The Garret was very quaint!
For us, the downfall was it is over a very busy committee pub

We were booked in for a 3 night stay, but unfortunately due to illness had to curtail our visit. However, in the short time we were there, the hotel/bar staff were very pleasant & helpful. The dinner was very good and the bed was very comfortable. The Garret was in a convenient position for a walk around the town/harbour etc.
We fully intend to return to complete our visit to the lovely area.

Very clean and comfortable. A bit noisy from the bar around late afternoon, early evening, but not late in the evening. Lovely staff, great breakfast, excellent location.

Great stay in Kirkudbright, helped by amazing weather.
Hotel staff brilliant, very friendly and helpful.
Wr had a twin bedded room. The beds were a bit springy and the one was up against a wall, but we slept well. Excellent breakfast, well cooked and good coffee as well.
Only downside, but only sleight was the bathroom, which was tiny. I am both tall and wide and the shower was a very tight fit.
With good weather, to sit in the garden was lovely.

Breakfast and dinner were excellent although the last orders for dinner is a little early at 7.45 pm. Excellent Wi-Fi. What did let the place down was that you could only open the bedroom window by a tiny amount. It was ridiculously hot in the bedroom and like sleeping in a sauna. We hardly got any sleep as a result. The bedroom didn’t cool down much during the night because you couldn’t open the window very much.

Wonderful full breakfast available in the dining room, and a lively pub and beer garden adjacent to the hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a wonderful time!

Lovely, cosy little hotel with B&B vibe. Bed extremely comfortable; well-sized bathroom. Very quiet (don't worry about the bar downstairs). Excellent location in the heart of wonderful Kirkcudbright. Very helpful and friendly staff. Delicious, generous breakfast too. Will recommend to friends and family, and hope to stay here again.

The room is basic but it’s clean. The shower is small. The pub is the main business, the rooms being an add on. The pub food is well priced but they stop serving early, at 7 in the evening when I went. In fact everything seems to close early. The pub was shut by 1030. The Garret is central, with everything in easy walking distance and easy parking on the street.

The Garret is a wonderful place to stay. Audrey and all her service personnel are top notch. The Chief prepares outstanding meals. The marinated chicken we ate was absolutely delicious. The location is within easy walking distance of all sites and places of interest in Kirkcudbright. We would recommend this hotel to anyone. Additionally, for what you receive to what you pay it is almost a steal.

The hotel has been completely refurbished and is under new management. Audrey made us very welcome and provided excellent advice on what to see and where to eat as well as wonderful breakfasts! The family room was a good size and the original window shutters had been restored, ensuring we were all able to sleep until 8.30. Great base for exploring Kircudbright and surrounding area.

Situated in the centre of town this hotel is in process of reopening after major refurbishment. It’s quite a grand building with some period features. All bedrooms appear to have new beds, bedding, fixtures and fittings and are comfortable, at time of my visit in summer 2018 bar area was not complete so hotel was very quiet and running as a b&b with no signage up, so a bit tricky to spot at first. Breakfasts are cooked individually rather than buffet style, good selection of local ingredients but I wasn’t asked whether I wanted everything I was given and it would have been nice to have more choice and some options of how my eggs were cooked. The new owner is doing most of the work herself at the moment and was great, she’ll need staff to assist when busier.
