Hilo town or explore the beauty of the East side, this condo is amazing. Thank you Terry for sharing your home.

We have stayed at multiple locations in Hilo, hotels, or VRBOs, and nothing even comes close to the cleanliness, beauty, and location of this 2-bedroom unit. This unit has been tastefully updated with modern amenities, is extremely clean, and well-stocked. The location is extremely safe, quiet, and central to everything in Hilo. In the future, this is our go-to accommodation.
Terry thank you for sharing your amazing condo.

We were here for a family reunion and this was a perfect location. The views are absolutely gorgeous and it's such a peaceful view.
Would definitely stay here again.
Mahalo nui loa.

Condo was very clean and recently renovated. It was easy to walk to town and centrally located to tourist sites and just a 45 minute drive to Hawaii Volcano National Park. Great communication from the host who provided a great list of things to do and restaurants. We highly recommend Pineapples restaurant. There is a pool, however, there is no shade structure or umbrellas. If we ever went back to Hilo, we’d stay here again.

We live in Hawaii, travel to Hilo frequently, and this place is a real gem. Centrally located, well appointed, very clean, and with a great view. Will definitely stay here again! There were only two of us, but it would also be very comfortable for 4. We highly recommend.
4.9
Should have let you know. A/C not working well in right BR. Otherwise all great!
4.9
Fantastic place to stay - way more space than we needed for 2 people, seems ideal for 4 with the two separate bedrooms and bathrooms (and 3 balconies!) with big common area. Very clean inside the unit - condo complex itself is a bit dated but you'd never know it inside the unit itself. About a 15-min walk to downtown Farmer's Market and restaurant and 25 to Coconut Island, but neither are the most "scenic" (lots of busy streets to walk next to).
4.9
Location in center of Hilo close to all the things that you would want to do while on vacation. The apartment is nicely renovated and had everything that we needed for our five day stay. Also has nice views of the Hilo lagoon. We really enjoyed our stay at this property and would highly recommend it.
4.9
This condo is everything stated. So comfortable and decorated to perfection! The location is perfect for everything on this side of the island! We found Hilo so great, not touristy! Many amazing restaurants Hilo Bay Cafe, Booch Bar, Ola Brewery, just a few! The property manager gave great suggestions. The Botanical Garden a must, the newly opened black sand beach, and of course the Volcano National park! We hope to be back and stay here! Thanks for the perfect accommodation!

This was by far one of the best condos we have ever stayed at. Don't let the older building disappoint you. When you step through the condo's door you are taken into an absolutely gorgeous, beautifully renovated unit that has everything you need and even more.
It faces the park and the lagoon, and if you get up early enough you can watch sunsets every morning.
Both bedrooms and the living room have their own lanais and AC units. The beds are comfortable and the linens are impeccably fresh and clean.
You will have an assigned covered parking spot.
The building is within a walking distance to the farmers market, shopping and restaurants.
Several beach parks where you can go snorkeling are 5-10 minutes drive.
So, if you are looking for a home away from home in Hilo - this is definitely it!

We enjoyed the proximity to the airport, area restaurants. The pool was so refreshing. Unit was so cute and clean. Felt like home. Property itself needs some updating but had a great stay. Terry was awesome and responsive and gave great recommendations for things to do.

Condo location was perfect for us to attend all the weeklong festivities of the Merrie Monarch. The condo was well outfitted from the kitchen to having beach towels , chairs, umbrellas, cooler and freezer packs for us to use during the day to go on picnics. Loved seeing the sunrise over the lagoon each morning from the lanai. We would definitely go back to continue exploring the beautiful Hilo area. Terry was very helpful in providing information on what to see in and around Hilo. Also, both beds were very comfortable
Mahalo Terry for having such a beautiful unit.

Condo is bright and well-maintained. Really enjoyed the location.
4.9
Convenient location, beautiful view, clean and spacious unit. It was a great fit for our family of 4! We very much appreciated the beach towels, chairs, sand toys, etc. We also appreciated the recommendations for restaurants and places to see in the area.
4.9
Hilo was second half of our trip and greeted us with lots of rain and teased us with some sunshine in between. Two of us was working remotely part of the time so it wasn’t too bad. Although the building is old, the unit itself has been remodeled, furnished, and decorated with modern details. We had everything we needed and location was very convenient, close to coffee shops, grocery, farmers market, beach park, etc. we enjoy the beautiful open lagoon view even when it was raining. Unlike a lot of two bedrooms we looked at this property has Lanais in each room (each bedrooms and kitchen/living rm). All of us enjoyed quiet times in our own rooms as well as spending time together in the open kitchen/living. This is such a perfect set up for two couples. On our last day, Hilo sent us away with clear blue skies and perfect 74 weather. What a teaser! Ok, we’ll be back and will stay in this unit again!
Terry, thank you for effortless check in and check out! I appreciated all your prompt and detailed communications to make our stay a breeze.
Mahalo!
Kari

Everything was top notch! We loved it - a real “hidden gem”!!!!
4.9
Hilo isn’t the most picturesque town in Hawai’i but having this nicely renovated unit on a large park helps to make it as comfortable as possible. Close to all the good restaurants, would stay here again. Thanks!
4.9
The condo is situated on the 7th floor, just the height of the palm trees, with beautiful views of the park. The building itself is aged, but the condo is newly remodeled and we found everything pristine. We did not use the pool, as it did not look too inviting. Great place to explore Hilo and its surroundings.
4.9
So clean and well stocked with all necessities! Close to beaches. Peaceful setting away from traffic noise.
4.9
Loved our stay, especially the deck that overlooks the lake and being on the grounds of a park. Location convenient for all the sights.
Wish the washer and dryer were in the condo

This was the perfect location for our getaway. Close to town. Beautiful sunrises. Extremely quiet. Easy to go any direction for day trips.

Terry Schoneberg managed the original property we had for two days - limited because the property we had requested was book for that time. At the end of two days, Terry managed our transition to the penthouse unit and met many of the requests we were forced to make due to my unanticipated surgery right before our flight from the Mainland. The properties were in great condition with thoughtful appointments and Mr. Schoneberg's management was at a level I would wish for my own properties in FL/LA. Exceptional job, Terry.

My family loved our stay at Loko Kai Nani, and hope to make this unit our regular vacation spot going forward.
First off, this place looks even better than the pictures. We were floored at the gorgeous water views, regardless of which room you’re in. The place was also immaculate - the hardwood floors looked brand new, as did all the counters and cabinets. It was also nicely decorated, from the artwork to the pillows to the patio tables. It was a bright and cheery place to call home for the week.
Secondly, the beds and showers were top notch. My husband is a light sleeper, but he said he had the best sleep ever on the king bed. Not only that, the boys slept in after the first few mornings (a minor miracle, given the time zone change) thanks to the blackout curtains. I enjoyed the pebble rain shower in the master bath, and having an actual tub in the second bathroom was super handy for bath time.
Thirdly, the location of this condo could not be beat. It was a great base for visiting all the notable sights in downtown Hilo. We dropped by Suisan for poke nearly every day, picked up fresh fruit from the farmers market (we loved the strawberry papayas and rambutan!), and found the local KTA on Puainako St. a great stop for unique food souvenirs.
The nearby beaches are kid-friendly, but we also found the Panaewa Zoo a great spot for the entire family. It rivals a botanical garden with the variety of plants there, and the boys got a kick out of the tiger enclosure as well as the large playground.
Finally, Terry the host made the stay absolutely stress-free. He did a great job communicating ahead of time, when we arrived, right before we left, and after we checked out. For us, that’s exactly what we look for in a host - someone who is proactive and accessible when needed.
All in all, it was a fantastic and memorable stay - we can’t wait to come back!

Our family stayed at Loko Kai Nani for just a few days, but boy, did we wish our stay was longer! Everything went so smoothly, and Terry was a great host. Thank you, Terry, for the best stay we've had yet in Hawaii!
The condo is impeccably furnished, and everything is new. We appreciated all the extra touches, like the rain showers, the bidets, the beach stuff, the blackout curtains (especially with kids who would otherwise wake up at the crack of dawn), and the awesome blender (ever try making protein shakes at most rental properties?)
Speaking of sunrises, OMG! The view is amazing at all hours, but you may want to forego sleeping in with sunrises like these! It’s like heaven opened up a portal directly across the lagoon. The birds are singing, the schools of fish are flashing across the water — it’s perfect. Let the kids sleep in, grab your spouse and a cup of Hawaiian coffee, and just sit on the lanai and forget all your cares, at least until the kids wake up. Then it’s down to the pool, across the lagoon park to the shore, or down the street to one of the amazing, kid-friendly beaches. There’s even a super fun, free zoo, as well as a planetarium and astronomy center (Imaloa, I think?) at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, just up the hill.
When we planned our trip, we very nearly booked at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, where we’ve stayed before. It was only by a happy accident that we wound up at Loko Kai Nani instead, but this will be our first choice going forward. For the price, this was a far superior deal. Instead of an itty-bitty room with one balcony, we got a whole condo with everyone having their own room and balcony. You can still see the harbor from the balconies of this condo, but the main view is of the lagoon, which honestly, is better. You get the bright blues of the water, but also the vibrant greens of the palms, and the orange and red of the flowering trees, as well as those neat Japanese bridges. It’s like being inside one of those almost-too-perfect screensavers, except it’s real.
I usually don’t book places unless they have a LOT of reviews, but with Terry being a premier host, and based on the pictures, we decided to go for it. I’m so happy we did. We already felt like we got in on one BIG SECRET, namely that Hilo is actually the best side of the island, and now we found this place. I just hope it doesn’t become too popular and we can come back at some point.
