Nice night in Cheltenham
3.0 / 10.0
We paid nearly £300 for the one night stay including breakfast. The hotel is in a good location easy access to the centre and parking was handy although spaces were very tight.
Staff were friendly and efficient.
We found the hotel to be very tired, carpets thin and worn, paint work tired and shabby. The wallpaper behind the bed had something splattered on it. The bathroom was tired and not overly clean.
The bedroom fixtures out of date. The bed should have been a queen size however this was not the case. My husband and myself both caught our shins on the bed frame which was wooden and sticking out as the mattress did not fill the frame.
The bed wasn’t very comfortable and the pillows mediocre, we had one decent pillow and one cheap flat one.
The vent had lots of dust and the lighting panel was temperamental very annoying!
Hallways and walls again tired and worn out.
The best part of the stay was the breakfast!
I didn’t complain due to it being my husband’s 40th birthday celebration weekend.
Would have been better staying at a travel lodge!

2 night stay bed & breakfast. Room was spacious but a little dated. Breakfast was good. Great location as quiet but could do with a bit of TLC. Staff were friendly.

Staff were very good, polite, friendly and helpful, able to change a bedroom at short notice to help my mother with better accessibility

Good location, nice room and friendly staff.

Lovely hotel in Cheltenham with great access to shops, restaurants and bars. Good options for parking in the hotel with some on street options as well. Smaller boutique hotel with a lovely feel. Great restaurant and breakfast options. I will certainly be staying again.

Lovely accommodation, friendly helpful staff, excellent breakfast

The property itself is characterful and nicely presented however we had real issues with the air con in the club deluxe room and had to have a room downgrade in the middle of the night.

Over priced , not goood value for money at all. Lighting in bedrooms very poor . Needs good basic maintenance to be carried out . Living on reputation. I've been to much better B n B's than this hotel .

Stayed in a good value “cosy” room which was perfectly comfortable for on person. Decent sized bed. Only criticism is that there was no grab rail in the over-the-bath shower.

The fire alarm went on three times during the night. It was awful experience.
11pm, 1am and 5:30 am.
On top of that no one apologized or compensated us.

Very unique bedroom, however lighting very dim my husband had difficulty to see to shave! No easy accessible plug for charging mobiles and heated brush!
Food in restaurant both for dinner and breakfast excellant as were staff! Hotel easily walkable to everywhere

Bedroom was tiny (3rd floor) and lift was not working. Bed was uncomfortable too. Have stayed in other Malmaisons in the past and they were much much better.

Disappointed, luxury room but not clean, curtains didnt fit the windows , no TV remote, room 219, elevator broken, shame, was really looking forward to this stay. When i told the staff there were other guest complaining.

Too many ups and downs to get to room
2.0 / 10.0
Absolutely horrific stay . The room was very tired and had multiple things wrong with it. There was a wedding on so the noise was horrific. The terraced area outside was dirty and gross. The whole hotel looks like it could do with an upgrade. Not worth the money paid. Night manager was not helpful and was smerking at me when we complained about the noise level. There didn't seem to be adequate staff for drinks and service was slow .

Nice building. Now looking very shabby inside but reflected in the price.

A well maintained hotel in a good location except that the lift wasn’t working which was inconvenient.
The room was rather smaller than we would have expected.
They don’t offer marmalade at breakfast - bizarre!
The basin taps were strange and didn’t work well. We had to get someone to fix one of the taps as it wouldn’t turn off.

Hotel is really friendly and a great location. Overall definitely a great stay.
Only a couple of minor bits. The bed wasn’t made properly so the sheet wasn’t all the way to the top. We therefore had to remake it!
Also, the grout/shower seals need a good clean and just looked a bit aged

Spacious and airy rooms and communal areas. Great location quiet but very close to the centre. We had the privilege of being served by Greg who is an absolute delight. There should be more Gregs in the world. Thank you for making our stay special

My main gripe with Malmaison is that I’ve stayed at many of the Malmaison hotels all over the UK many times and nobody has ever once said “nice to see you again” - they seem to have no CRM whatsoever, which is annoying. However they are reliably clean and comfortable. Breakfast is pretty standard good quality but no good for healthy vegan food. Cofffee is awful and I was charged £5 for a coffee from a machine. Overall I do really like Malmaison - just a few little tweaks would make them so much better.

Great staff but you need more, forever waiting at the bar. Wasn't impressed with the sandwich left inside foil in the very hot fridge which had obviously been there a while as it was black.

Lovely room - large, comfortable and well maintained. The only issue was the lights - we couldn't work out which switches worked which lights - they were really confusing. Didn't spoil our stay, just frustrating. There was no information about the hotel facilities - no brochures seems standard now but also no information page on the TV and no-one mentioned whether there was a gym etc. Breakfast was nice. Very well positioned for the town.

I had a really great stay, the room was spacious, the facilities great, lovely outdoor spaces to sit and relax and really good service.

Shower small and leaked couldn’t turn air con off and lighting system too fussy to work out . Room not worth that amount

Really stylish hotel with very helpful staff. Good location. Short walk to a lovely local park, bars and restaurants and the town centre. Lovely comfy bed and all necessary facilities in the room.

Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, and gorgeous architecture (the conservatory and lounge is a must-see haven. The room on the other hand, leaves something to be desired considering its status as a four-star accommodation. The air conditioner makes a terrible noise when running, the switch to one of the bedside lamps is broken, the sink is tiny in a huge bathroom with zero counter space, and soundproofing is next to non-existent (the neighbouring guest's cellphone vibration/alarm can be heard going off at 5am). Parking lot is easily filled, you may have to find street parking further away (make sure to offload your luggage first before doing so). Overall still a very pleasant stay, but it's the missing little details that made the four-star rating a bit lackluster

Room large and well appointed, including a fridge. Comfortable King-size bed. Bathroom was a little small but clean We were staying for two nights and opted for drink vouchers in lieu of having room serviced. Didn't try the restaurant because we dined at a friends' place one night and our daughter had recommended some of the nearby restaurants which were very good. The staff at reception were very friendly, helpful and courteous.
