Peaceful location, we were visited by both a dog and cat.
It needed to be aired prior to our arrival, it was musty in its smell, fine after we opened windows

The house is very cozy and small, but gives enough room for six people to cook, eat and spend time together. Everyone was just so nice and helping a lot where we needed it; such as lighting the fire while we're gone to make sure it's warm inside when we come back or showing us how to use the gas oven. We were also given lifts between the busstop and the house (for a small fare) which was very helpful. Things like the smart TV, electric blankets or adapters were greatly appreciated as well and we really enjoyed our stay! :))
The rooms on the ground floor were quite damp and we had to clean some of the cooking utensils before using them.

After four hours of being lost, we finally contacted our gracious hosts to come get us, and Brian and his sweet girls drove the 10 minutes to the pub with welcoming smiles on their faces! They were such a great sight for sore eyes! We were so so happy to see them!! And relieved 😌. Apparently all we needed was the air code in our GPS! We'll have remember that for next time!!
Elaine and Brian were so much fun to talk to and were so helpful. The cottage was a fantastic way to experience old Ireland for our first time, with all of Elaine's artistic talents on display around the whole property. It was so quaint and fun. The cottage was clean, and full of everything and more that you would need, including heated bed pads for those chilly damp nights. Although the weather was not great, there was a beautiful place for a bonfire! And lots of country roads, farms and castles to see and explore. The Lough Gur (lake) was only 10-15 minutes away and so beautiful to explore with all the ancient trees and historic sites to see.
Getting lost- lol, but it was all about the adventure!

The area is lovely and I found the towns of Hospital and Bruff very nice. Hospital is quite a historic place. Its approximately 35 minutes from Limerick City so quite convenient , and approximately 20 minutes fom Adare Manor.
The Cottage gardens are very nice and tranquil.
My initial interaction and thoughts on the owner of the Cottage was that he was helpful. However on our first day we discovered that the TV wasn't working. I rang the owner who informed me that the previous group who stayed there had stolen the TV remote amount other things. A replacement remote was to be given to us on the Wednesday, this was the previous Saturday. He asked if any if NY party was 'techy' and if we could calibrate the One4All remote. I did manage to calibrit after 4-5 hours..There was no washing machine, no oven, no grill, and a microwave that was black inside, it resembled mould. We were a party of 5 so cooking and clothes washing was required. I admit the owner had messaged about this prior to my arrival but I hadn't seen his message. An offer was made to wash our clothes, generous and kind, however its not something we would be comfortable doing. I in a text to the owner stated a few of these problems, constructively and with diplomacy. He arrived at the door seconds later enraged and was quite aggressive with my husband. It shocked us and left me feeling threatened. The following day we arrived back from the European Championship games we were attending only to find the Internet non functioning. It was functioning when we left that morning. I texted the owner and his reply was nasty! He accused my husband and I for tampering with the router. The owner had notices up regarding the router and also in his welcome manual which I'd read. We certainly tampered with nothing however later discovered that it had been switched off. I rang him to explain that we had tampered with nothing and he 'roared' at me, told me that my husband and I were horrible people and asked ne to get out of his house. I was shocked but explained that we had paid until Saturday, this was Wednesday. He then still shouting said be out of my house by 11am Saturday then cut me off mid sentence.

I was there with my two adult daughters and their children, ages 2 and 9 months. It was perfect for us because we were able to put the children to bed and then spend time together in the living room talking while being able to listen for the children.
The backyard area was perfect for the two year old to expend energy and we enjoyed sitting around the fire pit.
Because of the age and history of the cottage I felt as if we were visiting with our Irish grandparents and I love that concept.
We were there during an unusual warm spell and I just found out from my daughters that their upstairs bedrooms were hot. I slept in the downstairs bedroom and it was perfect. Had I known at the time that they had been uncomfortable I would have contacted the owner and I am sure he would have given them fans or something. He had installed a baby gate at the top of the stairs for us because of my concern about the two year old.
