About this cottage rental
You can't beat the views and privacy from 5A!
Perfectly situated on the lot, with picture-perfect views of sunsets, Kaiaka rock, and Oahu.
Your cottage has a new kitchen (January 2023) and offers amazing natural light and sense of space from 3 walls of windows/doors and 20 foot vaulted ceilings. You can view the ocean from bed or sitting down from nearly every spot in the cottage.
You will have miles and miles of hiking trails and beaches just outside your door! Papohaku beach is nearly 3 miles long and you may find that you have it all to yourself. We love to walk over to Make Horse beach every morning to enjoy our coffee. Again, you don't have to go far!
Depending on the time of year, you may see whales breaching right from the sofa or the lanai. You will see turkey strolling across the lawn almost daily. It's good fun and some days it's hard to find a reason to leave the cottage!
The pool is nice-sized, super clean, and refreshing. It also has stunning panoramic oceans views. There are several showers outside to rinse off after a trip to the beach. The beach is very swimmable all summer with lots of sand however it is not recommended in the winter months due to higher surf, less sand and more rock exposed.
Privacy is exceptional in this cottage. With the exception of 5 B, there are no immediate neighbors, with good space between you and the nearest buildings on all sides. There are no buildings between 5A and the ocean, just a clear view to the water!
The cottages stand apart from the other units available here at Kepuhi Beach Resort. The 1 bedroom and studio buildings have 8 to 12 units per building. The cottage buildings are unique as they only have 2 units, with no one above. This allows for much more privacy, peace and quiet.
Parking for 5A is in the lowest lot, just past security to the left. No hills to descend (or climb) with your groceries and gear!
There is a small convenience shop (Da Store) here at the resort that offers some groceries, including snacks, and basic necessities. Although there is no alcohol sold here, it is open 7 days a week. A larger variety of groceries is available in Kuanakaki. By the way, there is no nightlife here.
Please note there are no AC units here in the condos at Kepuhi Beach Resort. Windows and doors are often open and you are almost guaranteed to see geckos inside as well as other bugs here and there. You will also have some dust get inside due to the trade winds.
The trade-off is the view, the pristine and private beaches, never-ending hiking, and a feeling that you are truly in "old Hawaii". If this isn't the right fit for you, no worries, a high-rise in Maui is close by! But for those who are curious to experience this wonderful island, or others who are returning, we welcome you to paradise and one of the best-kept secrets in the islands.
A few tips for your stay:
For groceries you can swing by the local grocery in Kaunakakai just after you land. It’s only 5 or 6 miles from the airport. The grocery is “Friendly’s” and they are closed on Sundays, open till 6pm other days. There is a small convenience shop on location at the resort (Da Store) open 7 days a week 9-5. They have more than you’d expect (no alcohol) but your main shopping should be done in town.
If you like to eat out we would recommend Hotel Molokai, it’s close to town (Kaunakakai). The restaurant is the only waterfront dining on Molokai and they have a good spicy poke plate or the catch of the day with veggies is always fantastic!
You’ll find the best beaches on Molokai all within walking distance from the cottage (west side of Molokai) including Make Horse beach, our favorite. 4 beaches are near the cottage.
One of the best views in Molokai is a very easy to drive and only a 2 min walk (all paved) from the parking lot! It’s Kalaupapa Lookout. We usually see it a few times every visit. It’s only about 10 minutes out of your way if you are headed to Kaunakakai for anything. Phallic Rock trail is also accessible from the same parking area and is maybe a half mile hike or so, pretty easy and an interesting story.
The pool is open from sunrise to sunset 7 days a week and has amazing sunset views!

Beautiful ocean front location, very short walk to the ocean or pool. Remote location (easy half-hour from town). Quiet and peaceful. There is a well-stocked convenience store on property. House is very well stocked, everything we needed and more. Jeff is a terrific host, thoughtful and VERY responsive. We will stay there again!

My husband I came here to unplug, relax, and appreciate the views. We had beautiful views of the ocean, access to the pool, and relative privacy. It was fantastic. The bed was a bit uncomfortable but I did not take off any stars for that. It is probably hard/expensive to get a premium bed on Molokai. It was more comfortable than the bed we slept on on the other side of the island... so if you are coming to Molokai you probably can't find a better place.

We had a great stay at Jeff's unit. Communication with him prior to our arrival was excellent and he provided a lot of information prior to our arrival. Self check was easy and unit was clean. Full kitchen with washer/drier and high speed internet was a big plus. Unobstructed ocean view from the patio made it hard to leave. We put our 9 year old on the pull out sofa bed which worked out great. Excellent BBQ grill 100ft away. The whole complex used to be an oceanfront hotel so many buildings are boarded up and we saw very few people which is a big plus. Pool was nice, clean, and most always it was just us. Even though this is a duplex unit and we did have someone next door, we never saw or could hear them....very private. I recommend Jeff's unit if you are looking to get away from people and enjoy empty beaches with fantastic nightly sunsets.

The condo/property far exceeded our expectations. It is a very special place. Calm, relaxing and comfortable. Clean; no issues with bugs, and enjoyed the occasional tiny lizard visitors. Love the two blooming plumeria trees!
Communication was easy; host is very amicable.
Really hope to return soon!
Thank you so much for sharing this special home with us!

I had an outstanding stay at 5A! Jeff was delightful to communicate with and super helpful. Y’all - this location CANNOT be beat. Especially if you’re looking for peace and quiet, with beautiful scenery that is not overcrowded, this is your place . The kitchen was very well equipped, which was especially helpful given the remote location and the fact that I preferred to cook most meals at the cottage. I especially loved being able to sit on the lanai each morning and evening to watch the waves. Easy accessibility for daily walks, and very close to the state’s largest and least crowded beaches - stunning white sand expanse of Pāpōhaku Beach (where I had a sunset completely to myself!) and also peaceful Kapukahehu Beach (Dixie Maru Beach).
This was my first trip to Molokai and found it to be special and quirky in the best way. I saw a bumper sticker that said, “Don’t change Molokai, let Molokai change you”, which was a perfect summary of the vibe.
I really don’t think there is a better unit at Kephi Beach Resort than this one! I feel so fortunate to have stayed there. Hope to return one day!

Beautiful, well appointed cottage on the west side of Molokai! An abundance of whales to spot from the lanai. Hosts have much love for their cottage and it shows!

Amazing property. Kitchen appliances and accessories were the best! Beautiful view! Quiet property— could hear the crashing waves all day and night. Was hard each morning to decide to venture out in the island, or simply stay put and enjoy the lanai and ocean. Molokai is not for everyone— but we found kind, generous people, delightful little cafes, beautiful scenery, incredible drives and trails, interesting farm tours, and this beautiful property!

We rented this cottage under previous owners, and were happy that new owners kept it in the rental pool. New owners are very responsive, and on-island representatives/cleaners are also helpful and available. The kitchen has been very nicely updated, and the added island greatly improves the flow and functionality. Hate to write this for fear of letting the cat out of the bag, but this is the BEST place to stay on Molokai!
If you are new to the island, be aware that red dust, bugs and geckos are to be expected, and are part of the experience. But so are peace and quiet, empty beaches, and friendly people.

We had an amazing stay at Jeff's place. The location is perfect for anyone looking for a chance to unwind and really feel those island vibes. The place is clean, new kitchen, and everything you need, including beach chairs. Peaceful mornings and amazing beach walks. 100% recommended beach side cottage.

The cottage offers amazing view of the ocean. I enjoyed the updated kitchen, well stocked with all kinds of seasonings. There are also beach chair and umbrellas provided, very considerate.
We also saw a juvenile Hawaiian monk seal sunbathing on the beach, which was terrific.
Mahalo, Jeff & Jennifer, for sharing your vacation home with us.

Listing is accurate and this unit is spotless. The sunsets, waves and birds made it the perfect place if you’re looking for peace ,quiet and solitude.
Da Store here had a little bit of everything except liquor.
Beaches were amazing with rarely another person to be seen. Also, on Make Horse beach be aware of the sleeping Hawaiian monk seals - I almost sat on one thinking it was a rock!

We enjoyed our time at this property. Its lanai has one of the best sunset views on the planet. The unit is in good shape and the kitchen was well appointed for cooking, which is important since the Kepuhi development is somewhat far from restaurants.
We would stay in this unit again.

Great stay at the beach. Uninterrupted views of the water. We were there during whale watching season and enjoyed the sunset from the lanai. Thank you, Jeff, for the wonderful week and well-appointed unit.

This cottage was well equipped and stocked for feeling right at home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and being able to hear the pounding surf, howling wind and pelting rain with some storms we had during our stay at the cottage. The view right out the front is so beautiful and it was mesmerizing to watch the big surf crash against the rocks at the south end of Kepuhi Beach. Jeff was responsive and easy to communicate with. I would love to stay here often! If felt like home to me.

The pictures do not do this place justice. If you’re looking for a beautiful place to connect with your family or your new spouse this is the place. Great unobstructed ocean views and sunsets. Surrounded by nature with trails, and tons of outdoor space. This cottage is steps from beautiful beaches that you will often have to yourself. Ocean views from the bedroom and the living room, and private patio.
This cottage has a remodeled kitchen and is well stocked. The owner was very responsive. The pool is refreshing and has an ocean view.
This is a way to get away from distractions and enjoy all the beauty Hawai’i has to offer.

This was the best unit I have stayed at on Molokai. The other units I've stayed at do not compar. 5 stars! All appliances worked, nice views, no complaints and it was quiet. Close to the beach and the store. Excellent communication with Jeff. We will look to book here when we are on Molokai again.
