About this cabin rental
Katahdin Cove Cabin
Welcome to our rustic and charming handcrafted cabin nestled in the heart of the Maine northern woods. Please take a moment to read through our comprehensive listing description to ensure a delightful stay.
Lakefront Paradise
This cabin is all hand crafted the traditional Maine way with lots of pine and cedar. Built in 1972 and is ~1300 sqft., 425 feet of stunning water frontage on Lake Ambajejus. Enjoy breathtaking views of Katahdin, Maine's highest peak. Explore two beautiful beaches, one in front of the cabin and another accessible via a wooded trail through the forest, leading to a private sand beach cove complete with a second dock. We have kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards available at the beach cove for your use.
Water at the cabin is pumped from the lake. If you choose to book, we send info about a local spring you can chose to get drinking water from.
Please bring your own beach towels. There are two beaches, one right in front of the cabin and another by a trail through the forest leading to a private sand beach cove with a 2nd dock.
If you are wanting to bring your pet, please mark you are bringing pets in your booking. There is a $250 flat rate pet fee. You are expected to pick up your pets droppings and no wet pets inside.
We provide you with wood to burn in our large fire pit and wood stove.
The Camp has 3 bedrooms upstairs. Two have a double bed and one has 2 twin beds. The loft and the great room have double futons. We provide sheets, pillows, quilts, hand towels, kitchen towels and a bath towel. There is an 1/2 bath inside with a private outdoor shower with lots of hot water and a view. There is an additional outhouse at the top of the driveway.
It is rustic yet has many conveniences. Running water is from the lake. There is hot water and electricity along with a fridge, microwave and electric range. Cookware, dishware and eating utensils are provided. There is a 4 burner gas grill.
There is a wood stove, electric fireplace and propane wall heater for heat. The original gas antique lights are still in the camp. These are delicate and cannot be replaced, please do not use them. Fireplace is not for warm weather months.
Please keep in mind that this is a camp and not a house. It is on a dirt road about 3 miles from pavement and the driveway is dirt so there is going to be dust. Keep in mind that you are in the wilderness and there can also be bugs, spiders, spiderwebs etc. We do our best to keep it as clean as possible but there is no way to keep it as one would a house. Please come with a love for the outdoors and an appreciation of what this spot has to offer. Built with a sense of adventure, love and fun in mind. My wish is that people can enjoy the full Katahdin/Northwoods experience and have memories for many years to come!
Ambajejus Lake is part of Pemadumcook Chain of Lakes that is 14 miles long and is the fifth largest body of water in Maine. It is still a true wilderness lake with much of it undeveloped. The loons are plenty and are one of my favorite things to look forward to as well as the resident eagles and many other birds and wildlife.

Cabin was rustic (as advertised), but was very charming, surprisingly spacious and comfortable, and it came well-stocked with everything our family of 4 needed for a great week at the lake. The property's stunning Katahdin views and interaction with the water (2 docks and a large private sand beach) were particular strengths. We would love to stay here again in the future!

My family and I had an amazing week! Great communication with Mandy with any questions. The camp was comfortable and had everything we could need. We loved the 2 options of docks for our boat, morning coffee and fishing on the front dock☀️swimming and the beach in the cove was a favorite of the grandkids!!!

Nice cabin for seclusion and quick enough access to Baxter State Park. Note this is a half bath house not full…only shower is outside so be prepared for that. Beautiful view of lake and Mt Katahdin. Beach area made for easy access of water on kayaks and canoes.

A very private absolutely beautiful cabin and location to unplug and reconnect with family - or by yourself! Quite a ways up there - but totally worth the trip!

The cabin was so great with amazing views and so many amenities. The outside shower was my favorite! The temperature on the beach vs dock out front can be so different! It was great to have so many outside areas. Easy drive to Baxter state park. We loved our stay :)

This was such a great spot on the lake with lots of privacy. Was great to have the cabin for a rainy day and the full kitchen and gas grill made dinners easy. We brought a canoe with a small motor to tool around the lake which was super awesome but you definitely need to be cautious of all the big rocks. Worst part was the mosquitoes but there was a breeze most days which made them minimal. Cool brewery nearby and some awesome river spots close as well to explore. Overall, everyone was super relaxed and happy to be there and would definitely go back!
