We stayed 4 nights and first night we had a 3p/ room it was nice but little bit small for 3 adults for a longer stay so we moved to the “ suite” . This was unbelievable so beautiful and so much space .
The owners and staff are very kind .
A lot of animals on the property .
It was a perfect

All the staff at the property were super friendly and helpful. The location was off the main road and about a 5 minute drive to the downtown area so all you could hear was the jungle. The whole grounds of this lodge were beautifully kept and the pool area was nice also. The room was large and clean with bug netting for the bed, although it wasn’t really necessary when we were there.
This was actually something that we loved but potentially not everyone would, the howler monkeys were very vocal around dusk. It was super cool and definitely woke us up!

The owner upgraded us so we had the upstairs and downstairs of the lodge / house for our family of five. We stayed 4 nights. It was very luxurious. I loved the upper floor deck where we could look out into the jungle garden and watch the wildlife. The beach opposite was quiet and swimmable, but the beach at Punta Uva was even nicer and we could walk there. The homemade was especially good.

The breakfast was very good, more than enough and different each day. The rooms are very comfortable and the location is right in the jungle which was amazing, we even were able to see a sloth from the hammock in front of our room.

Superb location in the jungle, fantastic food/ breakfast, friendly hosts and personel, nice outside shower, nice pool (but cold).
hhmmm, can't think of any really. Maybe that we booked a room with private pool that other guests were also using which we didn't really mind but I can imagine other guests wouldn't feel ok with it.

We adored this beautifully-designed property, set in the jungle with easy access to the main road. After spending our first night in a lovely room, we were able to upgrade to the fantastic upstairs apartment for the following six days where we spent a great deal of time lounging on the expansive deck and watching for monkeys and listening to howler monkeys. The Spanish family owners and staff could not have been more kind and helpful. And the breakfasts and meals there were creative and delicious.

A great accommodation to experience the rainforest while staying overnight. In the simple but overall well-furnished rooms, it is special that they allow you to listen to the background noise of the rainforest. As can already be seen from the other evaluations, the howler monkeys in particular are remembered. The facility and the room were well maintained and clean. The nearest access to the beach is within walking distance. The breakfast was very good, not least because of the variety.

A lot of nature in the hotel, near to Chiquita beach (yo can go walking) and punta UVA.
The room was comfortable and peaceful.
the staff is so friendly an always aware for support and attend the requirements of the guests.
The breakfasts was amazing!
At night the pool is not available

Location, staff, rooms. Pretty good sleep, even considering the heat and very loud sounds of nature (this is expected and even a perk IMO). Drinking water was always available.
Breakfast was disappointing.
There's no signage to locate the rooms, which was a problem at times.

It is in a gorgeous setting, the staff there are lovely! Especially the gentleman who checked us in and also on checkout day, he took us and showed us where the howler monkeys were hanging out that we'd heard on site too! Which we also saw a sloth near his small pool and also he informed us of one a little further down so we saw that too! The beds comfortable and the water is hot which is great! There were lots of animals around, agoutis and lizards too! Close walk to supermarkets, shops, restaurants and beach.
Would be nice if there was a bar available there but there are plenty around in short distance for food and drink.
The way we walked to the beach which appeared to be the only way wasn't a pleasant walk although there had just been a storm so that could be why.
The door lock was broken (it still worked) so had a bit of a panic when I slid the lock across and couldn't then unlock it as there was nothing to grab hold of but that's all!

All was really great, but the homemade pineapple ginger jam for breakfast was a real blast!
Also, having a firefly in the room at night somehow made it magical!
Nothing that we did not like. We should have planned one more night there!

Everything was perfect! The hotel is located directly in the jungle and you can spot so many different animals. The way to the beach is really short and it’s really amazing there and not crowded. The room was also so good, really clean and had everything we needed. Just sitting on the terrace and listen to the sounds of nature was really cool. Last but not least the hosts are so friendly and above all so helpful and the breakfast was just so delicious, also the best we had in Costa Rica!

For our first few days, we upgraded to the upper level of the "casa" shown in most of the online pictures of the lodge. It has a large bedroom with two beds, a nice bathroom and a large kitchen with a stove, fridge, and dishes. The best part was the large open gallery overlooking the jungle--it was like living in the trees! There was a wonderful large L-shaped sofa out there for relaxing. It was so beautiful to be awakened each morning by the sounds of the birds and animals. We enjoyed watching for the agoutis, toucans, mackaws and other birds, and one day a sloth came right down beside the main building/restaurant.
Our last night was spent in a regular two-bedded double room in one of the two three-unit buildings on the property. It was small but quite comfortable. The building had a covered "front porch" and each unit had a hammock and small table with two chairs.
All beds were very comfortable.
The small unheated swimming pool beside the "casa" was deliciously cool after a hot trek.
The included breakfasts were prepared to order and delicious--with fruit and a choice of two or three egg or sandwich dishes.
The owners were welcoming and helpful, and the staff were very friendly and eager to point out frogs and sloths to us.
The location was a short walk from the main road, where there were a few shops and restaurants within a ten-minute walk. The walk even in the dark felt perfectly safe.
The whole atmosphere was laid back and welcoming.
In the "casa", we had downstairs neighbors with children, so it wasn't as quiet as we could have liked in the late afternoon and evening.
The furniture, apart from the sofa on the upper floor of the "casa", was extremely uncomfortable: hard wooden chairs with no cushions, or (in the restaurant) metal chairs (we took cushions from the sofa at the far end of the room).
There were no cushions on the couple of wooden loungers by the pool.

I would not recommend this hotel. Shawandha Ecolodge is next door for less and is much nicer. The bathrooms in La Kukula do not have curtains so anyone can walk back there and see everything completely. We could not shower in peace or without wearing our swimsuits. We couldn’t even use the toilette in our room most of the time because it would not flush. They came multiple times and it would only temporarily fix the issue each time. I was working remotely and had to sit uncomfortably because I could not use the 5 minutes in between meetings to do walk across the hotel to use the public restroom.
They advertise an air purifier. There was no air purifier. There is also no AC.
We could not use the one pool available because the monkeys would harass us.
Every time I went to reception, I had to wait 15 minutes for anyone to come and assist me.
There is no purified water in the hotel. Most hotels around have water stations. This one does not.
All the rooms are also together and you can hear everything. You can hear the person next door cough as there is only mosquito fence between the rooms.

Beautiful experience. The location is fabulous, in the jungle, hearing the wildlife close by, and super close to truly amazing beaches. Sonia and all of the staff were so welcoming. And the suite we had was lovely - very spacious with separate kitche
, clean, fabulous terrace to enjoy nature surroundings. Definitely recommend and we are already planning a return visit 😀

The property is in a very good location close to some absolutely beautiful beaches within walking distance. Cars can be safely parked at the hotel entrance. The grounds of the lodge were really nice and well kept with lots of amazing trees and we were lucky enough to see both 2 toed and 3 toed Sloths. We could also see amazing frogs in the evenings and many birds in the days! The owner was very friendly and went out of his way to show us the wildlife, really appreciated!! The main lodge building was a nice place to chill out and also to have breakfast. The room we had was a little small, but with a very nice shower/bathroom. The sound of the animals in the evenings is amazing. There are also a couple of reasonable restaurants close by. I would define stay here again.
The room was in a sort of lodge and connected to 2 other similar rooms, so you could also hear the neighbors, but it was ok. The breakfasts were nice, but a little limited so if you are staying a long time they could be a bit boring.

La Kukula Lodge is indeed a gem in the jungle. Excellent staff, friendly, extremely helpful. Property is gorgeous, likely the very best we’ve had in the last month in CR. Lots of sounds from the resident birds, frogs, and monkeys. Pool a delight.
Food was passable. Did not eat dinner on site.

Nice location in the forest. Working wi-fi, giant rooms. Tasty breakfast. Agoutis running in nearby bushes. Friendly owner Sonia from Barcelona. Super nice! a little bit expensive, but there is nothing cheap in Costa Rica. A small supermarket nearby (5 minutes walk) and very good pizzeria.
If you don't have a car it's hard to get to the town. In costa rica sidewalks are not invented, you have to walk along the road or ask for a taxi at the hotel.
If to ask about additional things:
- air drier to reduce wetness of air or an air conditioner with such an option (else your clothes don't dry at all because of the climate)
- mini kitchen or at least a teapot.

The property was quiet and colorfully decorated. nice bartender.
I did not like the falling things (fruit??) from the surrounding trees that were constantly hitting the roof all day and night. This made it hard to fall asleep and woke me up as well.

La Kukula was the best accomodation we had have in Costa Rica so far. Best service, great food and a park full of animals, birds and insects. Very nice. We have seen Ara parrots. We listend to at least 20 different birds in the eary morning. We slept perfect in this very well naturally ventilated house, no electric ventilation necesseray. You feel like sleeping in the jungle, but safe from all the little beasts due to fenced windows. A night as a highlight. Very much recommended. And a pool for the ones who want to cool down, before going to bed. 🙂🙂🙂
Nothing to complain !!!!!

I loved the location . The hotel is small and located in the jungle . We woke up to howler monkeys and all kinds of birds . It was a short walk to the beach . The beach was beautiful and not crowded at all .
We picked this location because it was in between Manzanillo and Cahuita National parks . It was perfect ! I also loved the architecture of the rooms . They added to the ambiance and beauty of the location . No air conditioning necessary ! Just beautiful!!!
The only problem we had was transportation . In
order to get to restaurants or the national parks we needed to take taxis or shuttles as the public transportation was not reliable . We should have rented a car
