This was by far the most enjoyable hotel I have ever stayed at in a foreign country. The service was top-notch and the hotel was very clean. The room was superb and very spacious and don’t let me even start talking about the incredible view.

The room service food was disgusting and they wanted to charge me another 35.000 pesos just to bring it to my room, the half board dinner they served was nasty too,no effort in making the food taste with quality, and so basic, i had diarrhea and got a little sick from the dinner food they served.the tv in my room didn't even have a remote wich is just crazy to me, im so glad i brought my fire stick from the states to i can utilize the tv,one more thing, its 2024 why are they giving me a pair of keys for my room instead of a card room key, please eventually upgrade that.its a hassle to carry that large key when i leave the hotel

This property was well kept and clean. They did their best to facilitate us as Spanish isn’t our first language. The day staff is very friendly and also helped us in booking the excursions. The staff is kind and courteous, breakfast menu was very unique and often tasted great. Shout out to the staff. Excellent . Would definitely recommend.

My stay at La Gran Via was great. I had a nice room on the 9th floor that was very spacious. The hotel is walking distance from a 24/7 drug store and plenty of restaurants. The staff were friendly and really helpful. Please note that they will charge you for towels that are really dirty. I took a towel on a mud excursion and was charged for it - but I expected it from other reviews!

walkable to a lot of location. very safe and quite. the room was big for just a queen size bed. that I really like

The staff was very helpful considering I didn’t speak Spanish. I got great recommendations for restaurants and everyone was very nice and accommodating.

I had an awesome experience!

Everything was ok, until checkout. They tried to throw in some extra charges. Not sure if it was just me or they do that to everyone. Other than that, the location was good.

The property/ apartment was beautiful, clean with a beautiful view. The bed was very uncomfortable and uneven mattress that sunk in places which resulted in backaches and lack of sleep. The staff was semi-friendly (there were multiple staff that spoke some English and we used google translate for those with limited English) We had a rental car but used taxis to go to places where parking was limited. The hotel front desk insisted that they call their preferred persons (taxi) to transport us which we concluded that we were severely overcharged. (ex. to drive less than 2 miles, we were charged 40,000 pesos) only to pay 15,000 pesos to return from the same location. We followed the hotel's policy for room/ cleaning services which we had to go to the lobby on multiple occasions to request towels. On the day of check out, they tried to charge 20,000 pesos for a "damaged towel". It was make-up on the towel and shared that it would wash off (I am African American) and was outraged by their demand that I pay for a towel with make-up on it. We will never stay there again.

Excellent customer service

The safe in my room did not work, there was no microwave or hairdryer in room. Had to ask for a hairdryer to be brought. Staff is friendly but hotel policy charged me because there was some makeup on a towel. Water based that washes off easy. Close to most restaurants and shops. Dinner at hotel is terrible, eat out if possible. All around a good stay, just minor inconveniences. Go prepared to just sleep here and hit the town for food and entertainment.

Great place to stay

Staffs were excellent especially the pool/bar staffs, doormen and the breakfast team.
Housekeeping can do a better job cleaning the room on time and supplying face towels and disinfecting the showers/drainage to reduce the smell.
Overall the hotel is maintained well

The stuff at the Hotel la Gran Vía was very nice and attentive, great service we enjoy the pool the most and that everything was a walking distance from the hotel.

First I would say the pictures are amazing because it doesn’t look like this in person. It looks rundown and old. They didn’t want to give us extra towels to and they tried to scam us to pay extra since the towels were dirt. However nothing was on the towels. If you’re on a budget get an Airbnb before coming here. Also only one person speaks English FYI.

Very good.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel. I was pleasantly surprised by the amenities and the space in my room. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and felt well attended to by all the staff. When I come back to Colombia I will without a doubt be coming back to Hotel La Gran Via

Great location, all staff team are very friendly and helpful. Room is very spacious and pool area with the bar is wonderful. Breakfast is good.

While the staff was really nice and accommodating this hotel is very out of date and needs a complete makeover of all the rooms . The only thing that worked in my room was the tv and AC. Other than that I had no fridge , no microwave or anything else that said would come with accommodations. Also nothing is given to you at this hotel not even a bottle of water ! Nothing was provided in the room except for a bottle of champagne that we had to pay for . Although I had these issues the staff was very nice , especially the doormen and Darwin and his partner at the pool bar . This is truly a “ you get what you pay for “ kind of hotel , while it wasn’t the best I would still give it a 6/10 . While it wasn’t very accommodating, the staff was pleasant and the hotel was clean.

You get what you paid for kinda vibes. If you chose the all inclusive (how I did) you get three choices of alcoholic drinks only from 11-6pm. Mini fridge didn’t work in our room and it was not stocked like other typical all inclusive. Everyone was nice and friendly. We had to pay for early check in which was no problem but our all inclusive didn’t start until 3pm. I saw one roach in the dining room. Overall everything is walking distance.

Everything

Excellent service. The food could have been better, but that was related more to my need for soft and unfried food. I was in Cartagena for dental work. We loved the view from the pool. All of the staff were extremely nice and helpful. I look forward to returning and possibly staying in the same place, perhaps next time with a better view of the ocean, since it is everywhere.

While the staff at Hotel La Gran Via in Cartagena, Colombia, are friendly and welcoming, the overall experience falls short of expectations.
The food leaves much to be desired, often undercooked and flavourless. There are additional fees for basic amenities like water and coffee, that can quickly add up.
The rooms, while passable, show signs of wear and could use maintenance. The beds and pillows are uncomfortably hard, leaving you to feel exhausted even after 8 hours of sleep. The safe in our room did not work. The shower head did not flow properly and would flood the floor every time we would use it. Also, the power went out several times during our stay.
Additionally, the Wi-Fi is practically non-existent, making it challenging to stay connected.
The pool area is disappointingly small, limiting relaxation options. About 12 chairs for the entire hotel. Often times you are waiting for one family to leave so you can sit down comfortably.
Overall, while there are some positive aspects, the hotel's shortcomings make it a mediocre choice for accommodation.

Great experience.

The large rooms are nice. The staff here is amazing. Especially Miguel at the pool. Daniel and guys at the front door take great care of you and make you feel safe. Special thanks to Mariana, Angie and Sandra for everything you do for us!!!
The hotel is a little outdated but for the location off the beach and close to everything it’s a great deal.
We are definitely looking forward to staying here again in October.

The property is OK the pictures make it seem up to date but it’s not! The rooms are huge that’s about it. Breakfast options are terrible I’m so glad I didn’t pay for all inclusive.
