breakfast
Room....bar....cleanliness of hotel in general... floor in room was not at all level and had a big fall towards one side...big step up to bathroom floor....room only serviced every 3 days... all room furniture is old and tired... bar was a building site as was being worked on for the duration of our stay.

Location and superb car park.
Breakfast an extra
3.0 / 5.0
Breakfast was good. Hotel on the promenade. Central location. Room and bathroom clean. Bed was comfortable.
Car park was awful, parking spaces really tight and difficult to manoeuvre in, pay machine wasn’t taking card payments and to had to go to reception to get a ticket and then back to car.
Hotel very dated and needs upgrading - furniture from the 1980s, carpet in bedroom awful, pillows poor.
Generally the hotel needs a complete refurbishment.
Everywhere you you went you needed a ‘disc’ for parking and apparently these are very easy to get but the hotel staff never mentioned it or offered one and this had a big impact on our holiday.

The room had 3 rooms, bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. Plus it had a balcony. The 2 restaurants were very good.

Staff lovely, food very good.
Bed wasn't comfortable and the room was only serviced one day.

The room was to a nice size. There was plenty of room for 2 people. The bath room, again, a lovely size. Excellent big towels.
Breakfast was a good, lots of choice and the view of a stormy sea added for entertainment.
The tv was at an awkward angle to view. We pulled the sofa round to view it.
Bit of mould on the walls in the shower, didn't look like they had been scrubed.

Well kept Victorian building , up to date but not out of character

Leaving. That was definitely the best part.
It's just a really run down hotel.
The room we were given was 193. If you get this room, just leave. We were given an alternative room which was worse.
Extremely tired, rundown, badly maintained hotel.
The pool is one of the most disgusting pools I've ever used. Better off swimming in the poo soup out in Douglas Bay. Less of an open sewer smell about it. If you like the smell of chlorine and wee, it's the place for you. I'm cringing thinking about it.
Had to change my room key three times. After waiting for the most annoying lift it the history of elevation, which took time away from me that I'll never get back. I finally got to my room. As I walked in slightly staggering to the left ( the room was on the p!#s, not me). The final touch was the massive seagull peering into our only, tiny window. Turns out he practically lives there.
Didn't really feel like calling reception to report a pervert seagull. I also have particularly fond memories of him peering into the bathroom window. One of the special features of the Sefton in Douglas that must keep people returning in their droves.
As I lay in bed feeling all the blood pool in my legs due to the room being tilted. I wrote in my diary.
Simply says "Bugger"

The staff are very friendly. The breakfast buffet is substantial - enough to get you through till the evening.
I really liked a pub / bar attached to the hotel: the 'Sir Norman's'. It is dedicated to a British comedian and film star that I used to watch on TV when I was young: his name, Norman Wisdom. I remember as a kid laughing until I cried at his antics.
The 'Sir Norman's' attached to the Sefton Hotel became Sir Norman's local pub when he moved to live on the Isle of Man. The staff have stories and clearly remember him very fondly.
Otherwise, the location of the hotel is excellent: on the Promenade; we can look out to the sea and a broad horizon from the breakfast room of the hotel
The rooms have a private balcony with two chairs and a table, which are excellent for a relaxing talk over a glass of wine in the evening. Each balcony looks out onto an internal 'atrium' - which is spectacular to look at and walk through. One downside is that when hotel guests sit on their balcony and talk loudly, the sound echoes around the atrium space.

Location and the building are amazing - probably the most beautiful hotel in Douglas. The room is a bit outdated, could use some renovation.
The room wasn't cleaned after the first night, not sure if I had to leave the 'tidy up' sign or not, but it's standard even without it. The pool area was just a few degrees colder than perfect.

Staff on reception amazing..couldnt do more for us!..
Room lovely..loved the balcony
Only a few negatives..
The matresses are too hard..i couldnt sleep..
The changing room in swimming pool is toxic..the smell gets to your chest as it smells of sewage..been like it for years and never been dealt with?? If they dont fix it then they need to close the ladies permantly and make the mens one unisex. ..it puts people off using the pool.its a real.shame!
No shower curtain on bath.
And seperate shower is so small no.one can fit in it?
Enamel chipped off bath.

The room was comfortable and warm with a good view of the prom.
Breakfast was nice and plenty of it.
Staff friendly and smiley.
The place was clean although it looks tired in the corridors/lifts and stairs.
Disappointed there was no bar facility after 9pm as we went out for a meal and it would have been nice to come back and have a drink in a hotel bar. Actually was tempted to go in a non resident bar of another hotel along the prom.
The room was ok but had no decor. Very big room with little character and although it was clean it lacked something.

The staff were lovely, really helpful and kind. It really is right on the beach, which is lovely. I had room service from one of the restaurants, and it was a fully vegan meal and *delicious*. Like really really good. The bed was comfortable, and the water pressure and bathroom generally was really great.
The pool requires booking in advance, and as the hotel was full I never made it in there. That's one of the reasons I chose the place, so that was annoying. I thought I'd booked with breakfast, but hadn't. Just check carefully when you book. Breakfast staff were wonderful but the food itself was pretty average. I only went once. The whole vibe is quite dated, but I did know that going in.

The manager was very friendly.
The place is looking very tired now and in dire need of a serious refit.
