There are not enough superlatives to describe this home. The pictures are accurate, so you can see what it looks like, it's on the beach, it has a great pool. But what you can't see is Arturo, who is helpful beyond words, Martin and Benito who take care of the kayaks, paddle boards, golf carts and grounds and most especially, Mary who was our house mother. She cooked our breakfast and cleaned up after us, but most importantly, she knew us. She noticed on the first day, which child liked pancakes and which preferred rice and beans. She put my tea water on before I even got up, and once she alerted me to the fact that the baby was crying (the monitor didn't indicate that.) The house is fun, there are sometimes cows on the beach, we walked to Hemingways and to town, and to church. We drove the golf carts all over the place. We made it our home and we were sad to leave. Thanks so much.

We brought our family of 17 to celebrate my 70th birthday. Villa Potrero was perfect in every way. Arturo and the rest of the staff were so friendly and easy to work with. We brought in a chef for one night (Kattya), and had a wonderful meal. We were able to do a family picture on the grounds and beach,(Paul the photographer was great). These were all set up by Arturo. Loved running around to town on the golf carts. Recommend renting them. Our sunsets were gorgeous! Every one of our family had an amazing time and would definitely stay again - besides Paco the house dog misses us already - he likes house treats. Our stay was for two weeks and was not long enough!!!

Our stay at the villa was perfect for our family of 17 + 2 others that joined us during the day. The pool was a huge hit and having the beach right outside the gate was amazing. Because of some recent storms the ocean was a bit cloudy and maybe a bit rougher than usual but we still enjoyed jumping the waves. It was hard to take out the boards and kayaks. Arturo, Martine, and Julianna were very helpful and responded quickly to our every need. We hired Kattya as chef for 2 nights dinner and she and her staff made our celebration very special and delicious! They were very helpful in suppling an estimate for our dinner which was very helpful because they wanted to be paid in cash. The house needs to be updated a little (ex- the dishwasher does not work and needs to be replaced. We washed a lot of dishes). I would definitely stay here again and our family had a wonderful time!

We had the most wonderful family trip to Villa Potrero! From making the initial reservation to leaving the property - everything was seamless. We had a family of 14 (all age ranges) and this house worked perfectly for us. Arturo was an amazing house manager and with the help of Marteen, Benedito, Judy and Aaron, we were taken care of perfectly. This house is situated on a perfect part of the beach with the most beautiful view of the ocean from a balcony I did not want to leave. Town is a very short distance away. We rented a golf cart for the week, which was perfect. Judy kept the house spotless and made delicious breakfasts, Marteen and Benedito took care of putting out all the beach toys and chairs out every day, Aaron and his assistant prepared 3 delicious dinners for us, and Arturo handled transfers, excursions and all needs of the house. We love Villa Potrero. Full disclosure - the only thing that was a minor annoyance - a house is being built next door to the property which was a bit nosy at times but did not ruin our Pura Vida ! I highly recommend this property.

Overall a very nice place to get together and relax with our friends. The on-site staff were helpful and very friendly.
The house itself is laid out fairly well for a group of people such as ours. It could use a bit of maintenance though. Nothing major, just a lot of little things like non-functional blinds, sticking/ non-latching room and cabinet doors, etc.
Also slightly disappointing was that there were only two functional kayaks, a single and a double. There are several there in the rack but we were told that the others were all broken.
We did have a group dinner with their private Chef one night. It was a very fun night for sure but unfortunately none of the entrees were enjoyed. The chef and her staff were wonderfully nice and helpful but all of the main dishes were overcooked and mostly not eaten. The sides and desserts were magnificent though. If you decide to try this, confirm pricing beforehand. We were charged for a larger group than we had according to their pricing sheet and there was a facilities charge added on that wasn't disclosed. Not a huge additional amount of money but being that it was not upfront, one person ended up paying everything that was additional. This is meant to be constructive criticism only, we really did have a great time in Costa Rica and this house played a big part in that. Especially the outdoor areas. The pool area was a huge hit.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! My family of 8, 23 yrs to 65 years loved our time in Costa Rica! The house is beautiful and immaculate!! The location, yard and beach are breathtaking!! We all went for a daily sunset swim in the ocean! Arturo was great at helping to plan adventures and keeping the house and yard secure and beautiful!

The villa and property are beautifully maintained! The house is very comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need! Our teenage grandkids loved all the sports gear and the beach right at our fingertips! We hope to go back!!

This rental was top notch for our big group of 14 adults. Very nice, cool, & clean. Judy provided daily cleaning for the place & she was wonderful! So friendly & worked so hard! The pool was great to have since, although the property is right on the beach, most of the group would not get in the pacific ocean with the dark sand & dark water. We are all white beach, blue or emerald water, want to see what's in the water atound us kind of people. Lol.
But you can't go wrong with the property itself - you will love it!

We had the best stay ever. We hosted a very small wedding with our friends and the staff went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed. The house is in a great location with direct beach access and easy to walk to the little store and a few restaurants. The yard is spacious for families and activities and we had an iguana that would visit us daily. Arturo and the rest of the staff were very attentive to our last-minute requests. They were always there for us but not intrusive and they gave great recommendations. The chef services were delicious and they saved the leftovers for us to eat throughout the day. My husband forgot his wallet and Arturo drove it to the airport and we still had plenty of time to make our flight. He's our hero. We will definitely be back next year.

The property was wonderful. We had 4 couples staying for a 60th birthday get-together. The bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious. We spent a lot of time in the pool and went boogie boarding and kayaking. We drove the golf cart or walked to town where there is a grocery store and restaurants. Hemingways is very good! The ladies enjoyed a nice breakfast one morning at Nita's Coffee. I don't know how Arturo does it but he managed to keep all our requests and questions straight! We had the chef and mixologist come one night. It was fabulous! great fun with the mixologist!! The guys went fishing one day and they cooked the fish they caught. Judy cleaned for us whenever we needed it. Martin and Paco (the dog) were on site daily. You will love it here!

Villa Potrero was a fantastic place to stay. The house was amazing and beautiful! It has all the amenities and and was in the best location close to everything. We hosted our wedding at the house in the back yard and it was absolutely amazing. The guests loved the space and enjoyed the mixologists that Cori and Arturo provided as well as the picturesque sunset. The house was plenty big enough for our entire wedding party.

Everything about this VRBO experience was amazing. Starting with Cori, the host, who answered my many questions promptly. The location of the house is right on the beach as pictured. Every morning Martin would put the paddle boards, kayaks, and life jackets right by the gate for easy access. There were boogie boards too. Arturo arranged our excursions, transportation, gave suggestions for restaurants. The sweetest lady would come every few days to clean. We had a chef and mixologist come one night. What a treat! We used the golf cart to get to the grocery store or explore the local area. We used the other car to take a ride to Tamarindo... the town was way too commercial for us. We were so happy to be back "home!" And the howler monkeys were in the trees right by the house several times...once at 5AM but so worth getting up for! The locals were very friendly. Take a walk on the beach to get to several restaurants and coffee shops. Arturo and Martin were easy to reach if anything came up while we were there. This is the 6th year our family of 13 has stayed at a VRBO and everyone agreed Villa Potrero was the best! It definitely exemplifies the Pura Vida! Hasta la proxima!

We chose Villa Potrero to celebrate a friend’s 40th birthday and couldn’t have had a better experience. We are forever thankful for Arturo for organizing our chef experiences, transportation and excursions. Several in our group are already looking at rebooking for their next family vacation! Three generations of our family agreed that Villa Potrero was the best beach vacation we have experienced in 30 years of renting. As so many other reviewers have stated, this well designed, beautiful and spacious beachfront property stands head and shoulders above other similar rentals on its own, but when the amazing staff is added it becomes even more of a special place. Arturo, Yury and Martin were always accommodating, their "can do attitude" and smiles were genuine. They play a big part in elevating Villa Potrero from a wonderful, upscale beachfront property to an EXCEPTIONAL home away from home. Our family has been back in the States for less than a week and we have already rebooked Villa Potrero for next year. That speaks volumes!

We came to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with a party of 17…our kids and grandkids, ages ranging from 1-70 years. It was the perfect setting and arrangement for all ages. Kids and adults enjoyed the kayaks, bikes, paddle/boogy boards, which were available to us every day, as well as umbrellas and lounge chairs at the beach. We also enjoyed the pool table, foosball, and ping pong. We actually spent as much time in the pool as we did on the beach!
The staff was over the top! Arturo was always accommodating and gracious to work with. Any question we had was always answered promptly. Yury daily kept the house clean and well supplied. Martin and Benito kept the grounds clean and were a nice daily presence.
Thank you for making this an amazing memory for our family…we wouldn’t have changed anything!

This home and staff are amazing!! Before our group even arrived Arturo, the house manager, was helping me plan excursions, massages, in house chef, transportation and grocery orders. When we arrived at the house we were stunned at the amazing view of the ocean, the cleanliness of the home and the warm welcome from Arturo and Martin who keeps the property beautiful! The refrigerator was full of food that we had ordered ahead of time and the in house chef was preparing our dinner while we soaked up the sun in the pool and ocean. Yury kept the house beautiful every day with a warm smile on her face. Future trips anywhere in the world will have a hard time matching this experience! Thank you Arturo for making our 25th wedding anniversary a memory we will never forget!!

The house, pool, yard, beach and proximity to restaurants and shopping more than met our expectations. There was plenty of room for our group of 17 with ages ranging from 6 months to more than 70 years.
The on site access to a manager and the daily housekeeping absolutely exceeded expectations.
And the sunsets were magical!

This property was perfect for our group of 13. Each couple got their own room and bed. The downstairs rooms are mini suites with coffee makers and such. Martin got out the kayaks and paddle boards every morning for us to use on the beach. The pool was big enough for our group and had enough lounging around the pool for everyone at the same time, which I feel isn’t typical. There was also a Bluetooth sound system at the pool which was great! Overall, would absolutely recommend this property and host!

This home was perfect for our family. It was clean, had many toys, including kayaks, bikes, a pool table and foosball. Arturo and the rest of the staff went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed. From stocking our refrigerator to driving us all around the town and surrounding area. The beach, right outside our back yard, along with the pool provided much relief from the heat. We look forward to a return visit in the near future.

Everything about our stay was wonderful. This house is large and spacious. It's perfect for family/friend groups. You can easily and spaciously accommodate 3-4 families. The common areas provide enough space to spread out and the bed/bath setup is perfect.
The view from the balcony is amazing, we enjoyed our morning coffee while being entertained by the pelicans diving for fish. The the sunset is so picturesque, coupled with a glass of wine, it's the perfect end to a long adventurous day. The beach walking is perfect here too.
The house and grounds are superbly kept and the kitchen is well stocked. Town is a walkable distance, but we had no trouble parking when we opted to drive.
We would definitely return and stay a bit longer. No one wanted to leave.

Our friends group of 7 couples had an amazing luxury get-away at this large beach front home. The location is fantastic - we could hear and see the ocean day and night, it's literally just a few steps away. Property manager, Arturo, arranged all the activities and services for us in advance making the planning easy and the execution was perfect - no hiccups! Arturo put together a full week itinerary with the services and excursions, which he arranged at discounted rates better than we could find on the internet. We enjoyed on-site massage and spa services, private chef prepared dinners with an entertaining "mixologist" bartender, a catamaran cruise, zip-lining, volcano hike and thermal spa experience, and an ATV ride to waterfalls. No need to rent cars - we used the shuttle service offered by the property owners and rented the golf cart and Jeep (which are available at the house) to get around to other nearby beaches and local spots. The house is very large with an open floor plan and many comfortable seating areas to relax with friends, alone with a book or just to enjoy the ocean view. We loved that the living room and dining easily accommodated our entire group comfortably. Another staffer, Martine, set up the beach chairs & umbrellas, pulled out the paddle boards and kayaks to be ready for us to use every morning. "House mom" Yuriana was wonderful - she cleaned the house daily and prepared breakfast, served on the veranda, every morning. All the details were attended to this was a true first rate luxury vacation experience.

We adored our time at this beautiful home in Playa Portrera! This clean, spacious house is so well designed for a big group with many comfortable corners to curl up and read, nap or just take in the view. The bedroom/bathroom layout is ideal for multiple families/groups of friends, and the communal spaces are generously sized for dinners together & card games into the evenings. In addition to the beautiful house and great location (easy walk to restaurants, mercado etc..) we can't say enough about Arturo and the full team at the house that took such incredible care of us for our week long stay. From meals to massages to airport transfers everything was incredible and we felt so wonderfully cared for. We can't wait to come back - one of our favorite spots ever!

It's hard to summarize how amazing this stay was! Everything from the ride in, to the property, to the staff and manager, to the on-site amenities, to the shuttle out was incredible and seamless. It was the perfect, easy, relaxing vacation. The property is BEAUTIFUL, well-maintained, conveniently located (walking/biking distance) to local shops and restaurants, very spacious and spotless. It had anything and everything we could think of including; kayaks (life jackets), fishing gear, paddle boards, snorkel gear, golf cart!, bikes, private pool, grill, awesome ice-maker, smart TVs, WiFi, an incredible amount of seating areas (loungers around the pool, cabana, balcony over-looking the yard with ocean-view, front balcony, room balcony) fully stocked kitchen, and all the toiletries, towels, and supplies you could need. The on-site manager is amazing and super responsive to anything we needed. His warmth and hospitality made us feel like family the entire time and made us sad to leave. We opted for some of the additional services provided (breakfast chef every morning!, dinner chef one night, on-site massages on the balcony, shuttle to and from airport) and couldn't have been happier. We will definitely do all of those options again (and more) on our next stay! The only bad part of the whole stay was having to leave. We are already scheduling our return trip with the manager and coordinating with more family/friends so they can share in the experience. This was by far the best VRBO trip/property we have ever booked. Counting down the days until we can come back!!

If you are looking for paradise on earth, look no further! I hoped it would look like the pictures, and this place was even better. The pictures truly do not do it justice. This rental is perfect for all ages! But what is really special about Casa Surfside, ARTURO!
Before we even departed for Costa Rica, the property manager, Arturo, was so helpful! He responded to my messages in a timely manner, made suggestions, answered questions, and helped us get booked at the best prices for amazing adventures! Arturo speaks excellent English while having invaluable knowledge of Costa Rica to help make your trip incredible. Once in Costa Rica, Arturo checked in with us daily if he had not heard from us! I have never stayed at a rental with such incredible concierge services included!
This property is so spacious with an open layout in the home, a huge wrap-around deck overlooking the ocean, and a massive yard complete with a swimming pool. It is so private, inviting and relaxing. The pool area is an oasis itself, with an excellent speaker system, comfortable seating and even a canopy swinging chair! Step out of the gate and you are on the beach! The beach was glorious with soft sand and a gradual increase in depth perfect for swimming. We took advantage of the kayaks, paddle boards and boogie boards this property has for your use! The yard is full of trees, flowers, and lush green grass which brought many delightful sites such as butterflies, hummingbirds, and even monkeys! Having the friendly Howler monkeys right on our property for a day was a highlight for my family!
We enjoyed walking along the beach to get to restaurants, taking the bicycles out to explore the adorable little town of Playa Potrero, driving the golf cart to dinner and fishing in the nearby river!
The house is updated, clean, welcoming and so comfortable. The kitchen is better equipped than mine at home! The beds were comfortable for a good night of rest. The large deck has many places to sit, hammock, and relax with a good book! There is onsite laundry, which we did need to use after our muddy ATV adventure!
Just thinking about our stay, I get a big smile on my face. Costa Rica is magical, and staying at Casa Surfside only made it better! We made so many family memories together. This rental gets raving reviews from the teenagers too! We would 100% chose to return to Casa Surfside. Maybe next time, we'll try it out as an adult only vacation, which would be spectacular too.

We were so thrilled with everything about our trip. It felt like we discovered a hidden gem. The convenience from the Liberia airport was < 1 hour door to door. For outings on the water, there is a marina just down the beach. We took advantage of that for a catamaran/snorkeling/dinner cruise, which was amazing! We saw sea turtles, star fish, sea urchin, just to name a few highlights. We were able to walk down the beach for dinners, lunches, discovering quaint beach side restaurants and bars. So fun! We took long strolls on the amazing beach. There is a sailing school just down the beach that will take you out into the protected bay, which makes it an ideal place to take up a new hobby.

Our stay could not have been more perfect. We landed in Liberia. Within 1 hour of leaving the airport we were at the house and relaxing next to the amazing pool. The house is spacious, clean, updated, and located on a beautiful beach. The property meets up to the description and better than the pictures on VRBO. The house is well equipped for an active vacation. The bicycles, paddleboards, volleyball set and kayaks were an added value to staying here. What topped the trip off was the night our host arranged for a private chef to prepare dinner for us in the house, complete with bartender. The food and the drinks were amazing. The house manager was amazing and helped us with all of our needs. The house is also within walking distance to several bars and restaurants. Quaint little town for a perfect relaxing vacation. We will definitely be back.

We loved Casa Surfside! This was one of the best vacations we have ever had, and this house definitely made it so. Right on the beach, we enjoyed incredible sunsets every night right from our balcony while sipping cocktails. Our kids were boogie boarding from morning until evening, and we laughed around the huge dining table every night sharing meals. The house has a spacious open floor plan and plenty of bedrooms for multiple families, dining areas inside and outside, and a pool. There are stand up paddle boards, boogie boards, kayaks, bikes....and Potrero Beach is perfect for strolling any time of day. There are beachside restaurants within walking distance, which is a fun way to catch the sunset on your way to dinner, too.
Our on-site concierge Arturo was just the best! He was available whenever we needed him and had great suggestions to make our trip phenomenal. It's clear he has been living in Guanacaste for many years because no detail was too small. He arranged our drive to and from the airport, and helped us book ATV adventures, zip lining, private chef experiences, and day trips to other nearby towns. At the grocery store, he came in to help us (which was much appreciated!) He's so thoughtful - he knew how excited the kids were to see howler monkeys, and he pulled the van over during a trip when he spotted them in the trees so we could all get out and take a closer look. By the end of our stay it felt as though we'd known him forever.
Casa Surfside is a delightful and relaxing home that includes all the essentials and then some. The daily cleaning service was thorough, making the house look spotless every day and constantly providing clean towels and sheets. (Having on-site laundry for our use was so helpful as well!) Our family had the best time together creating priceless memories and this house is definitely on our must-do again list!

We watched a troop of howler monkeys right outside our door. This location was the absolute best. The wildlife was spectacular.
Very close to amazing restaurants and activities. We were also just a short drive to Tamarindo which was a great place to explore.

I’m struggling to put into words how amazing this property truly is. From the cleanliness, decor, layout, location, kitchen items, views and overall communication/support - it truly checks off all the boxes. Staying at this house was a highlight of our trip! There are so many beach toys readily available for all ages and the beach sand is the softest we have ever felt! So many great restaurants near by and close to the airport. The property manager is incredible and offered many resources/recommendations. We never go back to the same place as we like this keep challenging status quo, however this place is going to change that. We cannot wait to get back!! We cannot recommend enough.

Casa Surfside was a small slice of heaven and an unforgettable vacation destination! We want to thank you for an adventurous, amazing, and relaxing time, while staying in your place in Costa Rica. The beautiful house is finely appointed, spacious, and exceptionally maintained. We loved the open floor concept, with the large windows that invited the ocean view and sunshine into every room.
We appreciated your kind, professional, and helpful staff. We looked forward to the delicious breakfasts served on the welcoming wrap-around veranda, from where we could see the vibrant colors in the garden and the meandering path leading to the beach. We enjoyed watching the ocean waves gently rolling in, along with the tropical butterflies and hummingbirds fluttering around the garden. What could be more relaxing than observing nature, while sipping a gourmet cup of coffee in comfy chairs on the veranda? The garden area served as a scenic backdrop for your gorgeous oasis and made for memorable pictures!
We were able to select from myriad adventures near your property. The Property Manager was quite accommodating in providing direction for our excursions, so that we could enjoy Costa Rica to the fullest! The ocean was perfect for swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The soft sand made for endless beach walks. The crystal blue bay was truly breathtaking. And being out on the water was amazing – the bright, orange beach umbrellas always guided us home! We loved the thrilling ATV trail ride, relished in an afternoon catamaran tour, caught many fish by the Catalina Islands, and indulged in some incredible boutique shopping and delicious restaurants both on and off the beach. After our outings, it was relaxing to return to lounge in the private pool.
We made the absolute most of our time in Costa Rica and look forward to returning to the beautiful sunsets. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
