A lovely room with stunning views. Lovely hosts who were very welcoming.

We had a fabulous stay and were made very welcome. Colleen gave us great restaurant recommendations and kindly made reservations too. All of the restaurants were excellent.
Our room was very comfortable with excellent views. The lounge area was great for evening card games with friends.
Cecil makes a really tasty breakfast, the eggs were super!! Thanks Cecil 😀

We had such a lovely stay at Hide Away Guest House Knysna. We felt such a warm welcome on our arrival there. Stunning room and oh that view of the lagoon is just breathtaking. And on top of all, delicious breakfast served every morning. We definitely recommend them to each and everyone x

Colleen and Cecil were always available, friendly and helpful with tips about restaurants and site-seeing. The house was built in 1940 and is opposite the Knysna lagoon, just next to the N2 Highway on the way into/out of town. The house was classily decorated but the room had air conditioning, electric blankets, espresso machine, outdoor sitting area on the veranda and views of the heads. Breakfast was nice with plunger coffee, cheeses, eggs, muesli, fruit and juice. A lovely couple interested in current events and filling us in on their part of the world.

Everything was perfect, nothing to dislike, great host, excellent recommendations of places to visit and eat/drink. Very comfortable bed, stunning views from our balcony. Nice breakfasts and good conversation with the host Colleen, wouldn't hesitate to recommend

No value for your money
The place are old. The room smells old There is no a private balcony as the picture. No privacy at all!!!The forget to worth the the most busy road N2 it’s in a front of the room and it’s very crowded from the cars.
It’s difficult to sleep.
No hot weather .
It’s not worth the money.!!!

Colleen and Cecil made us very welcome at the guest house.

I thought that the property was more secluded rather than being a short distance from the main road. The room was very pleasant as was our hostess. The area was very nice and easy walking distance from the tourist areas.
As a general comment on the garden route I would not recommend it and am surprised that it is so highly reviewed. I was very disappointed.

Very nice and safe location over-viewing the bay. Hosts are very friendly with a lot of good hints for nearby restaurants and possible activities.
Thank you for the great time - Christoph

Thank you Coleen & Cecil for 2 great nights at your establishment. We were booked for 1 night but ended up back for a second night (what happened in Knysna stays in Knysna - lol). We were greeted by Coleen with wine, tea or coffee upon our arrival.
Our rooms were very spacious, clean, tidy and more than expected. Breakfast was a variety and treat prepared by Cecil and served by Coleen. The view from the balcony was beautiful.
There were some beautiful one of a kind furniture pieces in the home.
Coleen was a wealth of knowledge and very helpful assisting with our plans.
We would definitely visit again and also recommend this location.
Thanks Coleen, Cecil and staff.

We had a very friendly welcome at this lovely guest house which has fantastic views across the Knysna lagoon.
Colleen gave us excellent advice on where to eat and things to do around Knysna and the breakfasts were just the ticket!

A lovely stay in a comfortable, quiet guesthouse owned and run by a wonderfully hospitable couple, Cecil and Colleen. Thank you, I felt as if I was staying with family. A few minutes walk away from the centre of Knysna, the Hide Away Guest House sits in beautifully tended gardens far enough from the road with good views of the lagoon. My room was comfortable, spacious and perfect for my stopover

Having stayed in six other 4 star guest houses on the same trip, the Hide Away fell far short of the standard of the other places. We rated the other guest houses deservedly highly. We would definitely return to those but not the Hide Away.

Hotel is in a great location, just on the edge of town. It has a nice pool, secure parking, lovely breakfast, large rooms, a strong flow in the shower, and -- most importantly -- Colleen is a font of information. Unfortunately, our rooms smelled a bit mildewy. I'm not a fussy person but it bothered my eyes. My kids, in the next room, did not complain. Also bed was too firm for my tastes, but that is better than too soft in my opinion.

Our stay was a highlight of our trip along the Garden Route from Port Elizabeth to Capetown. We would certainly stay there again on future trips. Our highest recommendation for a first class B & B stay.

Excellent B&B with very friendly and helpful hosts. Large room. Great facilities.

Characterised by touches you'd normally only expect to find at a top class hotel - cool face towels and tea/coffee on arrival, bathrobes and slippers, and quality toiletries. Hostess was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Although located close to a very busy main road, noise intrusion was minimal.

We were met at the door by the owner offered a drink, tea or coffee, informed of the the local resturants and recommendations, places to visit and they even phoned to get us a booking with the Elephant park, wineries to visit for lunch were also recommended, in fact they couldn't have been nicer, we were made to feel relaxed and at home, we took up some of the advice and found it to be fantastic, Bamons Winery for lunch and for dinner we visited the Anchorage in the small town, both were extremely good, in fact the Anchorage was fantastic we visited twice, Thank you we will be visiting again when we return

We received the best reception during our SA holiday at the Hide Away Guesthouse. Colleen and Cecil were great, before we arrived I emailed about what sailing company would they recommend and got an immediate response. When we arrived Colleen took us through the area and the all important restaurants that they recommended. Cecil and Colleen obviously love having people around and by the end of the 4 nights it felt like home away from home. We were a little slow about staying in a guest house as you feel too near the owners but this is a big place and when bump into them as we were about it was easy company. Definitely recommend!
In general Knynsa is a great spot to base yourself at. We went on a yacht trip out to the Knynsa Heads which was lovely. You have to go to Il de Pain on Thesans Island (great food and busy!). We watched the Ireland v England 6 nations with some locals and had a great night in one of the local bars. We walked from Brenton on Sea to Buffalo Bay.

Excellent hotel with every attention paid to detail. We received splendid hospitality and assistance with making bookings for local attractions. Room was everything we expected and we could not fault the accommodation or service in any way.

Very nice and helpful owners. They took time to drink a coffee with us when we arrived and talk with us every morning but not too much. We felt more than welcome. The place is nice and clean too, and the price was fair. They know very well the area too so they could give us good advices and even provided a map.

Excellant guest house/hotel - we had a brilliant view of the lagoon.... and having breakfast served to us on our balcony was extra special. The owners were very pleasant - and we really appreciated the tip of stopping in Bramon winery which was amazing. Would recommend nearby restaurant 'Firefly' if you choose to stay here.
