About this house rental
Casa Wabi-Sabi is the ultimate sanctuary in the center of Merida's historic district, just 2.5 blocks from La Ermita Park and San Juan Park and about 5 blocks from the main square. Named for the concept of appreciating the beauty in the "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete," this space embodies tranquility and simple pleasures.
Casa Wabi-Sabi is conveniently located about 2 blocks from La Ermita square and 5 blocks from the main square and Cathedral. La Ermita is a quieter neighborhood with some cobblestone roads and the square was originally the beginning of the royal road to Campeche. The church, Our Lady of Good Travel or Santa Isabel, dates from 1748. The zone comes alive each year around the Day of the Dead, which makes it the perfect place for experiencing this holiday.
The entrance from the street leads into a shared lobby and seating area in which you may see our staff or other guests passing through. Down the hallway and to the left, you'll find the entrance to Casa Wabi Sabi which opens directly into your private home. The home has 3 bedrooms all with queen sized beds and en-suite bathrooms. The open concept living space and pool area is completely private.
Air conditioning is available in all bedrooms and the living space, but you might not need AC. The house has an airy and light feel with large glass doors that go all the way from floor to ceiling bringing the main living area and the pool and patio area together. True indoor-outdoor living at its best.
The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need if you want to cook. We provide you with basic kitchen equipment and appliances including a toaster and coffee machine so that you can fuel up with a satisfying breakfast to start your day. Coffee, creamer and sugar is provided -- no need to run to the nearest mini-mart for these basics. The house also has a washer and dryer.
All of our guests are welcome to the entirety of the home and have access to use anything on the property including the kitchen, pool, and any other amenities.
While Casa Wabi Sabi is not shared with any other occupants or pets, the entrance from the street and lobby is shared. You may see our staff or other guests in this area.
In addition to your own private pool and patio area, there is another outdoor space towards the back of the property with outdoor dining, barbeque grill, and sun loungers. This additional outdoor space is shared with guests from the property next door. Burro y Flauta manages and rents both properties in this complex.

The propery was spectacular and the hosts arr very responsive and attentive. The space has beautiful rooms, bathrooms and common areas. Great kitchen and amazing dipping pool for hanging out. Short walk to the Grand Square and lots of shopping. Easy to get taxis or walk to most spots. It was really an amazing find for us. I will recommend it to anyone i hear is going to Merida. We absolutely loved it!

Cant give it enough stars. The hosts and staff were absolutely amazing and property beautiful. It was our first time to Merida and you made it a wonderful experience from beginning to end. I highly recommend and would without a doubt stay at any of their properties.

Less than Classy Act
I ordinarily do not post reviews (or when I do they are glowing and really reflect a positive experience), but I just had to post this for those that are coming here without really knowing what they are getting into...
Firstly, this is a beautiful oasis. Genuinely well appointed with beautiful decor and items that demonstrate a flair for art, culinary gosso, and a garden that is supple to the soul!
However the people who run this luxury tucked away eddie biddie tiny space run it as though it were a property in the US, and this is México. I feel it is important to be upfront in the advertising, and thus I felt called to post a review about their inflexibility on their check in and check out process, as well as the cleaning and upkeep staff that are mandatory services which must come into the property during your stay. As my partner and I are busy professionals with online services which run round the clock, this presented us with a straight up challenge. I asked management if those services could be forgone so we could not have our meetings interrupted and was met with an abrupt NO, and an offer for a refund. In fairness, I do own and manage properties and know what pool service is required for upkeep, and I can say with confidence it was not an urgent need. We had booked and scheduled our meetings already so we decided to stay, however it was intrusive (pool people came in without even knocking) If you are okay with people showing up for pool service without knocking (they have their keys), being under survelliance (cameras for filming on in entryways), and having to have a mandatory in person check in-check out with a tour, then this property may be a place to consider....
HOWEVER...
What may be an even greater deal breaker is that surrounding this chinadoll like space is one lofty-high Vaulted apartment just alongside it (which has a direct view peering into the kitchen, back deck, and yes, even the pool (thinking of passionate moments or a romantic getaway poolside with your beloved? Think again.. as there are plain view vantage points from above looking down and we were stared upon by construction crew and the rental party who rented the space) where parties happen at all hours (my partner and I barely slept and actually called the local Police to come knock on their door due to loud music and drug usage just outside our window between 1am-4am).
There is no hot water in bathrooms or parking. Unfriendly staff!

This was the best vacation ever. Becca and Beto saw to our every need and beyond. Make sure to order the in- home meal as it is fabulous and we ate leftovers for 2 more days! We loved the Cenotes at Santa Barbara and Chichen Itzá is a must. We will return next year - great location with breakfast within walking distance as well as San Juan park. Thanks so much to everyone at Burro y Flauta.

CasaWabiSabi more than met my expectations. The house was recently remodeled but kept to the local historic style. All the amenities you could ever need for a family. We were met by Alberto of Burros y Flautas (the property management), who was a pleasure to meet and very responsive and helpful in all ways. The house is very close to the city center, which provided for outings for shopping, dining, and lots of culture and history. We also rented a car and never had any issues finding parking right in front of the house. My family of 4 + my mother stayed for 5 nights. The property also has a beautiful backyard that was ideal for relaxing and also worked out great for having family in the area visit us and hang out. Included was plenty of filtered drinking water. We did have one minor issue of lack of hot water in the rear bedroom 3, but Alberto and his team quickly addressed the issue. We could not have asked for a better property in the beautiful city of Merida.
