If you are traveling with children, there’s a lot for them and to keep the children entertained. Otherwise, i would not recommend. Extremely limited dining options. Food not great.
Night 1 - i suffered through an 80+ degree night with no air conditioning and no one was available on the property to fix it.

Food was terrible. Sodas were watered down and flat every time. Service wasn't great. Check in and check out take SO long and that's in the little VIP room even.

We had a terrible checkout experience, I was waiting for more than 30 minutes for the clerk to finish the check in for someone else. Despite of me waiting for 30 minutes a family comes in and they get immediately attended and checked out. I was in disbelief and let them know that I had more than 30 minutes waiting for my checkout and how come they would just ignore me and attend someone who had just walked int through the door. I stayed on a StarClass Director's suite and was hoping for a fair treatments according to what I had paid. Seems that was not the case. Also despite me booking the baggage pick up at 11 am after the checkout process my bags were nowhere to be found and had to wait another 15 minutes for the staff to locate them and bring them to the lobby.

The hotel staff was very attentive and friendly. The property lacks attention and could use many repairs. The tv in the room kept going out and the lights flickered on and off. The room had a mildew smell, probably from the humidity. Overall I rate it a 5 out of 10.
3.0
The buffet food was not desirable.
4.0
Good property overall. Will visit again.

There is no personalized check in services, free upgrades, etc. for Expedia Gold members as advertised. I waited in a line for more than half hour for check in. I booked the trip 5 months in advance and paid with a higher price. My only request is with a king size bed. At the time of checkin, they said it is not available. After I complained, then a manager trying to make up and give me the room with a king size bed. So, they obviously have availability. Almost all the buildings in this resort does not have elevators. If you have a bad knee or if you plan to carry your own luggage’s, think before you book. The resort is builder on hills, so it is harder to walk. They use golf carts to transfer guest from buildings. On the check out day, I called 5 times and waited 25 minutes for the golf cart come to pickup. You have to make advance reservations for most of the restaurants except for the buffet. I think they tried to limit your bookings, so most of all are not available. Buffet has very limited food and they are not good. The resort is very far away from all the excursions meeting point. So, expect 1.5-2 hours one way transport if you want to go for excursions. The beach is dirty and I can’t even called it a beach. I would not recommend this resort at all and will not go back.

This is a great resort to stay. The restaurants on the property are great but getting a reservation can be tricky because they could be all booked up during your stay by the time you check in. There are carts that shuttle you around the property because it is very hilly. The staff is nice and the property is beautiful.

The resort looks beautiful and well-maintained. The junior suite with ocean view room was clean, spacious, and modern. Food and drink were pretty good. We weren't able to get a reservation in the Sunset Strip Steak House for the few nights we stayed, even after speaking to multiple staff, which was a big disappointment.

Smaller than the Cancun PH but a great resort nonetheless!

It’s a party atmosphere. Not quiet. Food mediocre. However, staff is great. Bartenders are fantastic. Loved the star class pool and amenities

The property was amazing the food needs major improvement.

This property was beautiful and very well maintained. Staff were very friendly and courteous. Drink service at the pool was especially nice. Only improvement would be to have food service at the pool also.

Very very average food. The restaurants were not good for dinner in my opinion. Service and staff were good. Would not stay here again.

My friends and I had a great time at Planet Hollywood-Costa Rica! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Jose’ from the Steakhouse was phenomenal, he was our waiter and was very attentive and kept the drinks coming without asking. The food on the resort isn’t the greatest but still good enough to keep you from being hungry. I see a lot of people saying the Steakhouse food was terrible but I feel like that was my favorite restaurant out of all of them. The beach near the resort wasn’t appealing. Black volcanic sand and the water looks murky. Bring bananas to the beach to feed the monkeys. They have a lot of hustlers near the beach trying to sell you things daily and that can be a bit annoying when you have to say NO ten times. We did try the massage people on the beach and it was OK, but the massage we had from the spa in PH was AMAZINGGGG! I’m sad I forgot my masseuse's name, she really deserves a good review. Princess was the one that gave us a discount for the spa, she was really nice and helpful. One thing I wasn’t pleased about was we bought a bunch of lychee fruit and left them in the refrigerator. When we came back to the room it was gone. Not sure if the cleaning person threw them away or took them. So after that we kept the sign on the door not to be cleaned. Other than that the pool was nice and they have golf carts that come every 5 min to take you around the resort. If you want to relax I recommend, if you want to turn up this isn’t the place.

I have stayed here several times before and by far this was the best one.
Staff was amazing, they acknowledged VIP status but also our special celebration and went far and beyond to make us feel appreciated. Christian and the others managers and staff in general were just amazing, we can´t thank them enough.
Room is big and comfortable, bed and pillows are great, room amenities are great.
There is so much food and they are able to accommodate food sensitivities. A la carte restaurants are really good but the main buffet is amazing as well.
There were good and entertaining night shows and pool activities through the day.
Beach is so calm and clean
Pool is really big
Gym is big with tons of machines and my husband took a private class with Jorge who was great, he loved it
Will definitely recommend upgrading to a StarClass for the private area ( pool ) and better experience overall

Great stay at Planet Hollywood this August. We had a star class directors suite which was kitted out with everything we needed. The foot was great and the staff super attentive. Our son loved kids club which was well organised and the ladies kept them well entertained, we couldn’t drag him away! Omar our agent couldn’t do enough to ensure our stay was brilliant. Great time, we would definitely recommend.

This property is super safe, very isolated in papagayo bay, quiet and lovely place.

The food was excellent. Love my room

Overall the property was very clean and the pool staff are energetic. The pool and pool bars close at 1900, beverages are blended with undesirable liquors and there is limited night life on property. As I understand this is a family property, there is a way to cater to adults and this was a missed opportunity.
I had to remind the staff at checkin I was celebrating a special day, I never received the chocolates I ordered. I had friends staying at a local hotel, I inquired if they could come over for the day, I told three separate prices on three different occasions. My friends and I needed to ride to dinner together, when I asked if there was a cost to get dressed in my suite for no more than two hours I was told $160. $160 for two hours, that’s insane.
I plan to visit Costa Rica every year but I won’t be visiting Planet Hollywood; I’m a Hilton Diamond member and to not receive the normal Diamond perks was unfortunate.

The property sits on the hillside along the water in the natural landscape of Costa Rica. The property is clean and beautiful, and makes the most of the gorgeous surroundings with multiple places to sit and take in the scenery. There are many places to eat, the food is good, and the staff are attentive and friendly. Service is not as fast as in the U.S., but I have found this to be typical so just slow down and enjoy the vibe. The spa services were outstanding. We enjoyed hours by the various pools - there were plenty of loungers and umbrellas. Booking through Expedia earned us “Star Class” which provided perks such as a personal concierge - Omar was amazing!- limited access pool, and an hour of hydrotherapy. There is nothing local to walk to so plan on taking excursions. We had an amazing time and were very pleased with our choice.

I liked the property and the entertainment. I just wish they had more options to book reservations to specialty restaurants. They were often consistently booked up.

Nice property. Loved the private Cabanas. Dining options were good, the alcoholic drinks throughout the property lacked consistency in terms of how they were mixed. If you are looking for a nice beach, this is not the property for you. The pool was a vibe and it was easy to find seating. Overall a very good stay.

I liked the personal assistant we received due to star class, Jorley. Jorley was very helpful in setting up dinner reservations, excursions, and advising of daily activities offered by the property.
I did not like the fact that selections could not be customized at Guy's Burger Joint. There were dirty seat cushions at the beach and the pool area. There was an incident that involved some of our friends where we escorted another patron out of overtime bar due to being intoxicated and invading personal space. The patron made violent threats to our group stating "I'll kill y'all." The hotel staff allowed the patron back into the bar and the patron attacked our group. Our group restrained the patron while hotel staff stood by and watched. This made our group feel very uneasy due to his violent theats for the remaining 3 nights of the trip.

We did like our room, but everything is on a hill. We had to wait for the trolley a few times. The beach was very pretty with the black sand and so many shells. Too much emphasis is put on Star Class. The people that do the activities are awesome. The foam party was the best!!

The flora of the property is absolutely amazing, everyone has a nice view. Plenty of activities to do on the resort. The downside is the difficulty in making dinner reservations, thankfully one in my traveling group opted for the "star class" and that was how we were able to confirm reservations at the restaurants through their special agent Pablo. On arrival my room was not as clean as I expected it to be, and be mindful this is a family friendly resort. I had families on both sides of me with young kids and some late nights I could still hear the kids screaming through the walls, which I was not in my suite until late pretty much every night. Overall I had an amazing time at the resort, I would just say opt for the "star class" if you plan on using the cabanas and utilizing the "sit-down" restaurants on the resort.

Agent at the travel agency messed up all the tours we booked. My son got the star status but it really did not matter much , wrong room, only one bottle of alcohol a day in the room, hard time making reservations in the super tiny restaurants, the “special “ lounge for star members was a jock, and he did not get to shelf on most of his drinks. When you addressed the issues they just looked at you like “a no clue” costumer service should improve. No good beach on site which we already knew, hotel is big and on a hill , there are golf carts to take you up and down but at night there are very slow. I will not go back

I recently stayed at PH Costa Rica and had an outstanding experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, making me feel right at home. The room was spacious, and well-appointed with all the amenities I needed nearby.
One of the highlights was the hotel’s dining options. The on-site restaurant served a variety of delicious dishes. The breakfast buffet was also impressive, offering a wide selection of hot and cold items. I took advantage of the free daily activities. The pool area was another great feature, providing a relaxing, fun environment.
The property is beautifully situated on top of a hill, offering stunning views and a peaceful ambiance. One unique feature is the network of trolleys that transport guests to various service areas around the property, adding both convenience and charm to the stay.
The spa was truly exceptional. The staff are highly trained and experienced, ensuring a top-tier experience. I particularly enjoyed the Hollywood spa experience, which was both luxurious and rejuvenating.
Cons: The Italian restaurant could benefit from a menu update, as the food was neither fresh nor particularly delicious. The chairs and umbrellas by the pool also need some attention, as they appeared run-down and dirty. While the cabanas are a nice treat, they could use a thorough power wash to address the moldy floors.
I would still recommend this hotel for a high quality experie

Very nice staff. Henry, our butler was amazing being a star class member. The wait staff at Tex mex amazing

If you are used to Mexico all inclusive you will just be really disappointed in this place. It is not well run, and they are ready to argue with you on just about anything. The staff will talk down to you. Don’t book tours with nexus, use the company that’s on the beach waiting for tourists. Nexus will say anything to sell you a tour.
The main thing about this place is it’s not nice enough to be 2.5 hours away from every tour offered. I ignored all the reviews saying don’t do all inclusive in Costa Rica. One of the things that attracted me to this place was how close it was to the airport but I spend more time traveling for one excursion than I did at really any of their onsite activities. Get an airbnb in tamarindo or closer inland.
The food service is really bad also. 24 hour room service that takes about 2 hours to be delivered even if you schedule it for a certain time. The service at all of the restaurants is so slow.
Everything they offer sounds great but it’s all on their terms. Their customer service is very poor.
I gave it a three for the views and the drinks are strong and really good. The bartenders rock!!

Nice property with great food and entertainment
Not close to town

Very luxurious stay. Excellent food services.

So over all resort was okay, drinks were very inconsistent depending on the bartender. Food was average, italian place was horrible. Hours of food being available was not good need more late night options. Need to take a golf cart around property due to lay out. Excursion drive times were underestimated.
