About this villa rental
Nestled in the mountains, just a 15-minute walk from the pretty whitewashed village of Canillas de Aceituno, Villa Amores has spectacular panoramic views over the Sierra de Tejeda to the blue Mediterranean in the distance.
The house offers spacious accommodation and wonderful seclusion, perfect for those looking for contemporary comforts combined with rustic charm.
The ground floor is built in an open-plan layout. The comfortable and spacious living room has a central fireplace. Adjacent to the living room is the dining room and a fully equipped kitchen.
The interior is light and airy with beamed ceilings and French doors from the living-dining room open onto two terraces, where you can enjoy the beautiful views, relax, unwind, sip a cocktail or a glass of wine and enjoy the sunset.
In the hallway you will find the family bathroom with bath and shower, a downstairs bedroom (2 single beds), a useful wardrobe/storage cupboard and the stairs to the top floor.
Upstairs, the landing leads to 2 more bedrooms (both doubles). Both bedrooms have their own dressing rooms and en-suite shower rooms.
Both bedrooms have access to a very large roof terrace, with stunning views of the valley, the Mediterranean, the village and the Sierra de Tejada mountains.
The living room and bedrooms benefit from fully equipped air conditioning, which also has a heating function. In addition, we have underfloor heating during the winter - November to March.
Outside, the covered terrace has a built-in electrical barbecue making it ideal for outdoor cooking, and the walled pool/sun terrace with an 8 x 4 pool ...
In summer the pool is heated naturally by the sun, in spring, autumn and winter the pool is not heated.
A winding path leads down from the upper terrace to the rest of the garden, including terraces, hammock, our "retreat tree", a small grove of carob, almond and olive trees, a cactus terrace + (recently planted) mango, avocado, fig , orange, lemon and lime trees.
The house is within walking distance of the picturesque village of Canillas de Aceituno. The village has a good variety of shops, bars, restaurants and other amenities. It is one of the most beautiful villages in the region. More shops and restaurants can be found in the nearby village of Vinuela.
Velez-Malaga and Torre del Mar are a 20-minute drive away and the Mediterranean Sea is just a 5-minute drive away.

We had two weeks of rest and relaxation in this wonderful villa. Our second visit and the changes made by the new owners have made the experience more enjoyable (electric barbecue is excellent and overcomes local fire restrictions). We will never tire of the peace and tranquility plus wonderful views across the mountains to the sea.

The villa is very well equipped (especially the kitchen) and the internal space is very comfortable. The terrace and pool area is ideal for a family group, with a good outdoor dining space and fantastic panoramic views over the surrounding hills. The villa's orientation makes it great for enjoying the sunset from the terrace. The garden is also lovely and well maintained (albeit on a steep slope). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Great well equipped villa and pool set in the mountains. So peaceful, stunning views. 20 min walk to village where you find all you need including bars and restaurants serving very good local dishes..(and burgers). Would definitely come again.

Our stay was nothing short of perfect!! We played in the pool like small kids (we are 3 generations of women), slept like babies in the rural quiet and made lovely dinners from local ingredients from the village.
The tiny town the villa is a part of is something out of a movie, the mountains -marvelous and the ease of travel in and around the area -incredible.
We can’t say enough positive things about the place!!

The property was excellent. The location was stunning and was a great base for visiting other tourist areas.
The beds were super comfy and we loved that there were essentials provided such as toilet roll, kitchen roll, washing up liquid and cloths, dishwasher tablets cling film, salt, pepper, oil etc.
The pool was great for cooling off.
The small road leading up to the villa was a little terrifying as I don't like heights, but my husband, who was driving, said it was fine.
The rooms were hot at night, despite the aircon, but then Spain was experiencing a heat wave at the time of our stay.
The villa was a real home from home and beautifully decorated with locely finishing touches. The brand new bathrooms were fantastic!
We would definitely recommend.

The villa itself is very well presented with 3 spacious bedrooms, nice open living / dining and kitchen area and a great outdoors communal area for eating, relaxing, topped off with a fair sized pool. The upstairs bedrooms share a large balcony and the nightsky view from there is spectacular.
It is a tricky drive initially to get there but you do get used to this and when you arrive you are met with spectacular scenery making it very worthwhile! Just ensure you hire an adequate car.
There is a nice village 5 min drive away, with a few bars and restaurants but plan ahead and get your bulk provisions on route as the village only has a very limited selection. Don't worry all of this information is made clear by the owners if you book including good directions on how to get there and where the nearest supermarket is on route etc.
In summary this is not a beach location and beaches are around 45 mins drive. But it is a tranquil, resplendent setting that makes this space a little more special, a great find.

Beautiful Villa with amazing views. So peaceful with a lovely village just a short distance away. We booked very last minute and George, one of the property owners, was so helpful. Would definitely recommend this property.

Lovely villa with a pool over looking the beautiful mountains. Peaceful and relaxing. The hosts were fantastic. Great communications and very helpful. The villa was nicely decorated and had everything that we needed to relax and enjoy a family holiday.

A Fantastic house with a nice view and quietness. We were traveling with our sons at 14 and 16 years with their friend and girlfriend so all together 6 persons. Vila Amores are perfekt for this with 3 nice bedrooms with their own bath rooms. The outside area is really nice and the pool and view is fantastic. It is very clear that George and Daniel have put big efforts into making this a welcoming extra home.
There is a nice litle village nearby with good resturants and bakery and minor shops for grosseries.
We had a few questions before and during the stay and George answers within the same hour. The coordination with George and the welcome material was very good and eventhough we came late after dark it was easy to get there. You will need a car though
A place we highly recomend and would like to come back to

Loved our stay at Villa Amores - the views from the balcony, crystal clear water from the pool and nicely laid gardens. The house itself looks like it has been there more than 100 years but George, the owner, told me the house was only built 20 years ago - all facilities including dishwasher were available (but not visible) - super!

This house is a real gem. Unobstructed mountain views , sometimes even the sea is visible. We liked the well equipped kitchen a lot since we prefer to cook rather than going out for dinner. The house is perfect for a party of six and with a party of four like our it’s even luxurious. We recommend renting a SUV if you don’t have any experience with dirt roads (the one that leads from the house to the main road) its just more convenient. We enjoyed it and loved the stay!

We had 2 great weeks at this house. The pool was a perfect size for our family of 5. We are an active family, so we went for a walk in the hills from the village. We ate at the restaurants in the village. The people living in the village was very friendly and accomedating. And we also enjoyed activities at the coast, so the house gave us both the peacefull and active vacation. George and Daniel was prompt to answer our questions before and during our stay. We highly recommend this house.

Excellent communication from property owners. Villa certainly matched the description and photos on website.

Just Fantastic! Beautiful property, so well equipped and stylish throughout. Stunning location, pool and gardens. Cannot fault communication with George, the owner. We totally fell in love with this villa and the locality. 100% will return. We were all gutted to leave this morning ❤

This was our second family holiday at Villa Amores. And it was even better than the first. The villa is very well appointed and is quite spacious. We took advantage of all the villa had to offer - morning coffee on the upstairs patio over looking the sea and long family dinners on the lower terrace. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.
2.5
We enjoyed the stunning views and the facilities at the Villa Amores. The local guide information pack prepared by George & Daniel was invaluable allowing us lots of ideas for places to visit and local restaurants.
The pool had most of the sun all day and it was a great experience eating outside too. The kitchen was well equipped and the Villa was spotless.
We had a hire car and was a bit apprehensive getting to it as we had to drive over a bump - I felt a car with a higher wheel coverage would be more suitable rather than a sports car or a car with a lower profile - something we would consider in the future ( crossover car or a 4x4). We found the owners very pleasant, organised and very helpful in assisting us with queries before and during the stay. We enjoyed the recommendations of Restaurant Sociadad in Aceituno and the lovely secluded beach near Nerja. We also walked around the lake and found a British Fish & Chip restaurant called the Town Frier which was excellent.
Thankyou for a lovely relaxing holiday and we would recommend Villa Amores for a relaxing, lovely holiday with splendid views across the mountains but not too far away from the coast.

We stayed at Villa Amores for 2 weeks from 18th August 2018. I'll start by saying how effortless the booking and communication was with George the owner. Always a prompt reply.
We have stayed in maybe 4 or 5 houses of a similar size in this area over the years and this is by far and away the best. From aircon that works and is quiet, the perfect large pool, beautiful furnishings and the best equipped kitchen we've ever had. Its also the quietest house we've stayed in and the views are just amazing.!
If you want peace and tranquility, beautiful views and a comfortable secure house then this is the one.
Its only 1km from the village and if you enjoy driving then the road down the mountain to the main road is great fun.
We had the pleasure of 2 small stray dogs who visited us and although my 9 year old has a general fear of dogs these 2 were just lovely. Very timid and shy and they didnt bark or jump up. We also watched 2 chameleons change colour in the vines outside.
The garden is lovely and a walk down the steps gives lovely views. This whole area is great for walking and I'd highly recommend the "Saltillo" walk from the village. I did it on a tuesday morning and didn't see a single person. Perfect!
It's very rare to find a house that ticks all the boxes but this one did for us. You wont be disappointed.

We had a fantastic holiday at Villa Amores, it is definitely one of the best houses that we have ever stayed at. The villa was as fantastic as the other reviewers have said, perched on the hillside you get amazing views and the sunsets are spectacular. The villa is immaculate and beautifully decorated, the outdoor spaces are superbly maintained and the pool was a firm favourite with the family. The walk to the nearest restaurant in the village took us about 25 minutes with the family, the drive down to the closest beach was about 30, which was quiet and there were plenty of bars and a few restaurants. George was very responsive in all of his communications and made sure that we had everything that we needed. We would highly recommend this villa and we’re looking forward to going back. Thank you George and Daniel!

A superb holiday villa, one of few that deliver MORE than the photos and description suggest. We visited at the end of October during rain and sun, with some chillier nights (but also some great sunshine in between). Villa Amores was warm and cosy with all the facilities you need (Wifi, underfloor heating, duvets, well equipped kitchen, cosy sitting room) even when the weather lets you down. There is a great covered balcony at the pool-level terrace from which you can enjoy outdoor dining even if the weather is less than ideal. And the views are fantastic - I could watch the light on the hills all day. Views are even more fantastic from the upstairs balcony - the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine at sunset (or moonrise - over Canillas after dinner). Peace, privacy & tranquility, but just close enough to Canillas town for evening meals on foot (a steep 1 km into town, but great on the way back down). We loved the pool (heated), and the kids enjoyed the waves at family-friendly Torre del Mar (30 mins), and caves & coast at Nerja (1 hour), and hiking up la Maroma mountain from Canillas was unforgettable! Booking and payment were easy and secure; George was always quick to respond by email. We don't usually go back to exactly the same place twice for holidays, but we'll definitely make an exception for Villa Amores!

First of all a big thank you to George - for the great communication and information we received before our arrival. No silly question of mine was too much trouble.
The house itself is an absolute dream. We stayed here in September for 2 weeks and seriously enjoyed the location, pool and house itself + the surrounding areas.
The house is tastefully decorated, was comfortable and had everything we wished for - a good kitchen, great BBQ and very comfy beds (much bigger than it looks on the pictures).
The first few nights we only sat on the terrace, and the sun set is beautful, peaceful and quiet.
We spent a few days at the small beaches near Nerja, highly recommended as it does not look like the beaches of the Costa del Sol with its horrible high flats.
We also took on the challenge to get to the top of the Maroma - it took a few hours but when we got there it was as if the world was at our feet, so peaceful, and then we had to get back down again...
The village of Canillas de Aceituno is picture perfect, small and very cosy. The 3 restaurants are certainly worth a visit. We also had lunch at the "Las Perlas" restaurant which George recommended - and indeed it was jummy.
Also the internet connection is super fast!
All in all a great holiday, and a house to return to...

This is a wonderful house, beautifully decorated and very well kited. We (4 adults and 2 teens) spent 10 todays this summer and enjoyed the house, the local town, the proximity to the sea and a not too long drive to Granada.
Villa Amores is decorated with incredible taste, it is larger than the feel you get from the photos. The rooms are very comfortable, the living room / dining room / kitchen area is large. We spent a lot of time in the outside terrace in the evenings looking at the sun going down across the hills. Of course we enjoyed the pool and the sun.
There are several places in the town to eat, a few bars and shops for basic food stuff. Half an hour drive there is a well sorted super market and the sea side.
We highly recommend Villa Amores and hope to return soon. George was very helpful and there is good information on the town and surroundings, plus a good bottle of wine upon arrival.
George, thank you very much for such a wonderful house, we have great memories to last a long time.

Our family stayed at Villa Amores for a week in May - much too short...
The house is wonderful and the location is amazing; the views over the mountains and sea (well visible on clear days) is breathtaking, as are the mature gardens and pool.
The facilities were excellent, all the rooms were spacious and very clean, very nicely decorated. We had a romantic 4 poster bed, which was soo comfortable.
The village Canillas is very charming and has all the facilities you need for basic food shopping, and 3 very decent restaurants to choose from.
We also visited the beaches at Torre del Mar, which are really nice.
George also provided us with information on other restaurants and things to do in the local area - thanks, very helpful!
We will certainly return if we come back to discover more of this beautiful part of Spain, and can only recommend the villa.

We stayed at Villa Amores late last year. The house is wonderful, 3 very spacious bedrooms, modern and clean but still with the character of a country house. The house, pool and gardens around the terrace too were well looked after. I understand from the new owners and the video they put on youtube.com that they have made some changes/ additions, which I really look forward to discovering during our next visit.
Also wonderful is the proximity from the village - a 20-30 minute walk uphill - to get to the 4 restaurants in the village.
We understand that the house has owners now so I contacted George to see if we can stay there again this year (2015) and yes we can - great communication by the way, well done!

Magnificent place. Incredibly beautiful sunrise could be observed while drinking your morning coffee or after having your morning swim done. Would recommend to have your vacation during a full moon if you'd like to make some
memorable photos of this brilliant getaway place :)
It is hard to imagine a better place to spend your vacation if you are into the charm of Southern Spain.
An incredibly beautiful, authentically designed and well furnished house, in combination with breathtaking views from the terrace, a perfectly decorated and stylish garden and of course a nice swimming pool and plenty of entertaining stuff for the kids.
On more practical notes - spacious and well-equipped kitchen for preparing meals, cocktails and tapas. Living room big enough for everyone as well as very comfortable dining area inside. And a gorgeous patio outside, shaded with ivy and scented jasmin.
The pool and its surrounding area was enough for our party of 4 adults and 2 children aged 8.
The bedrooms are great with plenty of space for clothes, the beds are comfortable and the upper terrace is great for some relaxation.
Overall a very pleasant stay, and a perfect communication with our wonderful hosts Heather and Colin. Thank you!
So, muchas gracias Villa Amores and hopefully see you soon again :-)

The first thing that strikes you when arriving at the villa is its location. With views up the valley to the village of Canillas and down towards the distant sea it could have been built with the phrase 'peace and quiet' in mind. Throughout the day the only sound to be heard is the tinkling of the bells of goats on the opposite side of the valley. If you were looking for a relaxing break then this villa is ideal.
Inside, the villa is beautifully furnished, with beds so comfortable my wife wanted to take the mattress home. Everywhere was spotless, both inside and out, clearly well-maintained, with the pool-man coming during our stay to service the pool. The furnishings gave the villa a really Spanish feel and added to the sense of relaxation. We immediately felt 'at home'.
The kitchen was well-equipped for those like us who enjoy cooking at home, but the village itself (only 2 minutes by car) has highly-recommended restaurants serving excellent Spanish fare.
The villa has an excellent brochure of the main attractions in this part of Andalusia with, especially the villages of Frigiliana and Comares worthy of mention, and a trip to the Caves of Nerja not to be missed.
A word of advice, though, if you are a culture-vulture and plan to visit La Alhambra in Granada. If you did not purchase your tickets before leaving home don't drive all the way there 'on the off-chance' of buying them on the day. Tickets are always sold out. We made just that mistake during our stay, though the city of Granada provided a good substitute visit.
Overall, I cannot recommend Villa Los Amores highly enough. It is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the coast to be relaxing, but close enough to
them to be within easy reach. This is 'real' Spain.

This is the second time we have stayed at Villa Amores, the villa is beautifully kept with everything you need to make it your perfect holiday home away from home.
Great communications from Colin & Heather regarding the local & surrounding areas, where to visit, restaurants to check out, what festivals are occurring during the season so that you don't miss out.
Very much appreciated the welcome goodies, especially the bottle of wine !
The pool is so beautifully clean and a perfect size to cool off and have a good swim.
There are two restaurants in the village both are good and both owners and their staff made us feel very welcome, we loved the complementary bottle of cava which we received from La Makaroma we thought it was a one off but twice we received a bottle after our supper so don't be surprised to receive complimentary drinks after your meal !
We love it here and even though we'd really like to keep it a secret we highly recommend the charm of the villa and it's wonderful location twinned with the helpfulness of Colin & Heather and there attention to detail.
If your looking for a holiday that gives you a peaceful escape with glorious mountainous views but is still close enough to the beach (approx 25 mins) with a little village close by to dine out and stock up on the basic's and if you like superb hiking tracks, and wildlife, and the challenge of cycling up and down mountains like my partner this is defiantly the place for you.
PS if you have time you must must must visit the Alhambra Palace in Grenada it is absolutely beautiful top tip getting to Grenada is fine but a Sat Nav will really help you navigate your way through the city centre up to the Palace and back out !
Can't wait until next year roll on August 2014 !

Wonderful accommodation, breathtaking views, pool, sun ...etc,etc....!
Highly recommended!

We stayed here for 3 weeks and loved every single thing of the villa, the village and the surroundings.
The villa is very well equipped and provides all the comfort you need for an unforgettable holiday.
We would love to return some day.
