We arrived to a massive queue of people waiting to check in, only 2 staff on and one kept disappearing. There was a real odd odour in the lobby, like wet carpet. had to wait mins to check in. Lift was filthy dirty and again a bad smell. Room had a damp patch on the ceiling where it had tried to be painted over but paper had split under the weight of the paint. one of the towels was clearly dirty with stains on in the bath room and stained flooring. The front steps were littered with detritus. I can honestly say I would never stay here again or recommend it.

Classic Historical Hotel, in extensive disrepair. Formica marble cladding to bathroom walls. Bathroom door jammed. Loose bath panels. Rusty sink fittings. World's thinnest toilet paper. Broken door handle. Exhaust fan not working. 30 min queue at check-in.

The place was clean and tidy. It was a good place to stay for 2 nights in the city centre. But the bathroom is abit dated and its needs updating but it worked fine
3.4
Gammelt slitt hotell.

Room was ok. Bathroom was ok. As room was at front of hotel was a bit noisy. Next time would request room x
Nice and warm. Reception staff were nice
3.4
Tired but still elegant hotel. Needs updating but the history is magnificent. Room was good but the bathroom was very poor. The bath requires renewal, something out of the '70's.
3.4
Rooms red hot can’t open window and then when you have a shower may as well have a bath as the bath fills with water. Old and run down and charging 85 a night for that is a bit much

Just overnight, comfortable bed, good shower…

Just needed attention. Such a classic hotel

Just needed somewhere to sleep close to Lime Street. It was ok for a solo traveller and far cheaper than most hotels in the city centre - it has old fashioned rooms and reception area but it is clean. I found it hard to sleep because of the loud plumbing/boilers every few mins and the bed was not great; I could feel the springs. The shower was poor and not good water pressure but I had a bath instead and that was fine. Weirdly there was no main light in my room either, just lamps at the bedside.
I arrived at the hotel late - there were some unsavoury characters near the entrance and I had to show bouncers my confirmation email just to reach reception which was a little alarming but I get that it was a Saturday night in the city centre so the security was probably necessary.

Unable to open a window.

Real enjoy my stay for shopping the hotel was good very clean and near by everything my room was very big

As ever, Britannia hotels are generaaly tired, and run into the ground. The Adelphi is a grand hotel, with it's fantastic history. However, a lack of investment is quite telling. That said the room was comfortable enough.

First room didn't have a shower but was moved quickly and easily to another

As a place to rest your head, it did its job. I’ve stayed in more comfortable hostels though.
The whole hotel looks like it has been waiting for a refurbishment since the late 90’s! The bed I slept in was extremely firm, the soundproofing in the rooms was poor so you heard doors slamming up and down the hallway. The furniture in the room was a bit battered, the bathroom was shabby and the bath tub especially had peeling enamel. The windows were old with poor secondary glazing (that might be a restriction due to the age of the building though).
As if to underline the need for work, one of the 2 lifts was out of commission on the second evening…not good for a hotel with rooms over 6 floors!
To sum up it was a very tired and shabby hotel. Its location was great for our needs and it did its job for the weekend. But I would probably not stay there in future unless it has an extensive renovation!

Delightful receptionist checked me in. I realised it was a cheap Britannia hotel, and only cost so much because it was the week of Labour Party conference. Dilapidated with some public rooms giving an idea of its former grandeur. Vouchers for everything. Didn’t bother getting a breakfast voucher, ate out each morning. Room got very cold by day 3, there was a thermostat above the top of the door so not accessible without a ladder. Blanket throw on the bed became a shawl. Hairdryer with a regular plug can’t be used in the bathroom which is the only place with a mirror. A shaver point was also up high just under the ceiling so it was lucky I didn’t need to charge my electric toothbrush. No main light, two table lamps operated from a switch by the bed which was handy. A single room with a double bed, pushed against the wall to make space to walk around. Five days stay, I hadn’t realised they only clean the rooms when the guest checks out. I just managed to have a cup of tea each evening before the supplies ran out, and as I was on my own there were enough towels to keep me going. There was an armchair and a desk chair which aren’t always provided in small hotel rooms. But I did need to make the bed as the sheet came adrift. The cold tap can’t be turned on without flooding. A very handy location for the city centre and Lime Street station, and the grand lounge area is good to sit in if you need somewhere a bit more warm and comfortable during the day.

Absolutely fantastic hotel with lovely helpful staff nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent 👌

It was cheap and I got what I paid for. The room was a good size and clean, albeit tatty and dated. A lack of plug sockets was a bit of a problem. Overall, I checked in at 1800 and out again at 0830 the next morning so it ticked all the boxes for what I needed, I slept well and it was comfortable.

Amazing location

Stayed here a few years ago. It was not very nice but hotel and especially staff have improved

Stunning historic ocean liner days grand hotel that has not been carved up. The size of the lounge has to be seen to be believed, photos don't do it justice. Very few of these left in original architecture.

Stayed with friends on a long weekend. Our rooms were on the 5th floor & had been renovated recently so very good. They were on 3rd floor in the old style rooms so not as good. Maid did not come in at all during our 3 night stay. Hotel is in a great location though so usually our hotel of choice for that reason when in Liverpool. Should not have to pay extra for Wi-Fi.

Couldn’t sleep due to loud music from a nearby club and couldn’t close the window fully. Uncomfortably hard pillow as well.
Friendly staff and a decent breakfast.
3.4
It was a good stay. There were not any amenities like a pool etc.
It was really close to Liverpool lime st Station
3.4
The hotel itself was very good, but as with other Britannia properties, the check in was very slow, with too few staff trying to help too many people with check in, luggage, other issues etc.

When we walked in we thought the hotel was lovely from the reception area. However, when we went to our room the opinion changed. Our room had cracks in the ceiling, dirty windows, cracked paint around the window, no main light and the tv couldn’t get working. We also left our bags in the storage facility to come back and collect them, when we did we found the storage room left open which we was unimpressed about. We won’t be staying here again unfortunately.

Comfortable bed. Ironing board and iron available in the wardrobe. Room was quiet enough but the area was very rowdy outside. Very close to Irish bars. High police presence Saturday night. Rooms not serviced daily for a 3 night stay. No safe in the rooms. Internet facility not included. Had to go to reception to obtain more tea bags.
3.4
Good Walking distance to Lime Street Station.

Room 271. Overall good. But ... Hot water tap was the only tap that worked in the shower. To have a shower was very difficult! Besides, part of the radiator was fully covered with limescale. Definitely not good if the Cleaning team put all the towels on the radiators. Maintenance team, it is easy to fix it!!

This is hotel really just needs to be cared for. It's a fabulous old building but needs significant investment to bring it up to par.
Staff are polite and efficient and the hotel is in a great location - price was pretty reasonable too.
However, the room was very tired and not the cleanest I have ever stayed in. Areas of the bathroom had seen better days and there were a few repairs needed.
On the positive side, the beds were adequate enough and the room was a good size - plus it had a decent TV and plenty of hanging space for clothes.
Corridors looked drab and carpets need cleaning or replacing in areas.
Overall, probably wouldn't stay again unless absolute desperate!

Staff were good. Location excellent. Room slightly dated. Overall good value for price paid.

The hotel had a few beautiful areas inside but really needs updating as it’s a little tired. But on the whole it was ok for the price paid. Check in staff were very polite.

Dated room, not very clean
3.4
Hot water in shower and bath not working! Reported it and said someone be up to fix it. Hadn’t by 2nd day evening time, offered to move but meant packing all up. Offered 10% via Expedia….still waiting on it!!
3.4
Had a good stay room was eactly where needed at the lift but room was clean but very very dated and quute small. Key card system was a bit of a nitemare having to go back and forth to get it sorted but overall very central and clean and clise to everything
3.4
Great value for money. Massive room. Full of character. Only downside was the £13 parking charge.
3.4
A bit like walking through a wormhole back into the 70's. But a really nice change to staying in a premier inn/Travelodge
