This is a hidden gem 30 mi north of Beatty, NV. Paul, Jennifer, and Nigel are really friendly and treat their guests like family. They serve a fresh and healthy warm breakfast every morning and help with planning your days out with great recommendations. The property has an interesting history and you can learn about it when you’re there. They have some 20 peacocks on the property, a goat, a dog, and a cat who comes by sometimes. It was such a lovely environment. We really enjoyed our stay there and will be back! 😁

Great place to stay. Made a few friends while I was there. The staff are unforgettable and welcoming. Wish I had a reason to be in that area again. Take care!

Great hosts, yummy breakfast. We stayed in peacock room which had a Jacuzzi tub. Furnishings were quaint, bathroom had dual sinks, floor tiles needed some TLC. Kids loved the outdoor areas with all the peacocks, views were amazing

My stay at The Shady Lady was so lovely! I was only there for one night; showed up a little after four and was greeted by a flock of peacocks and a cute orange cat. I stayed in the Victorian room, and while the bed was a little noisy, it was clean and comfortable. The hosts were fabulous; I was headed to Death Valley the next day, and they were more than happy to give me some helpful pointers! Breakfast was great, and I loved getting to meet the other guests. I’ll be back!

Very cool place, loved the peacocks, breakfast was excellent, operators were super nice. The only small wrinkle was that our room, the cabin I think, didn't have a TV. Had I read the booking info more carefully I might have known that ahead of time, but it really wasn't much of a problem.

It was a little far out of town, but otherwise excellent place to stay. Very peaceful!

Smelled like urine, no TV nothing to do. 45 minutes away from nearest restaurant. Pool hasn't been cleaned in months. They keep it so dark you need a flashlight just to get to the front door to leave. . They don't keep the outside clean and it was just a bust for us. Unless your there to sleep only than go for it. We checked in and left within 4 hours. Keep my money they need it worse than me.

I liked the private cabin facing the desert and the sunrise. Very cool place to stay overnight while traveling. There are peacocks walking around and on the roofs and you can pick up plenty of peacock feathers to put in a hat. The breakfast was home cooked from scratch...very nice treat. The only thing i would recommend is that there be newer pillows...the ones on the bed have no life left in them and the mattress is older. But hey it used to be a working brothel...lol

The property is unique and peaceful. The owners are very friendly and helpful too. I enjoyed my stay and will stay again if I'm passing through the area.

This was such an interesting location, the peacocks were incredible, and the breakfast was next level! I highly recommend a visit!

I loved our stay-Nigel, Jennifer and Paul were all so kind and friendly! I really enjoyed chatting with them all. A former brothel and all the decor to match, it was a B&B experience to remember! And the peacocks & their funny loud chatter- it was fun to watch them show off their feathers & sleep on the rooftop.
The hosts were all generous with their time making us feel welcomed and at home. Not to mention that they upgraded us to the Asian room that was beautifully decorated.
It was a detour from our initial roadtrip but I’d do it all over again!

The hosts are very nice and very accommodating. We ended up in a very nice room with a small kitchen and dining table by the pool. It was comfortable and clean. They have about 50 peacocks that roam the property and occasionally express their opinion.
The listing must make clear that this place is 32 miles north of Beatty. We tried putting both the street address and the name of the BnB into GPS and nothing came up, so we drove to Beatty and called. It turns out we had gone 32 miles too far. The fact that the location, which is listed as Beatty, is not accurate is a real problem- it cost us 64 miles and an hour’s time, not to mention the gas. It should also be made clear that there is nowhere to eat near the BnB. Again, we had googled Beatty and found several restaurants but the BnB is not actually in Beatty. These are th8ngs that really boned to be corrected.

This B&B is located in a beautiful but remote area of Nevada. The owners are friendly and courteous. Other reviewers commented on the eclectic decor - we found it dusty and cluttered. We stayed in the stand alone cabin, which had not been adequately cleaned (dishes in the kitchen cabinet and the dining table were dirty and had to be cleaned before we could sit down and eat). The cold water faucet in the kitchen did not work, the hot water faucet in the bathroom did not work, and the shower faucet dripped constantly. It was adequate lodging in the middle of nowhere with a lovely view, but we're not likely to make a return visit.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this unique B and B. The owners were very friendly, especially Jennifer. They upgraded us to the cabin (and not because they were over booked). They weren't. The cabin was very nice, with a kitchenette, pantry and dining table. There was an L-shaped deck with chairs and table. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast prepared by Megan was delicious, even some scrambled eggs for our dog. Megan was friendly as well and chatted with us about the history of the place, etc. I've never been around that many peacocks and they can be loud but they're beautiful and their noise didn't bother us. Before we left I followed them around with my camera and phone, trying to get some good shots. The cabin and rooms are all uniquely decorated and I would stay here again.

The room was clean and comfortable. Would have loved the option of a king bed. The peacocks and goats were cool but loud. The staff was super nice and helpful.
The only minus was the goat and peacock poop other than that the place was a really cool place to stay.

The owners were very friendly. We sat and talked with them for almost 3 hours. The peacocks roaming the property were fun to watch and beautiful. They are noisy, but that’s to be expected. We are very pleased overall with our stay at the Shady Lady and expect to stay there again and often.

Owners and staff so helpful, hospitable and caring. Could not fault the effort they put into their hospitality. Wholesome breakfast served. We were assisted with our luggage. Thankyou Nigel, Jennifer and Meagan.

Interesting stay at this former brothel. Huge room with heart-shaped tub. Jennifer, Nigel, and Paul made us feel like family. Generous full American breakfast. Best b and b in area. And peacocks galore - 46 and counting!
6.0 / 10.0
Super nice staff -- Paul made us feel very welcomed. Acceptable breakfast (enough protein to get your day going and lovely fruit salad, but the toast was low-quality white bread), good coffee. The room surfaces were mostly quite clean, but the windows hadn't been opened or cleaned in years, evidently -- I managed to scrape them open for fresh air because the HVAC unit IS TOO DEAFENINGLY LOUD to use.
There is a LOT of deferred maintenance that the owners (not Paul, who is hired staff) need to take care of. We had stayed here 6 months earlier, and the bathroom tiles 6 months later are still loose and make noise as you walk; the entire floor needs re-doing for cleanliness and safety. The owners also should remove most of the items on tables so there's room to put guest's things. The peacock feather decor is awesome, though! Guests have to be OK with loud shrieking from the peacocks on and off day and night.

I loved that they were so friendly at check-in. Jennifer was so good with my dogs and making us feel welcome. They each got treats. That special touch goes a long way.
The accommodations were excellent. The whole place is decorated nicely. The outdoor area is very comfortable to sit and enjoy the night sky and breeze.
The breakfast was awesome! They even gave my special doggies breakfast too!
They took the time to explain the area surrounding them, a map and suggestions for getting home.
One of the big highlights was I left a sentimental piece of jewelry and they offered to ship it to me. That is very special service.

The Shady Lady is a diamond in the rough. Well worth the stay. The proprietors are friendly and nice. The location is well off the road and the slight nighttime noise from the peacocks and hens is easily ignored. Breakfast was scrumptious.

This property was extraordinary with over 40 peacocks, unique fun individually decorated rooms, awesome breakfast and a super fun top notch service staff. My only thing I would have liked better was a softer mattress. Everything else was wonderful. We loved out stay and chats with the owner and staff.

Reserved a room at SL through Expedia 3.5 weeks prior to staying. We arrive at 8 pm, where the co-owner and an employee (sitting outside in the dark) greet us.Instead of checking into the main building, they ushered us towards a back building. They told us we were upgraded for the night!
Turns out they overbooked. This "upgrade" had a shared space (TV, kitchen, and dining areas). The employee was living in this building, with his own bedroom and bathroom.Co-owner reassured that this area was safe and all the doors were locked. She told us that no one could enter this area except the employee, who we were expected to share the space with.
Our room had a mattress with a quilt and blanket (no sheets). We found makeup stains and grass clippings on the bed.For warmth, we were provided a dusty portable heater. There also was an avocado under the bed. There was no WIFI.The bathroom was across the hall from our room. You stood in 3-4 inches of water while showering because of drainage issues.Of course, the bedroom and bathroom had NO LOCKS!!!
While we were getting ready at 8am the next morning, 3 men came in through one of the doors that co-owner said was locked the night before.Confusion and terror ensued! My friend yelled for them to get out because co-owner said this was a private area.At breakfast, we were upgraded to the bigger room in the main house for our 2nd night.Although at this point, I feel it's more to reduce any negativity and less about my state of security and comfort.

We loved this very eclectic place full of interesting history! The landscape was fabulous as you are out in solitude with high desert all around! The peacocks were so fun to watch & listen! We stayed in the Shady Lady cabin which was very private & unique! If you want a plain old hotel stay this is not the place for you! Jennifer & Nigel are welcoming friendly hosts & very accommodating! Delicious breakfast & great conversations! We plan to go back✌Ann & Richard

What a pleasant surprise. This place is not your run of the mill bed and breakfast. Not gonna lie - we were a little hesitant when we first saw it from the highway BUT how wrong we were. Lovely staff and just enough quirk to make it memorable.
