Stayed many times before. Great position

This is the 2nd time we’ve chosen to stay in this hotel, this time our bedroom and the bathroom were much bigger and very comfortable. Overlooking the inner courtyard meant it was very quiet.
The location couldn’t be better, a minute walk from the sea wall and beach in one direction and shops, restaurants etc in the other.
Staff were friendly and very helpful. We had our dog
with us and she was made just as welcome. We’ll certainly stay there again but avoid August as, with the French on holiday, St Malo was extremely busy, we’d prefer a quieter time!

Room 107 spacious for a family of 4. Clean room and bathroom. 2 of the 3 beds were comfortable with mattress toppers but the main bed didn’t have mattress toppers like the other ones had, so was not comfortable. Too many smokers right outside hotel at their restaurant, and smoke went right into the lobby as the doors opened. I could smell smoke in the lobby, hallway, and stairs. You had to walk through the smoke in front of the front door to enter into the front door. Not healthy for air quality given the tobacco use out front. No mini fridge to keep leftover perishable food (or baby food if needed), no electric kettle, and no coffee maker in rooms which is pretty standard now. No water purification refilling station in lobby to cut down plastic water bottles for the environment. I think the hotel could improve by making 4 changes if they wished to improve it for customers. 1. Make a big non-smoking area in the front of the hotel restaurant, and put a limited smoking section far off to the side (nowhere close to where guests have to walk by to get into the hotel). Or better, would be to not allow any smoking at the restaurant outside. 2. add mini fridges, electric kettles, and coffee makers to the rooms. 3. Add water purification bottle refilling station downstairs in lobby. 4. Add free coffee and tea in lobby.

Nice place inside the walls.

A beautiful hotel in a perfect location to explore the walled city.

Room was fine, breakfast was expensive, staff forced me to pay for another room (because we had 4 guests total) despite the fact I reserved the 4 bed room online. The floors and walls are paper thin, so I learned the entire life story of the people staying above us.
We asked the front desk for some tissues, because there weren’t any in the room. The lady told us that since they were only a 3 star hotel, they didn’t have any. I was unaware that tissues are only available in 4 star hotels
Also parking is a nightmare, the front door was broken so I had to enter and leave the hotel through the bar (with stairs) with my son’s stroller.
Everything else was amazing.

There was nothing we didn't like about the hotel or it's facilities

Belle prestation
4.2
Positives - central location, friendly check-in service.
Negatives - we had issue with neighbors smoking the whole night which with a draft coming through our door, filled our room with smoke smell. Keeping our window open the whole night did not really help. So overall we had quite a bad nights sleep which impacts the whole experience. Reception was quick to try help but the smell was still there unfortunately. Bathroom also smelled a bit (drain smell) so we kept the door closed. Basic and small room with no amenities like kettle, coffee or fridge. But otherwise it was ok, relatively modern and very central location (no parking though)

poor breakfast arrangements

This is the perfect spot to stay in Saint Malo. Just inside the walls and very close to parking (no stairs for suitcases). It is also right next to access to the ramparts. Lost of delicious food options near by including the restaurant at the hotel, which is lively and filled with customers. The rooms are a nice size and very clean. Honestly, I was worried with the rating but the hotel is much better than the overall rating suggests. Also, it is not loud at night. At least our room was not.

Strong smell of smoke in corridors. Could do with usb plugs. Could make better use of its history and position with better decor. Very convenient for exploring St Malo

Overnight stay as part of road trip, will stay again.

All good and have stayed there many times. The upgrade if rooms and lift etc a great improvement.
Would like better view if possible

We loved this hotel. It is in an excellent location, the staff are very friendly and efficient and the rooms, although a little on the small side, more then adequate and very clean. Bathroom was very spacious. Would definitely recommend a stay here!
4.2
Room amazingly small for 136 Euros
Single person stay always penalized
Bathroom bigger than main room and only a shower and toilet
However late booking in centre of St Malo in August- same around the world!

The bar was fantastic and staff and location great!
4.2
Great position in the walled town. Charming reception staff. Dire bar staff. Tiniest lift in the world. Inadequate towels. Comfortable compact room.
4.2
Very good stay and a terrific location. Has elevator, albeit a very small one. Staff was great and English-speaking. Only negative was a mixed blessing--the great location puts it near many noisy bars with outdoor seating that leads to noise until 1 a.m.
4.2
Best thing is the walled city it is in. By the entrance farthest from ferry dock. Dont go in first entrance. Look for hotel de ville. This may be the cleanest and safest old city ive visited. And ive seen most. Plus it has a beach. Train station was a ten minute wal away. Some said the restaurant noise was bad. Not so bad. This square was popular though. Lots of atms, waffle, crepe, sweets stands close by. I left an hour late because i was unaware of endland france time change. They didnt question it. Room had new shower. Safe was small. Some cigarette smoke. Probably from room across hall.

Super location, friendly stuff, nice and clean rooms with comfortable beds, Certainly I'd recommend it
4.2
Nice enough room, but lots of noise from bar below until 1am then another 30 mins of moving tables after. And this was a quiet Monday night!
Staff nice and friendly.
4.2
Hotel is within the walled city - sever parking restrictions are in play - if you ride a motorcycle you have to park it overnight outside the walls. None of this is evident while booking - google maps show many parking places opposite hotel this is no longer true. The rooms are as in the photo. Mine was chocolate brown and red, with dark wood furniture. Its all a bit dated and needs a refresh, it is however clean. WiFi is a bit on & off. No air con in my room. As you look at the hotel in the photo the total left side is under reconstruction so dont expect to get a lay in, work starts early.

Very cozy, good breakfast, very good location in the centre

Lovely location, simple but clean and pleasant room.
4.2
It was set in a nice area but parking was a nightmare.
4.2
Everything about the room, bathroom, etc was nice, but the attached restaurant left it’s door to the lobby open all night and Ron’s of cigarette smoke floated up into the rest of the hotel. It smelled terrible all night long!
4.2
Good hotel with best bar in old city quiet in jan but fun
4.2
Fabulous location, absolutely perfect to explore the old walled city of St Malo before catching boat to Portsmouth. Basic room was a good size, nice big comfortable bed and good size bathroom although a bit dated. Staff were very pleasant and welcoming. There was an extra charge (not mentioned on Hotels.com) though for our dog of 10€ a night with a 150€ damage deposit for him which they said would not be taken, but of course it was..! We didn’t receive it back until some 2 weeks later - bit cheeky given we were only in the room under 24hrs! Hotel and location was great though and we would book again but this time know the extra costs in advance.

Fantastic hotel. Excellent location. Staff are lovely. Has an unusual bar and the staff literally run to get the orders to the clients.
