Nice place to stay

I’m in love with this property and the staff. My husband and I both said it’s the loveliest Hotel we’ve ever been to. Every inch of the property is stunning. The owners thought of every detail, and then some. The staff were unbelievably amazing. Saying goodbye to them was hard to do. We had the most amazing meals on site by a tremendously talented chef. Look no further you want to stay at this amazing place.

Lovely property. The outside could use better signage at night.

A truly lovely place to stay. Service was impeccable and the accommodation perfect.

Service , quality of food superb. Peaceful calm location even though close to town centre and amenities.

The food was amazing and the staff were friendly and very welcoming.
The room was wonderful and we loved having the hot tub/spa. I will be back some day.

A few minor issues with the rooms at Rothay Manor. I would avoid this hotel if you have allergies as nearly every room and communal area is catered to dogs. Our first room had dog fur all over the bed and cushions. The daily cleanliness could be improved in the rooms and the communal areas. Unless you stay in the new Pavilion building, some of the other rooms are tired and dated. Staff are however very friendly and accommodating and the food is very good, but I would not class this hotel as a boutique hotel quite yet. Convenient location into town.

Very nice hotel, lovely location, nice friendly staff

This is the third time we have stayed at the Rothay Manor and we were not disappointed. The whole experience from beginning to end was delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts and the evening dining was a joy (word of caution - not really suitable for those who expect a large serving of meat and two veg followed by pud as the menu reflects the creative flair of the celebrity chef and is a whole facinating dining experience in itself). Friendly staff do their best to make the visit special. We will be back!

The staff are all very professional and courteous.
Food is of a high quality.
Wechave now stayed here several times over several years.
We will be back.

Great location, clean and comfortable rooms, nice staff, high quality breakfast.
3.0
The room didn’t correspond to the price or star rating of the hotel; nowhere to put the suitcases other than middle of the floor and impossible to open windows on the middle of a road literally only a few metres away.
This is not 4 star accommodation and certainly not worthy of (well) over £200 per night.
It’s a shame as the hotel is pretty and probably has nice rooms; ours was shamefully overpriced in terms of value for money.
The breakfast was very good and varied, but dinner was very limited in choice and the imposed service charge not appreciated.

Great culinary experience and staff was great! The location was perfect for daily hikes and visiting shops.

Beautifully restored manor house, with lovely accommodations. Lawn, patio, dining room or parlor seating for relaxing. They are still doing some landscape work, but the newly paved parking lot is convenient. Close enough to the village to walk to shops and dining. Not suitable for those with mobility impairments (although they may have some ground floor accommodations).

Amazing stay for couple looking for a romantic stay.

This hotel is within walking distance of Ambleside and also walks to the lake which is very pretty.
The room was beautifully furnished the only downside was it was located so close to the road that as soon as the traffic started at 5am I was woken up. It had a little patio but again as it was right by the road it wasnt really somewhere I would have sat out. We had the taster menu which was superb although It is very expensive, our biill for the meal, a drink before and the wine flight for 1 and a bottle of wine came to £358.00. The service was excellent and the breakfast exceptional. Do I think the cost of £570 for one night dinner bed and breakfast was worth it?, perhaps for a special occasion but I would want a different room if staying again.

Absolutely amazing hotel, very warm and friendly feel. Staff were very welcome and couldn’t possibly be anymore helpful. Room was unbelievably comfortable and well furnished.

This is by far and away one of the best hotel stays I have had.
The food was amazing and the staff could not have been more professional.
We will definitely be back!

Hotel was nice but perhaps not nice enough for the price tag. - bed linen was good quality but ripped and should have been replaced. - service was slow and often got things wrong (drinks orders) or didn’t do things you’d asked for (replace milk in room) Overall very good.

Lovely hotel which we stayed at for 1 night. Unfortunately, we were unable to eat at their restaurant as it was fully booked. Surely a hotel should be able to accommodate their guests with food.
Very limited parking available
Building work was taking place and our room overlooked this. Building work started early and no acknowledgment of this from staff.

Lovely hotel with beautiful spacious, comfy rooms and a great walk in shower too. The on site restaurant (featured in the Michelin Guide) was the incentive to visit for us and it didn’t disappoint. The evening meal was delicious. Walking distance to the Ambleside the location was perfect and having a free (although small) car park was great. I was a little concerned on arrival re the building work happening at the hotel but we didn’t experience any noise or disruption.Breakfast was leisurely, and took about an hour. This could be a pro or a con depending on what you had planned for the day!

Amazing food, room a d location. Will be back again.

Perfect location to see the Lake District. Short walk to the town of Ambleside and a short drive to both Grassmere and Windermere. Poor rating was due to being given a room with a leak, which we assured had been fixed, however this was not the case and we had water dripping from the bathroom door frame and wet patches on the ceiling. To top it off the management couldn’t really see the problem !!! At £175 a night this was not acceptable. Most of the staff were friendly and breakfast was superb and well presented. Would not recommend this hotel based on the room, because clearly they are prepared to rent them out regardless of condition and unless they fix the leaking roof this will continue.

Lovely hotel with good spacious rooms and excellent friendly staff. Excellent food but limited menu choice at dinner. N.b vat reduction not passed onto customers.

Was nice.
Hot tub is far from private and relaxing as it's right by a road

Perfect one-night stay with lovely attention to ALL details from start to finish.

Staff were very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was superb, sadly we didn’t eat at the hotel in the evening. Only negative was the layout of our room; our sofa overlooked the wardrobe and it was a little dark.

Clean, freshly decorated room. Friendly helpful staff.Well prepared food. Good location, with plenary of parking, a short distance from the town centre.

Superb accommodation but would be good if they also offered a simpler bar menu as a counter to their fine dining restaurant.

This is amazing. The place is very new, clean, peaceful. The staff are very nice and supportive. The breakfast is great. Location is in walkable distance to Ambleside, and many walking route. Easy to access by car. Lots of parking space.
