We got the suite with 2 twin bedsroom and 3 futons within a tatami room. It was a bit cramped for us but it made things very cozy. The bed was too close to the bathroom and toilet doors so some body contortions are needed. The futons were very comfy and I felt very well rested as the neighborhood is mostly for locals and it was very quiet at night being several minutes away from the main arterials. The room was perfectly cool for the hot summer days in Kyoto. We didn’t get a chance to use the kitchen, but did use the fridge with all the Family Mart and 7-11 goodies and Pocari Sweat. The closet is very small and access was a bit wonky with the slider partitions shared right next to the kitchen that made it a chore sometimes and we had to be careful to not pinch the fingers.
The laundry facility had 4 pairs of coin washer dryers which we used almost daily due to the summer sweats. Try to catch it when everyone else is still out for dinner and be sure to clean the dryer lint filter before use for a quicker dry time.
Walking the streets of Kyoto between nishiki market and back at night were super safe. Close to Shijo station about 10minute walk, great to catch for Nara and Tori gates. It was a bit of a walk to Randen station to catch the Vintage streetcar to the bamboo forest. The location is quite a long way from the busiest parts of Kyoto and Gion but felt like a good location to not be so close to the loud crowded tourist areas. Awesome little soba shop nearby.

Property was wuiet and comfortable. Staff was very polite and helpful, and regular room cleanings were appreciated. We will definitely use this property again!
4.8
Friendly staff, clean rooms and lots of restaurants and shops nearby.

Great hotel, clean and modern. Great for families with interconnecting room and plenty of space. Great location as well, 10min walk from subway and central location with plenty to do around.

Our group of six stayed in the large Pokémon room, and it was amazing! Adorable Pokémon themed decorations, wall paper, furniture, dishware, giant Snorlax - you name it. We told the staff it was our kids’ birthday, and they even had welcome balloons in the room! So thoughtful and of course the kids loved it all. As for the room itself, it was the perfect amount of space. Everyone had their own bed, and the kitchen was stocked with cups, plates, utensils, microwave, fridge, cooktop, coffee machine - everything you needed to make a simple meal or breakfast. Having a full size dining table that could comfortably seat six was also a huge benefit. Everything was very clean and in new condition; having a separate WC from the bathroom was also convenient. There is coin laundry on the ground floor. The location is in a quiet residential area, but there are lots of small shops and restaurants within a short walking distance. Subway was close by and Uber also made it easy to get around.
Everyone was very helpful and kind especially with the kids. Highly recommend for families or anyone who likes to have more space than the typical tiny hotel room.

Great hotel
Great service

The front desk staffs were not very helpful.

Love the Mimaru chain and this is another great property. Be aware that this property is in a quiet residential neighborhood. There are convenience stores nearby for your needs. There are several bus stops nearby for transportation. The property and staff are excellent.

The property is good, rooms are spacious. Situated at a good location. But property lacks basic cooking amenities for families with young kids. I booked this apart hotel to have the flexibility to cook for my little one. To my dismay they have an overly complicated or maybe faulty induction plate where only 1 plate was working. Even staff couldn't show how it works. After accepting to my fate and deciding to make do with 1 plate; to my shock they didn't have basic cooking pans in the room. When I asked for 1 at the reception, they gave me this gigantic pot and told me this is all they have. What's the point of giving a functional kitchen when you don't have basic pots and pans.
If you are looking for big size rooms, go for it. But if you plan to cook for little ones, come prepared with your own basic pot.

Lovely property, but a bit of a walk to anything of interest.

Good size room for 4 people.

We booked the Pokémon room. It was a surprise for my 3 kids and they were over the moon. They loved the bunk beds, the Pokémon decor, plushy and dishes. It was a nice reprieve from the tight hotel rooms. We stayed in most evenings because it was so comfortable. The staffs were helpful and nice. There’s a laundry facility and many convenient stores close by. The only negative points for me personally were: lack of a view (windows were frosted) and the ventilation system was poor. Overall, I would still recommend the hotel.

Our stay was ok. It was clean and quiet. We stayed in the Pokemon themed apartment. While it was cute and Snorlax was fantastic the room was pretty beat up. My USB port on the bed didn't work, plugs were missing from the walls, and a loose flashlight was ripped from the wall a few times. I was also disappointed in the TV channels as there were only 7 and Apple TV rentals were the only other option. Watching Japanese TV at night was always a fun part of my day so it was a big disappointment to be stuck with public news channels. The location is a bit inconvenient. We opted to use taxi services because the buses were always crowded. Train stations and food are a bit of a walk. There is a convenience store really close by. We rented a toaster from the lobby and it was in rough condition with a grease stained pan inside. While I don't regret staying and my kids experiencing the Pokemon room I'd probably not stay again.

Amazing little hotel. Staff was friendly and extremely helpful.
4.8
Amazing stay! The Pokemon room was incredible and the kids loved snuggling with the giant Snorlax stuffie. Thanks MIMARU!

First time in Japan with my teens and we all loved the hotel and the location. Staff are friendly and went above and beyond to solve problems.
4.8
The family room was perfect for 6 of us! We loved that it has a kitchen and two toilets :)
4.8
Staff is friendly and are able to communicate in English quite well.
4.8
The room was spacious, and the kids *loved* the decoration. Ok, let’s be honest, the grownups *loved* the Pokémon decoration, too.
4.8
Great place to stay with kids – really welcoming and helpful to kids/families, and friendly multilingual staff. There's no hotel breakfast, but our apartment-room had a kitchenette, which was great. Room was clean and spacious, and it was nice to have table/chairs and 2 bathrooms. Only complaint is that room air quality felt a bit musty/dusty and we couldn't open the windows.
4.8
Spacious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great for families.
4.8
Easy access to local activities.
4.8
This was a roomy, quiet, family friendly apartment hotel in central Kyoto close to bus lines and subways (bus stop from Kyoto station is literally a few feet away from hotel). Multilingual staff was very friendly and helpful. Washer/dryer coin operated laundry was easily accessible in lobby as well as free amenities like coffee pods, toothbrushes, Qtips, bath robes, house slippers and other necessities. We stayed 12 days and easily took day trips to Hiroshima, Nara, Osaka, and even Tokyo on the Shinkansen (Bullet train), using the JR pass. Would highly recommend this hotel apartment for families seeking comfort and convenience.

Nice big rooms !

Outstanding staff and service. Very friendly.

The location is at the center for everything...restaurants nearby and close to all site seeing spots. They sell bus passes and stations are nearby. The staff is very friendly, and helpful, especially Chris and Dina. They helped to make and reconfirm the dining reservation, and always help us to call for a taxi and direct precisely where we intended to go to our destination to the driver(s). Highly recommended.
4.8
The staff here on on another level of hospitality and friendliness, even for Japan. Chris and Wei went out of their way to make our stay special one. Location is close to Nishiki Market and transportation. We stayed in the Japanese style room, and it was so comfortable and roomy! Recommending this location to anyone visiting Kyoto, especially with kids.
4.8
Very clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff who speak English. Highly recommend. About 20 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride from Kyoto station.

I rarely leave comments but the outstanding level of customer service experienced at this hotel warrants it. *All* of the front desk and hotel staff were very friendly, helpful, and outstanding in their efforts to make our stay in Kyoto truly amazing! We appreciated all of the gestures that made us feel at home in the hotel — from the greetings and well wishes offered as we went through the lobby, to assistance with things like making restaurant reservations for dinner, ensuring that we had confirmations written in Japanese to avoid any possible confusion with our booking. So much more could be said about our positive experience but I will end by saying that our family of four enjoyed a wonderful stay and I will have no hesitation recommending the Mimaru Kyoto Nishinotoin hotel to other people searching for a wonderful home base for their Kyoto travels. Warm wishes and thanks to everyone on the team! どうもありがとうございます

we rented a japanese appartment, and were pleased with the size of the room (we were 5), comfort and cleaniness. The location was not the best for visiting some of Kyoto's attractions, but was well located for shopping and dining and with transport options
4.8
Lovely hotel, staff very helpful and welcoming. My only negative is the room was cold. The air conditioning/heater is located to the side of the room and does not seem to disperse the heat.
Only a minor issue would definitely stay again
4.8
The location of this hotel is in the heart of Kyoto City. It has quick walkable access to multiple bus and subway lines that can you take all around. There are many dining options available on the main road near the hotel and there are plenty of conbini's close by. For our room however, we had futons that were quite dirty. Some of the futon sheets had hair and yellow stains on them.

We were visiting Japan for the first time and this hotel exceeded our expectations! Staff were incredible! Helpful, kind, friendly and when we checked out on my birthday, they gave me a card and a gift! I was so touched by their thoughtful gesture. The room was spacious and comfortable and well appointed. We will certainly be back!
