While 11 Middle Rider may leave you wanting nothing more, the Mountain Village and Madison Base areas are each a 5-minute drive in either direction with numerous options for shopping, dining, ski rentals, lift tickets, and a small grocery store. Big Sky's Town Center is only a short 10-minute drive away, where guests can find additional options for activities, restaurants, retail, and local escapades. Be sure to check out dog mushing, Nordic skiing, snow shoeing, a sleigh ride dinner at a local ranch, go on a snow mobile tour, or check out Yellowstone National Park. In the summer, choose from fly fishing, horseback riding, local ATV tours, hiking trails, rock climbing, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, golfing, white water rafting, weekly farmer's markets and free concerts. One of the best parts of this location is the proximity to Beehive Basin, truly one of the most scenic hikes in Big Sky. This home truly is the perfect retreat for all things Big Sky, Montana.
Ski Out:
From the garage, walk directly forward to the groomed trail, then proceed down the trail across Middle Rider Road and onto the groomed access below. Follow this trail (labelled with small green signs with “B” on them) down and to the left until you go through the tunnel to the White Otter chair lift. Ride White Otter to the top and cross White Wing to follow signage to the Big Sky Base area.
Ski In:
Follow White Otter Access to the rope tow for the Cascade. Take the Cascade Lift to the top and climb the stairs to a groomed trail (labelled with small green sign with “B” and parallels Beehive Basin Road) that will take you back to Middle Rider Road (make a quick left onto “D” trail and 11 Middle Rider will be directly left – the house is very close to the turn so don’t miss it 😊).
Not recommended for snowboarders or young children as the ski in/out are about 10-15 minutes long depending on snow conditions. The home is not ski in/ski out if Cascade lift is not running. The start date for Cascade lift varies, but typically early to mid-December. Access lifts may close before Big Sky Resort's closing day depending on snow conditions.

The pictures on Vrbo look amazing but it looks even more amazing when step inside the house. The house was perfect in all aspects and had everything we needed for a group of 8 of us. The ski on was awesome and just a short walk to an actual trail that will take you to the base of the mountain, was very cool to ride through the trees with houses around us. We got a lot of snow during our stay so make sure you have all wheel drive cause the driveway is uphill

Wonderful property. Is very much ski out. Ski in is harder and takes time so leave early. But either way worth jr for the view and amazing house

The property is beautiful and in a great location for proximity to Big Sky. It feels very private and the views were stunning! Our group of 7 adults does like to cook and the kitchen was well stocked and easy to cook in. The beds and living room/lounge areas were very comfortable with more than enough space for all of us. The home is advertiser as ski/ski out which is why we chose it but it does have disclaimer on time of the year. The week we were in Big Sky got into the 40s for multiple days with no snow and very little on the ground (base at mountain was 25 inches) so while the ski out was possible (albeit icy), the ski in wasn’t doable because of rocks and not enough snow cover on the trails. However, we found driving to Big Sky and parking in the commuter lot (group of 3 or more), very easy - it’s a 5 min drive. Most of the locals we spoke to said these were highly unusual conditions for end of January and not something the property owners can control!
One thing that would make the property even better would be some benches in the garage to put boots and gear on along with a better ski/snowboard rack.
It’s a wonderful property and would come back for another Big Sky vacation!

The house was amazing! Very clean and had everything we needed! Only part that wasn’t perfect was the Ski in to the mountain wasn’t bad but the ski out back to the house was very difficult. Otherwise it was an amazing place and would definitely come back! Thank you!

Enjoyed our stay. Great views and great property

The house itself was amazing. We did not realize how far from the slopes the house actually is. The ski in ski out was really inconvenient. As was the driveway. Otherwise excellent.

We had a great stay in this spacious mountain house. Cooking for large family was fun in this beautiful kitchen. Lots of room and lots of views! Easy access to Big Sky Mtn village and Beehive Basin trailhead. Thanks for a great stay.

This stay was amazing. Everything at the house was perfect!

House is great and well stocked, although kitchen utensils were a bit lacking. Major issue is that house was advertised as “ski in/ski out”, which commands a premium price. It was ski out, but definitely NOT ski in, required taking skis off twice hiking up steps then long cross country trail back to house. Not practical at all with kids or those not in great shape.

This mountain home was absolutely beautiful. From the amazing view to the high end finishes and appliances, this house hit the mark! I would highly recommend this chalet to families or friends looking for a beautiful and comfortable home in a great location. The check in process was easy and we even had someone shovel the walk-ways and plow the driveway multiple times during the week we stayed. We never ran out of firewood and the hot tub was great after skiing. 5 stars all the way!
