Small hotel, great friendly service with a good breakfast.
Small hotel in the middle of Bordeaux, walking distance from all. They arranged a daily taxi for us as being in that part of the city, It is hard to get an uber. Would definitely stay agian.

Friendly and helpful staff, excellent room, clean, safe area. Lobby bar has cool vibe. Hotel is in excellent location with plenty of restaurants & shopping close by. The streets of Bordeaux are very small, many closed off to traffic. Local building are very old but well kept. I felt safe and people & families were walking about. Taxi to train station was on $6.50.

Extremely convenient situation right in the centre of things. Very quiet and relaxing, lovely bar and excellent breakfast.

Thé hotel service js good and the hotel condition is good.
If you are a larger person you will need to breathe in or inhale to be able to close the shower door. I’m not especially large but I had to do this .

Located just off the main shipping and pedestrian area, the hotel is in a small, quiet street. The area felt safe (we were 3 senior ladies with some mobility issues) and very accessible.
Everyone staffing the front desk was fluent in English, friendly and efficient.
Now that you have to request shampoo and cream rinse if you need it; it is not automatically supplied in the rooms.
We had two rooms, one was on the first floor, handicapped accessible, and comfortably large and one (the single room) was elevator accessible and quite small but also comfortable to sleep in.
The bar was a nice lounge that also functioned as a very comfortable meet-up space. (We only had wine but it was fully stocked.) During the day, before it was open to serving, it was a lovely, uncrowded place to wait, relax with friends, or read and reply to email. It has an old-world feel to it with me-, world comforts in it's seating.

I have stayed here 5 times over 2 years. The hotel has in my opinion become a little shabby.

Great location, nice room but quite small, great shower

Great location, fantastic service, just what was needed for a two night break. Not flash, just clean and comfortable.

first of all very great staff and very friendly with great English. We hv free crissant available (time to time) as well as wster refill, and mint water too!
secondly, ver excellent location, cannot beat this, 5 mins to Gambetta square where along that 5 mins walk to Gambetta there are many high end stores like louis vuitton, hermes, lancet, etc. as well as lical leather made, there is also a BK Burger King is at the corner there.
Majestic but very old Cathedral St Andre is about 7 mins walk. Rue Catherine shopping, the longest pedestrian stores in France... about 15 minn walk. The road (rue temple) in front of the hotel is not accessible by car, and either the next wide road at the end of rue temple where thr trams are passing by, this is just 3 minutes from hotel.
The hotel it self is a renovated 200 year old building, very beautifully snd neatly done! Huge white blocks of stones are visible on the wall, especially around a beautiful stair case. The room is not big but enough for both of us, great shower room good size 2x4 ft with both rain head and handheld shower head! , bed, room light is good too, etc.

Lovely hotel. We were upgraded to a deluxe comfort room. Check in was easy and staff very helpful. The rooms were clean and well decorated, comfortable beds and air conditioning too!
Bordeaux is a beautiful city.
Driving around isn’t easy as it’s mostly pedestrianised but the staff in the hotel were very helpful with directions and maps and we received discounted parking locally, with our stay.
Family friendly - yes.

### Review of Best Western Grand Hotel Francais in Bordeaux, France
I recently enjoyed another pleasant stay at the Best Western Grand Hotel Francais in Bordeaux. Having stayed here multiple times, I can confidently say this hotel consistently meets my expectations, and I would gladly return.
**Highlights:**
- **Great Location:** The hotel is centrally located, making it easy to walk to key attractions such as the Grand Theater and the river.
- **Cleanliness:** The rooms and common areas are impeccably clean.
- **Wonderful Staff:** The reception staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, enhancing the overall experience.
- **Eco-Friendly Amenities:** The new water dispenser system near the reception is a fantastic addition, helping to reduce plastic waste.
**Room and Amenities:**
- The rooms, though small, are creatively designed to maximize space. For business travelers like myself who primarily need a place to sleep, the room size is not an issue.
- The rooms are well-maintained and equipped with all necessary amenities.
**Breakfast:**
- The breakfast is good, offering a variety of options without being overly grand. However, both the rooms and breakfast are on the expensive side, which is typical for Bordeaux.
Overall, Best Western Grand Hotel Francais remains my top choice for accommodation in Bordeaux due to its prime location, cleanliness, and excellent service. Despite the small room size and higher costs, the positive aspects make it a worthwhile stay.

Great location.

Very small hotel on side road near best spots in downtown area. Most things walkable. Rooms small but efficient and quiet.
Lobby bar was very eclectic and great vibe. Theo, bartender, was amazing and made returning each evening a fun experience!

Beautiful hotel tucked away on a quiet street in a bustling part of town. Has a great hotel bar.

Conveniently located in the city centre. Public transit is close, even from the airport. The small window shades cannot be pulled up becsuse of broken string so it remained down all the time.

We spent three nights at the Best Western Grand Hotel Francais and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful (other than one somewhat minor issue) and the hotel itself was outstanding. The room was not large, but it was very comfortable. The property is in a great location right in the heart of downtown Bordeaux and easy to walk to almost all of the attractions. The small issue was with the bathroom door handle coming off which was not fixed the night we identified it to the front desk- but we were able to work around it and it did not affect our stayl

My only negative comment, the size of our room. We barely could move around at the same time and the bathroom too,, couldn’t raise both arms at the same time. Otherwise we enjoyed the hotel and the staff were wonderful!

The Staff were fantastic, very helpful. Had a few drinks in bar and my other half wanted a cocktail that wasn't on the menu. The bartender just went ahead and researched the cocktail and made a perfect 'Lemon Drop' very happy partner. The area is nice and very close to shopping/river/restaurants

Due to an unplanned medical event we couldn't travel. I've never had a reason to cancel a stay previously.
Absolutely no flexibility from this hotel. Wouldn't swap to another off peak stay, wouldn't even discuss it, perhaps with a monetary loss for me.
I hope the bad karma hits you. Of course I'll never use your chain again, anywhere. And I've been telling all my friends about your unhelpful attitude.
Surprises happen in life, but how you respond is up to you. You could have resold the room, you probably did anyway...
So, some kind of flexibility would have been possible.
Best of luck with your business. I do hope you manage to make loads of profit for your gluttonous shareholders.

Booked this to celebrate a big birthday. It was a lot more expensive than many other hotels in the area but decided to splash out on a little luxury, based on reviews. It really was not worth the money. It's a basic three-star hotel, which in France probably equates to a 2 star in Ireland. Room was tiny. It was clean, admittedly, but it was a bit shabby (old tired A/C machine that looked grubby). The fan in the bathroom did not work, which was an issue given the fact that the bathroom was on the inside of the room with no window. The shower was OK, but I had only very tepid water for one shower on the day we checked out. View was of the fire escape, and often of other guests leaning out their windows to smoke. I contacted hotels.com to comolain and spent a frustrating hour being passed around to 3 different agents, all of whom apologised but did nothing else to help. Tried at reception and was greeted with that most French of responses, the Gallic shrug, which conveyed complete and total dismissiveness. Staff were at best brusque, verging on rude, which is not usual for Bordeaux. Luckily, restaurants were lovely in the town, but the hotel definitely took away from what was meant to be a special weekend away. We could have stayed in other 3 star establishments for literally half what we paid here. Avoid it if there is anywhere else moderately clean available

This is a terrific location for walking or reaching the sights of Bordeaux by tram or bus. The staff is excellent - friendly and very helpful in getting us to where we wanted to go. The breakfast is outstanding and the rooms are comfortable and clean.

Stunning hotel right in the heart of the city. Extremely helpful staff. Beautiful bar and reception areas. Immaculately clean. Very eco friendly. I had a standard double room and it was smaller than expected but top quality. I would definitely return to this hotel and highly recommend.

It was great, small room, but well organized.
Amazing bar! Super-friendly staff!

Overall a nice place to stay with a fantastic location. You must leave the room key behind the desk before leaving the hotel which was slightly inconvenient and the superior room was still quite small. The fire alarm went off twice during one of the nights. However, the staff were overall very friendly and helpful and the location is ideal for visiting the city of Bordeaux! I would recommend this hotel for a short city break!

The building was beautiful, the staff were amazing. The bar downstairs was fantastic and the mixologists knew everything about every cocktail. We loved our stay.

Cozy little hotel with a lovely bar situated just off the Main Street. Room was a good size for European standards. We had a lovely balcony that’s furnished with a table and two chairs. Overlooking a quiet street. Conveniently located for the tram to the airport and pretty much anywhere else you’d wish to go in Bordeaux. The staff were super friendly. Cleanliness was spot on. Plenty restaurants, bars and shops nearby. Overall, a great stay! We’d definitely return.

Well situated in the center of the old city. Staff were unfailingly helpful and professional. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was exceptional. Would unhesitatingly recommend.

Solo stay to watch the rugby, great location in the old city area, shops, bars & restaurants all close by, great architecture, city and river walks 👍👍

Made a last minute booking which went smoothly and the staff were very agreeable and welcoming to us and our dog. The room was very clean and tidy, breakfast a bit more than basic, and the location is very central but in a mostly pedestrianised area so parking is several blocks away. My only suggestion is to provide parking details with the booking confirmation which would have saved us having to find parking and then move our car to the closer, discounted parking (still 3-4 blocks from the hotel).

The front desk Malika and Sarah ave’s their tasks! Information, extremely helpful, professional and charming. A+
Room service was very satisfying also.
A few towel holders/hooks would be appreciated in the bathroom.
