A view of some bins, breakfast was awful room was ok needs repair not a £300 room I would probably only pay half that if I was to stay again

Stayed for a one night trip, expecting a luxury experience from a well known hotel chain, but was left very disappointed by the lack pf personality and charm as advertised, the cold service and tired hotel. The hotel room was small, with no amenities to speak of (not even a box of tissues!), despite stating that the room would be occupied by 2 persons, there was only one towel and bottle of water, the 'welcome' at the reception desk at both check in and check out was very cold, with no personality or even asking if we had a good stay! The sewage smell coming from the bathroom sink as well as hot water from the cold tap left us feeling very disappointed. Would have expected much better, from a hotel claiming to be 'exuding charm'.

Expensive hotel, nice decor and good location but room cold and heating/air conditioning not working, shower temperature limited so not really hot enough, no normal coffee (only decaffeinated), only one set of towels for two of us…
4.5
Nice room, a little worn but Hotel du Vin has always been a bit shabby chic. Lovely amenities in the bathroom, nice coffee and tea tray. The shower had virtually no water coming out of the shower head so had to take a “splash bath”-I guess because it was a top floor room

Unfriendly staff espcially the bar lady on Friday evening who closed the bar at 1045 as we arrived. So hot we couldn't sleep. It really put me off a brand that i loved

This was our second visit having had a brilliant stay previously. Rooms and bedding are extremely clean and comfortable. Food is excellent. Location is perfect for Winchester. The only really downside is the noise. The hotel is in a busy main road and previously we had a room at the back but this time we were in the road. We asked to move as it was noisy and they kindly moved is to a side room but it was still noisy and as well as the road, music from the restaurant below was playing until after 10pm and before 7am. We would stay again but would definitely request a quiet room in advance.

Staff was extremely helpful, great location. Nice garden. Had to move rooms because AC didn’t work. Historic building has limitations, such as a very squeaky floor and no lift.

We had a truly fabulous two-night stay at the Hotel du Vin. Excellent and friendly staff provided wonderful service. On our first night we opted for the tasting menu, which was first class. That evening we were served by Hannah and the hotel’s sommelier, Evangelos, both of whom deserve a particular mention as they made the evening very special. I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel and would definitely be willing to stay there again in the future.
4.5
Great staff and a really nice hotel. But...they have no or little aircon so summer days mean that the rooms are too hot and uncomfortable. A big shame as it ticks all the other boxes.

amazing accommodating, helpful and thoughtful staff from reception through to the gardener, and the lady who serviced our room

Having paid £300 for one night I was not expecting the property to be as run down as it was. Check-in was delayed by 2 hours, the shower was so weak I couldnt wash the shampoo out of my hair or the soap off my body, there was a bartender (tall, waistcoat, beard) who was extremely rude even though we had been waiting 2 hours for our room!!! The bed had two big dips in each side. All in all an extremely poor overall experience. Save your money and stay at the travelodge!

I did not get my receipt for my stay. They charged my card and did not email me an invoice or give me a paper copy.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Bed was very comfortable and the bar had a good value happy hour. We would stay again.

My room was unbelievably hot, i didn't sleep due to being so uncomfortable. Main light didn't work and there were hairs on the bathroom sink. Such a shame as good location to Winchester high street and a lovely courtyard out the back.

great location and amazing staff at the hotel restaurant

it is a nice place to stay

Had just one night’s stay at this hotel and wished we’d organised to stay a little longer. Very well situated for the high street and cathedral. Food was amazing- we had breakfast included and opted to have dinner there too. Ate dinner outside as it was such a lovely evening. Could not fault.

Amaizing overnight stay. Excellent breakfast

Nice room with great service. Lovely bar with a barman who was very polite, knowledgeable and made great cocktails. Great location for exploring the town.

Fantastic stay would recommend highly

The service was a little slow but there was a wedding party in the building which would explain why. The staff were exceptionally friendly and warm , the hotel a real gem and the suite absolutely beautiful

Lovely place to stay

All staff were friendly and helpful, but I was disappointed in my room which was cramped
4.5
Nice hotel but has a very cold clinical feel. Also had an ant infestation especially in the bar area.
Not as great as I had hoped

V comfortable well appointed room. Nice staff.

Nice old building, private parking, city centre location. Great service, lovely room, delicious drinks and dinner

A lovely hotel with a great Bistro. Food in the evening was superb and the breakfast was good too. Nice spot from which to explore Winchester.

Beautiful stay and parking was so easy! We had a great time. The receptionist was so lovely and could have chatted for longer as very easy to talk to :).

We enjoyed the location of the hotel, being an easy walk to the High Street and various places of interest. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice of items. Lovely comfortable room. Staff friendly and helpful. We would stay again.

Fantastic character building
4.5
Good place to stay within close walking distance of the historic center of Winchester. Good dining available.

I enjoyed a solo overnight stay in one of the cottage rooms. I liked the decor of the room - a fun bright pink and green. The bathroom did seem rather dated now and was a little at odds with the more modern bedroom. I would stay here again - the service in the hotel was attentive without being over fussy and obviously the main hotel is very charming.
4.5
Disappointing in January to have to request air conditioning because of a hot room and not being able to open the windows.
Also the dreaded low water pressure in the shower and a non-functioning car park barrier.
4.5
Comfortable spacious room, friendly helpful staff, excellent breakfast. The hotel is just off the main shopping street so very well placed. There is not a lift and the car park has steps to and from so would not be ideal for someone who cannot manage steps and stairs.
4.5
It really is lovely. Room was huge and warmly decorated. Good selection of ‘in room’ amenities such as coffee machine, chocolates, good quality shampoo/conditioner. Room service is of really good quality and the breakfast is really nice too

Really lovely stay. Arrived Sunday at 1.15 pm and not only were we given a room upgrade but we were able to check in early. Had booked the half board option in advance so had a great evening meal and very lovely breakfast for a great price. Room was great, Very comfy bed, large bathroom with a good shower, lovely L'Occitane toiletries and plenty of hot water (unlike a lot of Winchester which was having a problem with its water supply Sunday/Monday.). Staff were friendly and helpful, including sending back my phone charger that I left in the room. Thank you!

Hotel Du Vin was an excellent place to stay, well located a very short stroll to the main high street of Winchester & 10 minute walk of the train station. The room itself was immaculate with nice touches. Front desk were very welcoming & helpful.

Great short stay at Hotel du Vin Winchester. Lovely property, friendly staff. Secure and easy to use on site parking. Very convenient location, short stroll into the centre.
4.5
Gorgeous property. Nice rooms. Lovely staff. Good food. Nice bar. Highly recommend.

Pleasant hotel, breakfast and dinner very good, staff friendly, easy short walk to the centre of town and cathedral. Great option if want to stay in central Winchester however worth noting this is an old building, with no lift and some imperfections.
