We stayed here at the end of our Japan trip. The service was incredible, everyone was hopping up to help whenever we needed. Huang at the bell service specifically was very helpful to us. She helped us from start to finish. Food is expensive and there really isn’t another breakfast or dinner option around as most restaurants nearby close at 3-4pm. The food was good but not sure about value there. The room was spacious and there was a king bed which is hard to come by in Japan so we enjoyed that. The decor is definitely dated but from what we saw, majority of the clientele are older folks so they probably enjoy it. Atmosphere was very relaxing and we saw Mount Fuji everyday of our trip from the lawn of the hotel. There’s a free shuttle from Okawara Station, just be sure to book in advance on their website and there’s also a free shuttle to and from the town area of Hakone each day which was fabulous. Overall a nice stay.

Great hotel, nice and beautiful location, friendly and helpful staff. The amenities are a little outdated, but feels very authentic and everything works well.

Hotel was comfortable and staff provided excellent service. Location next to Lake provided great views of Mt Fuji. Best service was the shuttle service hotel provided from train station and into the town of Motohakone.

Excellent service

Restaurants needs improvement and the rooms are super old.

Really loved our stay here, property had a lot to offer. It was a bit quiet and just off the season start but we really enjoyed the walk around the lake, the transportation to town, hot springs, proximity to the cable car, great staff, nice view from room. All around great stay!

The hotel staff was excellent; so nice and accommodating. The property and the rooms are outdated and probably needs a modern makeover. The room had a very old smell to it.
5.0
Beautiful hotel with great view of the Lake Ashi.
The staff who greeted us and took us to our room was very nice and helpful. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a lake view and it was gorgeous even with the fog.
Restaurants had delicious food. The Lakeside grill had lots of options.
The bus service to Motohakune was so convenient.
Overall an excellent stay.

Beautiful hotel! Excellent staff! Great view of lake. Shuttle bus to train station.
5.0
Beautiful location right on the Lake, very close to main attractions like the ropeway up to Owakudani crater, Lake Ashi cruise and the Heiwa shrine.
5.0
Beautiful property! Lovely people. Amazing views right near the bus stop with a few shops for convenience
2.5
Gorgeous and spacious room. Very inviting onsen area, even in the pouring rain. Nice touch that outfits are provided to walk to the onsen, and it was a long distance from my room. Expensive but delicious meal at the French restaurant. Breakfast was plentiful but they need more than one coffee machine; there was always a line of people waiting. The hotel has beautiful grounds and landscaping, with great views of the lake, which I saw only through windows, sadly, as it never stopped raining during my whole visit. :-(

Amazing place, stayed two nights with a lake view. Highly recommend for a peaceful stay in Hakone. Car is necessary to get around, to and from the hotel and all the sites.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! The staff are so friendly and accommodating! It is a little out of the way but the hotel provides a free shuttle to and from the train station and a free hourly shuttle to the nearby town which is absolutely fabulous. The grounds are just beautiful and the view from the room is honestly better than any other vantage point we could find. Thank you so so much!

beware if you dont have your own car.
The place is isolated and the public transportation is not frequent. This leaves you trapped in the evenings because the busses stop around 5 and there are no restraunts nearby. They provide some expensive meals there if you book in advance.
The room had a great view, but the room was more of a 2 star quality.
There is no air-conditioning and there are mosquitoes. suffer in heat or in bites.
it does have a view of mount Fuji. Did not get to try the onsen.
2 stars because hotel did not meet expectations for the price

Such a beautiful and peaceful place to unwind.
The views are amazing, calming and the cherry trees in bloom were the cherry on top of the cake. Walks by the lake with views of Mount Fuji were so peaceful
The rooms are comfortable, the bedding of good quality and the toilets are so good.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurants served nice good at all three venues. The onsen is the best feature. Beautifully done in a peaceful and mindful setting with a cherry tree that I would look at for hours. Amazing stay and I would definitely stay there again

This property is beautiful and peaceful. It was a nice stop for us between Kyoto and Tokyo. The hotel is situated on lake Ashi. The staff are exceptional.

View is stunning.

Delicious French and Japonese cuisine, view on Mont Fuji, access to onsen, hotel quiet and relaxing, multiple activities right beside the hotel.

A very nice resort. However, our stay was based on it's great location near a ropeway that allowed us to enjoy gorgeous views of Mt Fuji on a perfectly clear morning. We appreciated the front desk staff member who filled out all the necessary paperwork to get out luggage shipped to our Kyoto hotel. Since we arrived late, we decided on room service which provided a broad menu of what we discovered was quite delicious food. The next morning, the breakfast buffet had delicious selections.

Great view to the lake. No dining availability except the hotel restaurants

The hotel is very remote from the city. There is a free hotel shuttle to the next small town which you could get some snacks. The hotel is beautiful and quiet and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Historical hotel with Frank Lloyd Wright/ space ship architectural reminders. If you get lake view room & weather cooperates, gorgeous view of Mt Fuji. Food quality in both French & Japanese restaurants high but also prices! Rooms were very spacious but also dated & high. Onsen bldg was newer, outdoor rotenburo was a delight. We had a rental car but limited shuttles available. If looking for a relaxing, retro stay I would recommend but not for budget hearted.

Very helpful staff, they welcomed us and provided maps for the surrounding area as well as different activities to do with times included. The hotel was very spacious and included a Onsen which I regret not trying out, although I was told it was very relaxing and a great experience. The view outside my room overlooked the lake giving us a great view. There is also a couple restaurants in the hotel I had a course meal that was very delicious and the staff in the restaurant was very accommodating and helpful. Would stay here again if I come back to Hakone

Nice view, nice room and nice onsen. All in all a good hotel.
5.0
Well maintained hotel. Fantastic lake view.
2.5
The hotel is well located for lake views, view of Mt Fuji and access to Hakone Round Course. They provide great facilities and services with complimentary buses to/from Odawara Station and Mota Harkone and excellent hot springs facilities.
Access to shopping and alternate eating opportunities is a little restricted.
2.5
Amazing staying in this hotel. The hotel is huge. The room was very clean and spacious and the whole hotel team are very nice. The onsen is really good, clean and has nice views! Hoje to come again to this amazing hotel!
3.0
A quiet hotel in a quiet neighbourhood, meaning you are all by yourself at night or you would have to drive through a narrow and dark road to the other end of the lake for food and convenience store. The good side is you maybe able to see Mt Fuji from some of the hotel rooms or by the lake.

Beautiful location and ideal for getting away from the hustle and bustle of a busy 3 day stay at Tokyo

Absolutely amazing 1st class property.
From the moment you arrive the staff is welcoming and attentive. The entire facility is super clean and beautiful. The view of Mt Fuji is awe inspiring across the lake. It exceeded all my expectations and I will remember this stay forever.
3.0
I love the greenery around the hotel and its location next to the lake but the outdoor onsen is quite a distance from the rooms and having to walk there in the cold turned me off. Upon checking out I was annoyed that I had to pay a compulsory bath charge of 150 yen which I think is ridiculous considering that it costs more than 40000 yen to stay one night there.
I was also annoyed by the hotel’s lack of response to my request to book the shuttle service from the train station when I messaged them before arrival. Had to telephone them from the train station.
4.0
The rooms were spacious and the views from the hotel were very nice.

Friendly staff. Resort style away from the main towns. Quiet and nice lakeside view.
