What an amazing weekend at Shelter Harbor Inn. The property is so beautiful and cozy. A perfect New England Inn with the fires going inside, the smell of comfort, an amazing continental breakfast, a farm to table fantastic restaurant and staff that went above and beyond to make my staff perfect. Thank you all. I will see you soon.

My husband and I took a spur of the moment trip. The Inn is so cozy and the staff were super friendly. Paul the general manager was so accommodating . Dinner at the restaurant was exceptional.We got to know people from different parts of the country who were coming in for a wedding.I would definitely recommend this Inn and we will be back again soon.

The property itself was lovely, however, it lacked attention to detail in many aspects. This inn has so much potential if they only paid more attention to the details. It could be a wonderful "boutique" type inn. Upon entering our cottage, it smelled musty and of mildew. The AC unit did not work whatsoever despite someone coming over and trying to fix it. It never cooled and barely gave off air. Our room was for 4 people but the bedding for the sleeper sofa was not even in the bedroom! The bathroom did not have hand soap, not enough towels and the shower was moldy and dirty. The room lacked seating because if the sofa bed is open, it only left a desk chair to sit on. At breakfast, there was no trash can in sight and they should definitely consider including a few more items besides the cold mini quiches, bagels, croissants, yogurt & cereal. However, the food we had for dinner was fabulous! We had the seafood pasta and it was loaded with perfectly cooked scallops & shrimp and the burgers were great! I really hope management spends some time reading these reviews and makes some adjustments and changes.

We loved our stay at the Shelter Harbor Inn and will visit again. Our room was comfortable and spacious. The grounds are very pretty. The staff was wonderful and genuine. We ate dinner at the restaurant two nights of our 4 night stay and both meals were wonderful. There is a shuttle to one of the prettiest and quietest beaches we have ever been on and we are beach lovers. Our only suggestions for improvement would be an upgrade to the continental breakfast which was lacking and it would be lovely if they offered wine and beer for sale on the nights the restaurant is not open. Overall a wonderful stay and a good value for a September stay near the coast.

Adorable bed and breakfast, well appointed and stylish— however the musty smell of the room, no umbrella option on our huge sunny balcony, and lackluster breakfast options left a lot to be desired for the price paid. Seems they were quite short staffed.

The Staff here, especially Mark, make this place. We have stayed twice and the first room was very clean and modern and one of the least expensive. The restaurant is good and reasonably priced. We used the fire pits after dinner. The highlight is having Mark drive you to the beach and even provide chairs and a box lunch during beach season. Worth mentioning is that you cannot use the fireplace in late summer so I won’t spend the extra money again. We had some cleaning issues which were quickly addressed. We’ll be back!

The Shelter Harbor Inn is such a gem. Great location, quaint and beautifully decorated with beautiful grounds to relax and enjoy a cocktail in a rocking chair, the patio with family/ friends or even a firepit. Shuttle to local beach. Self serve farmhouse breakfast was all you need to start the day! Highly recommend and close to beautiful areas such as Narragansett.

I booked the stay through Expedia, the cite gave me 72 hours to confirm my stay. However, in less than 24 hours I was charged for the security deposit by the hotel. When I went there, I realized that the advertised room had only one king size bed, and by accommodating me, they give my kids and I an inflatable mattress on the tile floor. I left, and did not stay not even a night at the hotel. They have not given me back the security deposit.

The entire property was beautiful, gorgeous decor, very tasyefully done, everyvroom was perfect, beautiful surprises everywhere you looked Loved everything, great food, wonderful shuttle too a superb, quiet, private beach, great hospitality at a very reasonable price for this location in the summer. I would definitely comevback and recommend it to everyone.

The staff was great! The room was lovely, comfortable, and clean. The continental breakfast had more choices than we expected, everything was delicious, and Mark was very nice and helpful! The private beach was wonderful. It was beautiful, not very crowded, and had a lifeguard on duty. We will definitely stay there again!

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room smelled like mildew and there were 3 earwigs crawling on the bathroom floor. No bathroom window, but instead a plywood board nailed to the window. There was not a single hook for hanging anything in the bathroom and no counter space at all. No bags for dirty laundry, no fridge, and the bed headboard was not bolted in, and hit the wall when climbing in and hour or resting against it. One small drawer for storing clothing. Upstairs neighbors were very loud. You can hear them walking across the floor. The mildew smell lingered on my hair and clothing and although there was a dehumidifier, no air filter in the unit and poor air quality. Not a great location by the road but the access to the water was nice and the front desk staff were very sweet people.

Our room was in the barn annex, and the walls were very thin. We could hear the couple next door talking (and then snoring!). I imagine the rooms in the inn itself are nicer. Temperature control was outdated, but otherwise, the room was fine. Breakfast, on the other hand, was terrible. Awful coffee, no creamer, prepackaged junk. This was one of the draws when I made the reservation, but what a waste. Overpriced for the experience.

The Inn is generally nice, however they had cancelled our reservation before we even got there. They found a room, but not the one we reserved (not in main house), then two days into our stay there was no heat in our room and they moved us again. They have young kids running the front desk and while sweet kids they had no idea how to fix the heating problem. Then the Inn provided no credit for our poor experience. Overall, not great, we are not coming back!

This was our first time at The Shelton Harbor Inn and it didn’t disappoint. We loved the quaint atmosphere and having a glass of wine by the fireplace was so nice. Staff was extremely friendly and the food at the restaurant was amazing! We’ll definitely be back.

The Inn is charming, but we stayed in the basement of the carriage house which is dark, cold and damp. The bed was uncomfortable. We will visit again because the property's nice, the staff is friendly, and the location is good. However, we will make sure we stay in the Inn next time.

Expected more for the price of this property. The heat went out and they did not fix it until the morning. It was a cold night and the staff didn’t seem concerned that we had a terribly cold night. The breakfast was basic. Will definitely not be returning.

Didn’t like that it was extremely noisy until 3 a.m. and that in the morning no one was at the desk so that I could tell them about it. I did call when I got home, but think that they could have been more sympathetic and understanding. I do understand that they said I should have called when it was happening but I didn’t realize that they have someone on call all night as this was our first visit there and we were not in the main house. We were in the barn, which I might add is lovely, and they did say that the main house and a small house that is between the main house and the barn is much quieter. Unfortunately that was not known by us either. I really think that they could’ve at least offered us a discounted rate for a future visit. Very poor public relations.

The staff and service were lovely. And the restaurant attached to the inn is excellent. However, for the cost, the room was tiny, oddly decorated, and had a very uncomfortable bed and pillows. The TV was placed in a spot that was hard to see for one of us because of the bed posts. And the bathroom was extremely tiny, with virtually nowhere to put any toiletries. The shower stall had black tile and no lighting so it was very dark. The very thin walls of the room made it so that you heard everything going on in the other rooms. Lastly, the continental breakfast felt skimpy considering the cost per night.

The inn was excellent except for the lighting in room 1. It was so dark it was like a cave even during the day. The bedside lamps were so low they were useless for reading. No one should be put in that room until the lighting is improved.

Very pretty grounds and building. Comfortable and clean. Great location to visit East Beach and Watch Hill. Unfortunately restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays so can not rate. There was a tavern 2 min. down the road so that wasn't a big deal. The continental breakfast was nice to have to start the day. We went during perfect summer weather but I'm sure this Inn is lovely anytime of the year!
