Fabulous location overlooking Lake Maggiore, and across the road from the ferry port, making it super-easy to visit the Borromeo Islands and even Switzerland! The room was beautifully clean and comfortable. What was particularly nice was the free coffee bar in the lounge and the "sweetie bar" in reception, and the welcome drinks & nibbles were an exceptional touch. Everything is within close walking distance, with lots of nearby restaurants and cafés. Would definitely stay here again.

Really nice hotel, perfectly situated by the water and the old town, Intra, accessible right behind the hotel. Breakfast buffet also very nice, small but exquisite.

I’ve been visiting Ancora for over 10 years and I never tire of this hotel and it’s location and views of Lago Maggiore. Breakfast is fantastic, parking is easy. Not a resort, it’s a simple business-style hotel but it’s fantastic.

Fabulous beautiful Fantastic location!!!! 10 stars ***** You will love friendly staff and awesome Linens on very upscale beds. The rooms are great size and you will enjoy the thick towels and housekeeping. Great Great Great !!!!!!

Seems to be ine of the best hotels aound the area, but well just for one night it was fine. Quite old though, room is small and nothing special. Did not try the breakfast here. Location is great.

Definitely not a 4 Star Hotel, maybe back in the 1980s, the first room we were allocated was really poor,however the staff did eventually move us into an attic room 5 levels up? The breakfast was ok(fairly repetitive). There was one member of staff who was very helpful (Marta) overall great location but wouldn’t return to this hotel, one other major point if taking you car to this location be prepared for a large parking cost!!!

Excellent hotel with very friendly Excellent staff . Even though it’s right on the main road. The windows are so good you can’t hear anything when they’re closed. Also the room air conditioner is fantastic. It was in the upper 90s outside we stayed. And I actually got the room too cold. The free breakfast is excellent as well. Fresh squeezed orange juice, and a vegetable juice machine. Even had sparkling wine. I will stay here every time I’m in the area.

The Hotel Ancora is very well situated acros sthe harbor in Verbania. It´s a older hotel, but renovated and very nice. The room was compact, but space was used well and in general - comfortable and suited the purpose. The town main square and "old town" just around the corner - just reach-out and enjoy. The breakfast was splendid, full continental breakfast - perfect start of a day full of exploration! As we arrived, there was an power-failure, why AirCon took some time to get re-started by personal - which was needed in 32°C at 22:00h in evening. Don´t miss out on Verbania, a lot of small charming restaurants and wine coffees. Once in Verbania - don´t miss the opportunity to dine at restaurant "Piccolo Lago". The restaurant has 2 Guide Michelin stars - serves a dinner experience that´s unforgettabla and well affordable!

Friendly helpful staff. Very clean. Close to ferry for visiting around the lake. It is over 100km from the airport so you need to be aware that trsnsport might be expensive.

Overall great, however during our stay we experienced live bands playing right next to the hotel until 00:20. Noise level was very disturbing for us. Other consideration should be that most of the apartments are not barrier free.

Beautiful hotel right on the waterfront in Verbania! Great location, close to restaurants and steps away from the main ferry - staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, hotel is very clean and very well taken care of. Wouldn’t look to stay anywhere else if we found ourselves back near Lake Maggiore in the future!

A small hotel with exceptional personal attention. Great care was taken to make the stay special, with help always available for information or to correct any problem. Marco, the General Manager, was frequently around checking all was totally satisfactory, and his staff all seem motivated. The location is excellent, very close to the ferry stop to visit the other parts of the lake and its islands. Shops, supermarket, restaurants and coffee shops all within easy distance. The bed was very comfortable and the room had tea/coffee making facilities (rare in Italian hotels). Breakfast was excellent- one of the best we've experienced in Italy. Meat, cheese, eggs, fruit, croissants, locally produced butter, honey straight from the comb, freshly squeezed orange juice, etc etc - what more can I say? This is a special hotel.

We did not expect such a nice hotel for the price. Building is small but well appointed, the room was big enough for three people and was tastefully decorated. We had a beautiful view of the lake too.

I went to Verbania for a long weekend to attend a wedding. I stayed in a single room, modest in size, but suitable enough for my needs. The water pressure for the tub/shower was good which was nice. Warning: bring your own toilet paper because the hotel uses cocktail size single sheets of hard paper towel in their dispensers. The noise from the hallway or outside might annoy the unseasoned traveller. The location is about a 30min walk along the water front to the centre of town, but I preferred that because I like the exercise. The lakeshore path is directly across the street from the hotel. There is a grocery store 1 block away to get beverages and snacks...great place to go if you want to have a picnic. I didn't eat or use the bar at the hotel, so I can't comment on the food/service The hotel staff was super friendly and spoke English fluently. Note: you need to book your return shuttle to malpensa 48hours in advance, or you could be subjected to 2hr+ bus/trains. A taxi will cost you 120euro incl tip.

Good small hotel directly in front of the Lake Maggiore, with beautiful views (especially sunrise) and excellent access to shopping in downtown Intra. Staff is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

This family-run hotel is located closed to Alba, Piemont. 5 minutes car drive. Quiet location in flat fields. Not very scenic. Very friendly staff. Rooms are ok for the price. Some rooms have a connection door to the next room. In case you get such a room make sure that the other room is not occupied (doors not soundproof). There is currently some construction ongoing close to the swimming pool, so the pool ambience is a bit industrial. Would recommend hotel only for a stop-over ion the Alba region.
