About this apartment rental
Summary:
This 1-bedroom in-law suite overlooks Farmer's Arm, a quiet cove in scenic Twillingate. Once home to a Merchant and his family, this unit is an in-law suite attached to a larger rental home. The suite offers a quaint and cozy space to experience life in an outport community. You'll sit on your own private deck and watch the fishermen come and go, and maybe even catch the glimpse of an iceberg or sea creature.
The Space:
You enter this unit into the cozy living area/kitchenette. The bedroom is off of the living/kitchenette area and the full bathroom is accessed through the bedroom. The Kitchenette is more suited to cook small meals or a breakfast, its not suited for cooking very large meals. There is a toaster oven, toaster and a plug in two burner cooktop. There is also a large private deck to enjoy.
Guest Access:
The Little Cove shares a driveway with The Cove (or main house). Other than the driveway, there are no other shared areas.
The Neighborhood:
Little Cove is nestled in a part of Twillingate called Durrell. Locals refer to it as "down arm". Durrell was one of three communities that amalgamated to form the Town of Twillingate. The home sits on Farmer's Arm, a small inlet where the local fishermen come and go. The home is about 2 km from the heart of Twillingate, where you'll find most of the restaurants, shops, etc.
Getting Around:
It's most common for visitors to arrive in Twillingate by car. That said, it's a lovely area to walk around and the coastal hiking trails are not to be missed.
There is 1 parking spot in the driveway available to guests staying at Little Cove. The driveway is shared with The (big) Cove guests. The Cove is the adjoining unit, which is rented separately.
Other Things to Note:
The kitchenette is quite small and not really suited to cooking full meals. We've tried to make it as useful as possible in a tight space.
Interaction with Guests:
Managed locally, we're only a call/text away if you need us.

Host is great with communication and providing directions— which was good since our GPS gave out. Peaceful location and roomy. Good water pressure and comfy bed. BBQ available.

The suite was excellent for our requirements.

It was comfy! You need to know it’s not a full kitchen (which didn’t matter to us). Wish there was a paring knife (unless I missed it). Liked there was a TV for after a day of exploring. Loves the dinner theatre!

The accomodations were clean, spacious and comfortable. Location was great. The was a lot of noise from the suite next door when occupied but that was only one night. They were not being noisy, just talking normally, but there is no sound insulation.

Cute and quiet. Nice private deck with sea view. Comfortable bed and spacious bathroom.

Little Cove was exactly what we had been hoping for for our little getaway to Twillingate. It was perfect for two, with a very comfy bed, large ensuite bathroom and kitchenette that had everything you could need to make meals if you chose to eat in. It was clean, bright, and communicating with the host was super easy and we received quick responses. The check in and check out process was a breeze, and we were provided with very clear instructions for how to access the suite as well as directions on how to get there. It was also very close to hiking trails and all the amenities of Twillingate and yet the surrounding area was nice and quiet. It was the perfect spot to getaway and I can't recommend it enough for anyone looking to stay in Twillingate. Thank you for such a lovely stay!

I believe in personal touch. Communicating through email and not meeting your host is very impersonal. The condo was quite clean but having crawling insects and spiders crawling on the washroom floor was very disconcerting. We also felt the description of the property could have been more accurate. The kitchen definitely not what was advertised. Appliances were old with restrictions on use. Utensils were far and few between. You really couldn’t call it even a kitchenette. The sink was small which didn’t allow for washing dishes correctly. Outside was poorly kept up with bushes overgrown and dead weeds in flower pots. You couldn’t sit on the lower deck ( which was not shown in the vrbo description) and view the harbour or outer islands. Definitely a disappointment.

Very expensive rate

This is a comfortable suite with a partial kitchen that allows for limited food prep - hot plate and toaster oven. The building is comprised of two suites with limited sound insulation between them. You'll be about 3 kms outside of Twillingate, so a bit of a walk to the main action. The area is beautiful, with lots of trails along ocean vistas, craft shops, etc.

Nicely appointed! Great view and patio. Well stocked with everything needed. Quiet spot at the end of the road overlooking a pretty cove. Thanks for the hospitality.

Lovely spot with ocean view from the front window and deck.
The Ensuite was perfect- the bed was comfy- however there was not enough storage room and the staff had used the only dresser for stashing bedding and towels.
One night stand is not enough and we ended up using a kitchen chair as a night stand.
The living area is poorly equipped with only a pullout couch -once again, no storage, no coffee table, no nothin .
But the worst is the supposed “kitchenette “
The toaster oven is in a cubbyhole (a total fire hazard) with a hot plate dumped on top, which must be moved to the tiny counter- once it is up there there is no room for much else.
The mini fridge has no freezer so we couldn’t refreeze our ice packs.
Oh and the dinner plates will not fit in the bar sink.
There are no kitchen cabinets.
After we had left we received an email telling us the details for garbage disposal etc. I think these could be posted in the suite so people know ahead of time
I may sound overly critical but we had a vrbo for 23 yr on Vancouver Island and I know what we provided and upgraded over the years. We had no complaints in all that time.
It seems to me the owners ran out of cash to finish up the job properly.

The challenge was, finding it without an address and then getting an entry code. That was all a bit frustrating.
Once there though we enjoyed it very much.

Marie was very responsive to any questions we had prior to our stay, and directions to the place were very thorough. We were so excited to see a big iceberg just as we drove into Twillingate and stopped at the beach to take a picture. Another vehicle pulled right in behind us to do the same. When we headed off to Little Cove, the same vehicle pulled in to the drive next to us, as they were renting The Cove--quite a coincidence that we all arrived at the same time. Our part of the house was very clean and tidy, with a wrap-around deck and nice views of the inlet. Bed was comfy with lots of extra linens and towels in the dresser. Bathroom was enormous and stocked with good soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. We enjoyed walking around the neighbourhood taking photos of the waterfront and fishing boats. We stayed here for 3 days and I have to say I wouldn't recommend for longer stays if you are hoping to cook any meals there. The kitchen area has no storage, so any grocery items we brought that didn't go in the fridge had to stay in a box on the floor. There are no cupboards, and just a tiny RV-size sink to wash dishes. Perfectly fine if you like to eat out all the time, but we enjoy making a few simple meals to give our budget a break. There is a hotplate and toaster oven piled below, but no place to put them. We did use the gas bbq and enjoyed the deck, although the overgrown roses blocked the harbour view. Add some shelves, trim the roses, this place would be perfection!

Great accommodations. Kitchen could use a bit of work. Otherwise, excellent location and facility. John is an excellent neighbour and so helpful for me.

We really enjoyed the peaceful location and views of the Little Cove property.
