My 4 friends and I stayed at this cottage for 4 days to celebrate our 10 years of being friends and we had a great time. The cottage was perfect for what we needed and Bob was always very quick at responding to any messages we sent. The Lake is so beautiful and peaceful, would definitely recommend this property!

I spent 4 nights here with my 3 adult children in May 2024.
The cottage was as advertised, beautiful location right on the lake. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. Sleeps in 8 people with one full bathroom and one two piece washroom.
Open concept of living and dinning rooms is spacious . Balcony had a BBQ, a big dining table and patio furniture.
We took 2 canoes out on the water every day. The weather and temperature were not for swimming but the water was clear and clean.
We didn’t have hot water for the shower ( only lukewarm). I am sure Bob would have resolved this issue instantly if we had informed him.
I suggest you read the instructions since there is some work involved at the end so you can plan for it.
At the end of the stay, you have to strip bed sheets, put them in the washing machine, collect your garbage/recycling and either take it with you or drive a short distance ( 10 minutes )to drop it off.
I would like to thank Bob who has been lovely to deal with, helpful and prompt with emails and messages.
We enjoyed our stay and hope to go back again soon.
Thank you, Bob !!
Lydia with family.

What a lovely week in the cottage beside a calm, crystal clear lake. 6 adults in our group and we had the most amazing time. We left relaxed and sad that we had to go

The property is beautiful, modern and tastefully decorated with all the comforts of home. We enjoyed star gazing on the dock, sitting in front of the wood burning fire place, sunning on the deck chairs and grilling on the bbq.
The atmosphere is relaxing and the view of the lake is stunning. The morning paddle in the canoe was amazing...Thank you so much for sharing your lovely place. We will back next year.

Perfect location: Beautifully appointed and spacious cottage on lovely, tranquil Little Kennisis lake. We were treated to stunning sunrises across the water. The cottage has fabulous indoor & outdoor space with comfortable seating. Enjoyed using the kayaks provided. First class communication from the owner. Excellent wifi connectivity! Lots to explore in the area. We would have loved to have stayed longer and definitely hope to return.

Clean, comfortable, well maintained and everything you could need can be found here.
Will be back in the warmer months to take advantage of the great outdoor surroundings.

Great experience.

The contractors that we hired to do our flooring at our new build were very pleased with the lovely cottage they were able to relax at after a day of hard work!

Beautiful location and waterfront cottage. Went when the snow was falling and this cottage is well equipped to support any season. Roomy with many conveniences. Will be back in warmer weather to enjoy the watersports. Bob is a gracious host readily available for any inquiry to accommodate the stay. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at this cottage. It was a bit chilly as it was during November, but the cottage had nice heating as well as an amazing fireplace. There was also a shelf full of fun boardgames, which we enjoyed later during the night when it got too cold out.
We couldn't hear a single sound except the nature, which was exactly what we had hoped! It was the perfect place to really get to enjoy each other's company :) It was a memorable couple of days overall.

Our stay was an extended weekend with immediate family, the cottage is stunning and left nothing to be desired. Super clean and very well equipped. The outdoor space was just as perfect and we even did a professional photo shoot while we were there. Had an amazing time and made some great memories. Bob is a very professional host and was extremely helpful, clear, and fast at responding. We couldn't be more pleased and will return again.

We stayed at the cottage for 4 nights in October. Bob was great to deal with. He was quick to get back with answers. The cottage is exactly how it appears. The kitchen has absolutely everything you need and then some. Having firewood available is an awesome plus as many places don't do that. There were 3 couples there and the cottage provided tons of space. It was a great experience for us and would rent again in a heartbeat.

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful cottage. The open concept kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed. The living/dining room was also spacious with a great view of the lake.
The bedrooms were roomy and the beds very comfortable. The bathroom was newly remodeled and nice and clean. We never ran out of hot water.
The outside space was amazing. A huge deck with two separate sitting areas, a desk at the waterfront with a fire table and a fire pit. The views were wonderful from any of these areas.
Bob was a great host. He answered all of my questions quickly.
We would definitely stay at this cottage again.

Beautifully appointed cottage , well equipped kitchen, and a gorgeous lakeside setting with many areas to lounge inside and outside. Spacious bedrooms and cozy beds and bedding. The cottage met our needs with respect to my husband's mobility issues and we even got him down to the water with the gentle sloping landscaping. The waffle maker was a big hit! BBQ worked like a charm and the new deck and furniture were very popular. Bob was very helpful and communicative and we thank him for the opportunity to experience his beautiful property.

This beautiful cottage was the perfect place for me, my husband, and our young daughter to stay for our vacation. The cottage was very clean and well maintained. The decor was so well done - cozy yet modern. It drew us in as soon as we arrived and made us feel right at home. In nice weather, there is lots to do outside - kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, swimming, having a fire, or relaxing on the balcony with a bbq. In rainy weather, there are games and books inside and they have a nice smart tv, so you can cozy in and watch your favourite show or movie on Netflix, etc.
We also had a really great experience with the property owner as well. He never bothered us during our stay, but was available by email, phone, or through the Vrbo app anytime we needed him. Any questions we had, he answered right away and was very helpful. He also provided detailed instructions before our stay, which helped a lot in preparing for our trip and know what to do when we got there.
This was hands-down the best cottage experience we’ve ever had. We loved it so much we wish we had stayed longer!

An amazing place, on a lake, we all had a great time.
We enjoyed beautiful mornings with a morning cuppa sitting next to the lake, swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding on the lake, making waffles (not something we make in UK very often!). We also watched the stars at night.
Loved watching the wildlife and the marina was a nice place to stop of for cake and smoothie.
Bob was really helpful, and responded quickly to our questions.
A fantastic place to end our holiday in Canada.

This cottage has it all! We stayed for a week and wish we could have stayed for 2 weeks! The amenities are above and beyond what you would want in a cottage experience. So many great spots to build memories on the property, including a fire pit and fire table. The steps to the beach are great and our teens played badminton in the water for hours. The property worked well for our family with teens as well as my senior parents. The little Kennisis lake is the perfect size for paddleboarding and you are very close to the big lake if you want to boat. The kitchen has everything that you need to cook a wonderful meal. The beds and bedding are really so comfortable. The only thing I would recommend is to bring beach towels and floating toys like noodles etc if you like that.
Thank you to Bob and family for sharing your cottage with us. We are looking at dates for next summer. ❤️
The Boswick’s
5.0 / 5.0
Lovely property. Located close to the water, with a reasonably gentle slope down to it. Excellent, clean, weed-free waterfront, with shallow, sandy walk-in. The only real disappointment was that according to the owner the water level varies greatly over the course of the summer, and the beach area shown in the listing does not appear until mid-August. As a result, our 3 year old grandson did not have a sandy area to play on, one of the things that attracted our attention to the listing (and the reason for the 4 stars for accuracy of listing). Cottage was expanded at some point with a separate bedroom area with its own 2 piece washroom, which would be handy if you were travelling with another couple or perhaps older parents to afford them more private quarters. A general store, including a beer store and LCBO licensee operation was about 20 minutes away. Haliburton and it’s expanded shopping was about 30 minutes away. If you have a boat, there is a substantial amount of waterway accessible from this location. High speed internet available, although we experienced outages throughout the week (which also resulted in a media blackout as the TV service was via the internet), which the owner can’t be faulted for. We had both Bell and Rogers phones with us. The Bell service was fine, our daughter had trouble with her Rogers service, although this seemed to be only with respect to data.
5.0 / 5.0
We were very pleasantly surprised as the cottage looked even better in person than in the photos. The location is fantastic on little lake Kennesis that connects with the larger lake. The stairs leading to the beach area (which was under water when we were there) was still great as it gave our kids and easy way to get access to the water. There were so many outdoor spaces, as they had just redone the deck which had plenty of space to eat outside and hang out. There is also a great fire pit area for real fires, and also a propane fire pit area (we did not use this area as it was a bit dangerous for small kids as they could easily slip through the railing which is perched above the water) but it looked like a beautiful area. The dock was also very large and well built. We did not end up renting the boat, but we did use the kayak and paddle board provided and we also brought another paddle board since we had two families staying there. This place was a perfect layout for two families wanting to stay together as there was almost 2 master bedrooms. One was on the other side of the cottage and had a separate laundry/office room with a 2 pc bath attached to it. This was perfect for our friends with an infant as they put the pack n play in that room right beside their room which was separate from the main living area of the cottage. The only downside for us with small children is that there was no real (yard) for them to run around without us being worried about the water.... but we expected that anyway so it wasn't a dissapointment. There was still lots of space for them to do some playing on the deck. The cottage was equipped with everything needed and we found it a huge bonus not to have to deal with bringing our own towels and having the ability to do laundry on site was great. We also loved the updates done to the cottage, kitchen and flooring was beautiful, and the main bathroom and shower was fantastic (families note no bath) but our kids loved the shower as it had a flexible shower head they could use to wash themselves. We would definitely recommend this place and stay here again! Thanks so much for the wonderful stay Bob! Cheers

Thank you, Bob, for a wonderful week at your Haliburton Highlands Cottage! We got in seamlessly, and were pleasantly surprised on arrival. We got everything we expected and more! In addition to renting your amazing power boat for the week, the canoe, multiple kayaks, a SUP were thoroughly enjoyed.
We've rented a lot of cottages and this avid home cook could not have been happier in this kitchen. While it is not a new kitchen - it was large, clean, the dishwasher worked fine, had tons of dinnerware & flatware, utensils and cookware. The inside dining table was barely used as we were outdoors a lot, but it had room for all 7 of us to sit and eat comfortably.
The outdoor spaces were wonderful and used at all times due to few bugs - awesome lake, brand new dock for swimming and lounging!
Evenings of cards and board games were cozy in the large living room. We also made good use of the big smart TV - Netflix, Disney plus, etc.
Thank you so much!

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage has everything you could want. It is clean, comfortable and well equipped. The property is lovely and the lake is fantastic. We enjoyed using the kayaks and SUP board. The fire pits are great and it is nice to have the choice of gas or a wood fire. Bob is a great host, who is happy to answer any questions you may have. I highly reccomend staying here.

Our stay on Lake Kennisis was 100% amazing. Everything in the cottage was exactly as advertised and we had zero problems to speak of. Plenty of room for everyone to find their own corner of the cottage to relax. Kitchen was well stocked with all the pots, pans and equipment you might need. The Waffle maker was a big hit with my kids. Lake was clean and fresh and wonderful to explore by kayak or paddleboard. Would definitely return. Thanks Bob.

My husband and I had a wonderful wintery week away at this beautiful and cozy cottage. Bob was a terrific host and was available before and during our trip for any questions that we had. My husband loves to cook and commented on how well outfitted the kitchen was. The area of the cottage was wonderful too - lots to see and do, even in the middle of winter. We took some great hikes, snow shoes, and even ice fished. The fireplace and TV/ bluetooth speaker were great for quiet nights in. We highly recommend visiting! Our only warning would be if you have any pet allergies, this is a pet-friendly cottage and the couch has a faint hint of the furry friend who lives there :)

We went up to Bob's cottage to escape and to celebrate a couple of birthdays. The cottage was as beautiful as described in the listing with all the comforts of home and then some. The view from the deck and dock were incredible and we managed to get a couple of clear nights of starry skies and a full moon. The quiet was just what we needed. A visit to the Wolf Center exceeded our expectations. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our birthday dinners and BBQ our steaks. Everyone loved the espresso machine. We immediately felt at home and relaxed to know Bob was just an email away if we needed anything, including having the driveway plowed when we had an unexpected snowfall. Can't wait to go back and try out the canoe!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage. It was very relaxing, and just what we needed to get away before winter. I especially loved that it was equipped with all the necessities needed. I appreciated that everything was clean and well maintained, right down to the fresh, warm, cozy beds. Bob was an amazing host and met us when we arrived to provide a quick overview of the cottage. He made made sure we were comfortable and made himself available if we had any questions. I wish we could have stayed longer and the weather cooperated a little better. We will have to plan another visit sometime soon, perhaps in the summer months where we can enjoy swimming and canoeing, but would gladly visit again any time of year!

We had a great time staying at this property. An accurate listing, great waterfront and amenities and great weather made for an excellent vacation. The host is very communicative and took great care of us. Would stay again!

Bob was an excellent host. Bob and his wife met us at the cottage (even though we were late arriving) and ran through a few things to familiarize us with the property. Property is exactly as depicted in the pictures and usage of the canoes and kayaks only enhanced the experience. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Bob.

While the weather wasn't as warm as we hoped, this cottage provides a truly relaxing experience. The cottage is well appointed, with everything you need for your stay including a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and plenty of towels. It currently has no tv, but this was great to help us disconnect from our every day. While we were not able to spend a ton of time on the water due to the weather, the time we did spend was lovely. Super clear water with a firm sand bottom. Looking forward to booking this cottage again earlier in the summer to take advantage of everything it has to offer. If you are looking for a place to unplug and relax, this is a good one.

The property is beautiful. Really loved the separate sleeping area with a beautiful view of the lake. The main cottage is also very beautiful and spacious and was spotless when we arrived. You are definitely in the wilderness with many trees and an amazing view of the evening stars. The lake is great for swimming, boating, sea dooing, etc. The owner is so pleasant and reachable at any time. We just loved our relaxing stay here and can't wait to go again.
