The tree house was amazing and so beautiful! It only was a little warm during the day but at night it was amazing! Really glad that we were able to experience this. Tracy was very kind as well!!!

We absolutely LOVED this place! My kids said it’s hands down the best place we’ve ever stayed. The treehouse is magical, the beds are incredibly comfortable, the staff super friendly and helpful, the kitchen perfectly appointed. I couldn’t speak higher of this perfect spot. Even walkable to town (sidewalk the whole way) although a bit far with young kids. And the local store just around the corner had everything we needed. The trail around the property we walked multiple times and all enjoyed. Thank you for such an incredibly special stay!

The staff were super helpful, the breakfast was very tasty. Our tree house was stunning and very clean. We had an amazing time in the surrounding area and would definitely return. And the spectacular journey up to Monteverde is much more pleasant than it used to be, we have never seen so many perfect rainbows. Mother Nature has worked her magic here.

We loved our stay here. Tracy greeted us and showed us around. she was so nice and helpful. Brerakfast was lovely. We stayed in the family cabin even though there were only two of us because that was all that was available, but it worked out fine. The wind was insanely strong, which made for noisy nights in the trees, but we loved it. We loved being surrounded by the trees. We loved coffee and wine on the porch listening to all the birds and wind. We found it too far to walk to the town (mostly due to the wind) but we had a car and it was so simple to hop in and we found parking in the town easily. We really enjoyed our stay here. Highly recommend.

Lovely accomodation. Tucked away in the trees, lots of privacy. Also just 5 mins walk to a supermarket and 10 from the restaurants of St Elena. 20 mins from both Monteverde and St Elena National parks. Amazing location and great accomodation.

Tracy was very kind and hospitable. We arrived early and were able to check in early. The rooms are equipped with everything you'll need, are very clean and the property is located walking distance to the main restaurants area. The breakfast was also very delicious. Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful stay. The staff are really helpful and kind. The cabins have such a nice atmosphere and offer more privacy than a hotel room, plus you have a beautiful little forest area surrounding you. We saw some agoutis, and even a possum outside our cabin which was exciting!

Loved the tree house! Only issue, Mother Nature was not kind in that when there are high winds it gets so loud that we couldn’t sleep the one night. Otherwise, we highly recommend!

This is an amazing place and a house up in the trees. You feel completely surrounded by woods and nature. We spotted a few different birds and also a pair of beautiful toucans. Tracy was amazing and brought us breakfast up to the treehouse. It was delicious. She even took care of our Treetopia booking. Only con is this place is kind of expensive, but living in tree-house was a new experience so we went for it

Overall a very nice place tucked in the woods. The owner was very gracious and the cabin was very clean. The bed, however, was extremely hard and I had pretty bad back pain due to the bed the next morning.

A great little cabana nestled in the trees, away from the busy scene of nearby Santa Elena. Warm, and welcoming this friendly family run business feels like you are in the cloud forest. Large, expansive windows overlook the forest and winding paths, while still retaining privacy. It is located just a block away from a great sunset viewing spot, small grocery and gas station so while once you are in the cabana you feel remote, there are easy conveniences within walking distance. You can hear the main road while on the grounds, but all the different bird calls help push that into the background. It's also located within minutes to the Santa Elena downtown, as well as the reserves/parks. The family made great recommendations for things to do, especially noting things our young son would enjoy. Get the fresh fruit bowl for breakfast! We had a great time and would definitely stay here again.

You can’t beat the location of this property, and it has so much potential to be a stellar lodging experience. But the amenities were sparse at best. Maximum occupancy was listed as nine, and we only had five. But there wasn’t enough seating for us all to sit in a common area together unless we were at the dining table. The pull-out couches were uncomfortable for seating and there were no sheets for them, only blankets and pillows. The extra mattress that was tucked behind one of the couches was so uncomfortable and noisy every time the sleeper moved. And again, no sheets. The kitchen didn’t even have a cooktop. It had a coffee maker, rice cooker, microwave, and electric griddle that the plug couldn’t stay connected to. Overall, you can’t beat the views and the amazing experience of being literally in the jungle and swinging in a hammock while watching the birds and other wildlife. But the amenities of this particular cabana need a serious upgrade.

In general, Cabañas la Montaña was a great place to stay! HOWEVER….
The description on Hotels.com clearly states TWO BEDROOMS. There are definitely NOT two bedrooms!!! There is big room upstairs with 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa, and a big living /kitchen room downstairs with double and single sleeper sofas. The two areas are connected by an open stairwell, so there is zero privacy between the two areas— great if you are one big family or communal group expecting to share all aspects of living spaces. NOT so good if you are two separate families expecting a private space from the others.
The cabin itself is gorgeous with floor to ceiling windows and fabulous forest views. You’d never guess there are three other cabins nearby. The queen beds were ok comfortable, nothing special whatsoever, but certainly adequate. The sleeper sofas… not so much. I would definitely recommend that the kids in your group get these! They’re well-used but ok.
No heating or a/c and the hot water is AT BEST mildly lukewarm. We didn’t cook but the kitchen equipment looked adequate.
BREAKFAST WAS OUTSTANDING!!! Both the service and the food were the best we had over our whole vacation.
If I had been looking for a rustic but beautiful experience, I would give this place a standing ovation. I just feel that the description on the booking site wasn’t accurate where we needed it to be.

Tracy and her family are great hosts and took care of everything we needed; breakfast was great. But, I think reviews should be clear about what the cabins are, which is a small step above camping. The cabin itself is nice enough, cozy, but unfortunately it is not completely sealed and in the middle of a rainforest. There were many bugs in our room, in the bed, the bathroom and everywhere in between. There was no hot water and no ac/climate control, so it gets very stale. Overall the stay was not bad, but we were expecting accommodations closer to a hotel. The constant presence of bugs grew to be pretty disconcerting after two nights. Just want to make sure others are aware before booking

The chalet was nestled in nature with window everywhere so it felt as if we were outside! A delicious breakfast was made daily by our wonderful host and they provided great restaurant referrals for our other meals! We saw fireflies and toucans!!

clean room & bathroom, off the main road but not far from town and AMAZING breakfasts. If you stay somewhere else you are either over-paying or sacrificing your experience.

We loved our stay here, it was so hard to leave!
Beautiful hand crafted wooden cabanas, with lots of privacy, feels fully immersed in nature. Simple amenities but all clean and well working.
Perfect for if you want to feel in touch with nature.
Wonderful location, close to everything in Monteverde.
A local family built & run business. They cook you a huge breakfast every morning at the time of your choosing.
Bonus for us, the family had recently rescued a puppy from the streets, (it just wanders around the grounds) so we got to play and cuddle with it every day.
We have endless compliments for this place, would definitely recommend and go back at a heartbeat.

The cutest place in Monteverde. Close to the center of town. Tracy, was a super host, always so attentive to our needs. The surroning area of the hotel was so beautiful. The rooms so cozy. And the breakfast was plenty and deliciuos!

The owner hosts were excellent and personal; they make sure your wishes are addressed and fulfilled as much as possible, and not just at breakfast time. A customized breakfast is cooked just the way you want! The cabins are designed in such a way that you don't see your neighbors at all. You feel like you are in the middle of a forest, not within a town.
