Room 301 on this property is simply awful. This street level room faces the sun all day which requires the roll down shade be closed at all times for privacy and to keep out as much heat as possible because there is no air conditioning. The windows themselves need to be open for air circulation but this means lots of noise. The room faces the courtyard where cars and motorcycles idle a few short meters from the open windows and next to the entry door for building 3 so people are always walking past and chatting, smoking or banging suitcases. The bathroom window opens into a small tunnel that amplifies every conversation and sounds from the popular restaurants directly behind the building. After all that, there are the normal sounds from birds, rainstorms and church bells ringing on the quarter hour. There are 10 parking spots for 38 rooms so you have to contact the property directly to reserve one in advance or hope you can snag one when someone checks out. Other local parking is free overnight until 7:00 but you have to feed the meter every 3 hours during the day. The location is great and the town is beautiful but our room was a big disappointment.

Even over the Christmas Holidays when staffing can be problematic, the service was outstanding. Nice, large rooms, excellent breakfast. They helped us with unusual requests due to holiday closings of nearby restaurants, etc. Great small-city atmosphere near the train to the big city.

Perfect for a budget conscious traveller. Location is absolutely fine. Short walking distance to all that Erlangen has to offer. Many rooms have been refurbished and on my recent stay I was fortunate to have one. A good size and very comfortable. I am sure many may ask for mini bars, coffee making facilities, irons (the list goes on) but we are seeking a room for the evening not planning to reside there. For the price it is more than acceptable. Breakfast is extra but again many of us are too busy or are not in the mood to have a hearty breakfast everyday. Having stayed in most (if not all) the hotels in the Erlangen area I am happy to recommend Grauer Wolf as an extremely decent ‘value for money establishment.....

Rey acceptable hotel. Location fairly central and plenty of restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk. Hotel has been going through some upgrades for a good while but look beyond the cosmetics of wiring etc. Perfectly comfortable, breakfast reasonable and staff friendly. Does not offer evening meals and the bar is dated and lacking any atmosphere, but no doubt this will be renovated in time. Possibly needs a good injection of money to finish the refurbishment. Personally I am not put off by the few shortcomings and location and value still score well.

Perfect location in the city of Erlangen. Walking distance (5 mins) from train/bus station. Centre of town and lots of restaurants nearby. University park 5 mins away.

We extended our stay two days as we liked Erlangen and this hotel. Staff went way beyond expectations with our unusual requests. The location near the university makes for lively cheap but excellent eats and the best local beer you will ever taste. That means a little street noisy at night, but only slightly so.

A simple yet comfortable hotel within walking distance of the railway station with convenient connections to Nuremberg. The rooms are quite small and furnishings are quite basic. The sauna on the second floor is definitely a bonus, especially on winter evenings. The breakfast is good; Wi-Fi was a bit patchy during my stay. Certainly a much better value alternative to city centre hotels especially during major exhibitions. Erlangen itself is very pretty and has some good restaurants and bars. There is also a major Kaufland supermarket within a few minutes of the hotel. I would certainly go back there again.

Stayed in Erlangen while attending a trade fare in Nurnberg. Town is really charming. Trains are fantastic a very regular. This hotel is very easy walk to the station along very interesting streets. Hotel is basic but also very good. Staff 10 out of 10. Good breakfast and Wifi. Shower a little small. Altogether 9/10!

I stayed in a single room. It was small, but a perfect size for me. The bed was comfortable and and quite cozy. The room was exceptionnaly clean. The hotel is a very short walk from the center of Erlangen. Most impressive was the staff; they were so friendly and willing to go out of their way to make the stay even more pleasant. The hotel also serves breakfast and dinner. I really appreciates the healthy breakfasts that were so convenient. I also had dinner at the hotel one night, and it was fabulous!
