About this house rental
This lovely Southern Vermont home is centrally located and close to everything a group needs for a fantastic vacation. Minutes to Bromley, Magic, and Stratton mountains for the outdoor adventurers. Minutes to the quaint town of Londonderry, which has shops, bars, restaurants and an excellent small-town grocery store. Over the mountain and through the woods is the great small city of Manchester, offering fine dining, great shopping, golfing, and more.
The home is perfect for families or a group of friends looking to make some memories. A game room with a pool table, sauna, huge firepit, entertainment room, and workout room. We welcome long-term renters, the home has a private office and super-fast internet so you will not lag on those video conference calls.
The Space
The home has three bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom, and sleeps up to eight guests. An additional two guests can sleep on a pull-out couch in the downstairs media room, for a total capacity of ten guests for the home.
On the main floor is a full-stocked kitchen, with great appliances that the group’s chef will love, and plenty of silverware and plate ware for the house. All you need to do is bring the food! The dining room table seats up to eight, and there is a corner wood fireplace that will keep the room nice and toasty.
The game room is also on the main floor, with a pool table, bar, TV and plenty of seating. It is a great place to shoot a round or two while watching the game.
Downstairs is the entertainment room with a huge TV, the sauna, and the workout room. We have provided some weights for the workout room, but you are welcome to bring your own. It is a great place for those who would like to do yoga as well.
Out back is a very nice stone patio, perfect for enjoying those beautiful Vermont days and nights, and is quite private. There is a huge firepit, you are welcome to burn any downed trees and branches you find on the property.
The Perfect Experience
Since you are close to everything, you can have an eclectic vacation, doing a little of this and a little of that, or you can focus in on what your group loves to do. We recommend waking up with a nice cup of coffee or tea and enjoying the crisp and clean Vermont air out back, before cooking up breakfast or brunch in the kitchen.
The mountains are very close, only minutes away, so you can have a late morning ski session followed by lunch at the house, or in one of the mountain towns. Then you can hit the slopes again for an afternoon session, or catch the game in the game room while hosting a friendly billiards tournament.
As the sun sets, we recommend lighting a fire in the fireplace, or gathering wood for the firepit outback. As the fire crackles, you can toast with your favorite beverage, or a local selection from the nearby grocery store. For those with sore muscles, perhaps a visit to the sauna will do the trick.
The Neighborhood
One of the best features for winter renters is that the home is located in between three of the best mountains in Southern Vermont—Bromley, Stratton and Magic Mountain. Two excellent cross-country skiing centers, Wild Wings and Viking Nordic, are in the area as well. There are also options for snowmobiling. If this is not enough, Manchester and its surrounding areas offer several unique and unforgettable sleigh ride experiences, including dogsledding.
In the summer enjoy numerous hiking or cycling opportunities nearby. Bromley Sun Mountain Summer Park offers family adventures for the whole day of fun including New England’s longest zipline, Vermont’s longest water-slide raft ride, America’s longest triple-track Alpine Slide, climbing walls, mini-golf and much more. Stratton, Magic and Manchester have great golf courses as well. Fishers can purchase their license in town and pick up the Vermont Fishing Guide to find the hottest places to cast a line.
If you are looking for the small-town Vermont experience, the villages of South Londonderry and Londonderry are minutes away. Grab an incredible sandwich at The Corner Market Deli in South Londonderry, or grab a pint at The New American Grille in Londonderry. These small towns are fun to explore, with roadside farmer’s stands for the best produce you can imagine, small quaint shoppes to support local artists, and more.
The historic town of Manchester is only 25 minutes away. There you can enjoy many fine restaurants. You may also visit the highly rated Equinox Golf Resort and Spa in the center of town which offers a wide range of activities: Land Rover Experience Driving School offers full day of off-road driving instructions on the 80-acre purpose-built course. Green Mountain Falconry School offers a rare opportunity to handle a trained hawk. Orvis Fly Fishing School will show you how to best set up, select your fly, tie knots and more on fully stocked casting ponds and the Battenkill River. Orvis Shooting School offers beginning and experienced shooters new techniques based on the English Churchill technique. The complete shooting system is applicable to upland hunting, waterfowling, and sporting clays.
The Dorset Summer Theatre Festival, Vermont Horse Show and Southern Vermont Art Center are nearby.
Manchester Designer Outlets provide a unique Vermont shopping experience - over 40 designer outlets are housed in authentically restored Vermont structures – enjoy beautiful views, wonderful food, and substantial savings in one of top shopping getaways in New England.
**We have one outdoor security camera that overlooks the parking area and driveway, and is there for your protection and ours.

Great stay at the Sherwood house! We went skiing at Magic which was super close by. House was awesome and well equipped. Great room with a pool table and bar was the highlight for our group. Also a nice jacuzzi tub in the master and sauna on the lower level. Really liked the workout / mud room on the lower level for bring gear in from the driveway and airing out wet clothes after skiing.

House was clean and cozy. We enjoyed the large dining area for family dinners and games at night after a fun day of snowboarding. The living room was a great place to gather for some pool table and chess competitions. The owner was very nice to deal with, responsive and got back to us within minutes. We highly recommend renting this home.

Property and communication with property manager was great.

We had a nice weekend, went skiing at Stratton which was an easy drive and the house is close to the shops and restaurants in Londonderry.

Perfect house for a large group that can sleep 10 very comfortably. Everything is as nice and exactly as the pictures show.
Large lawn space out front for activities, flood lighting for nighttime and parking for 4-5 cars off to the side. Very large fire pit out back with chairs and firewood on site. Gas grill on the deck that was provided with a full tank.
Inside there is a big family room with a pool table and loft space with two beds. Fully stocked kitchen with cookware, dinnerware, utensils, coffee makers (Keurig and regular), toaster, microwave and everything else you may need. Downstairs has another family room and the bedroom with 4 bunk beds as well as the washer/dryer and sauna room. There is also a large exercise room.
Everything you could need in a house was provided by the hosts, but there is a grocery store and retail only a few minutes drive away.
Not a negative thing to say about the property. The hosts provided a great experience and we're easily reachable. The house was extremely clean and all basic necessities and more were included. 5 stars all around and would look forward to booking again.

Initial contact and check in process was very smooth and easy. Host contact was very responsive and checked with us as we arrived. Upon arrival it took us a while to get the door open as the lower entry way door had swelled and would not budge. Upon leaving we mentioned it to the housekeeper and she said that she had hoped they had fixed this. While getting settled we found the TV was out, no electric in the upstairs bedroom and the sauna wasn’t working so I contacted the host. The property manager was at another site but did send out someone else within an hour. They were nice but did not have a lot of knowledge about the house. The only thing that was resolved was the sauna had tripped at the breaker and was reset. The following day another gentleman stopped by but still nothing else was fixed. The fire pit was overgrown with grass and the seating was old and unorganized. The inside cabinets in the kitchen needs some cleaning and organizing. There were dead bugs or droppings in one of the drawers and dead gnats in the fridge water dispenser area. I contacted the host when checking out letting them know all the items that needed attention to be helpful and bring it to their attention. They were not apologetic and was more concerned as to why I didn’t notify them earlier. We only stayed 4 nights and were on the go so we enjoyed our stay as none of the items were deal breakers. I didn’t feel comfortable complaining while we were staying in the house. My opinion is that most of the items should have been handled prior to our arrival and didn’t feel it was my responsibility to notify them while we were there. The host was more concerned with me not notifying him earlier and questioned me if I would be writing a negative review. I requested a partial refund as we didn’t feel the property was all that was described. He did let me know after the stay that the TV was out due to a line being out so that was no fault of the host. The host was adamant about questioning me whether I would post a negative review if they did not give me a partial refund. I don’t think that was right to ask me this. I received the security deposit and followed up questioning their decision on refunding an agreed upon amount. Their response was that the security deposit was refunded and again I questioned whether an additional amount would be returned. No response since the notice of the security deposit being refunded. Overall house/location was nice, zero stars for the host.

From the minute I booked the property owners were responsive and in touch. The were ready to attend to any need or question. In our exchange back and forth it was clear the house was set up for a really nice experience w easy access to skiing. My trip was cancelled so the ratings are based on photos, but I was really impressed by how attentive they were, I have rented on Vrbo before and never experienced that. Thanks!
