"Marsh-Mellow" may be just the home away from home are looking for! The home consists of 2400 sq ft of balconies, marsh views, and adventures galore! The home's prime location, included amenities and beach proximity will make spending your time beach-combing and sun-soaking an Ocean BREEZE!
The space
Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher) has become a RAPIDLY increasing vacation (and full-time!) destination for the East coast and beyond for many reasons. It’s a family-oriented beach with a touch of everything one might be looking for! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave! The home is on the North End of Carolina Beach and a short ride or long walk to downtown and everything that it has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, restaurants, and local shops of all kinds. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, restaurants, and local shops of all kinds.
If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or party boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is nearby, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday and FIREWORKS every Thursday. We welcome you to sit back, relax and enjoy yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for!
"Marsh-Mellow" is a three level 2400 sq ft home that has something for everyone! The ground floor greets you with parking for 4, a private shower stall that's perfect for rinsing off the sand you've picked up from the beach, and a storage area (a key can be found inside!) with a few beach accessories that our amazing owner has left (including a BYOP BBQ!) to add to your adventure! Ample space and charging for a golf cart exists, as does a small yard in the rear if looking for some grass to go along with all of that sand!
Take the staircase to First floor which boasts one bedroom (bedroom #1), a a full guest bathroom with tub (bathroom #1), and a private laundry.
The Second floor brings you up to a pair of master bedrooms (#2 & #3). Both "Masters" share an expansive panoramic balcony view of the ICWW Marsh. There are multiple outdoor seats to breathe in the salty sea air. One master has its own on-suite bath with a double shower stall (bathroom #2) while the other master shares a full bath with a tub (bathroom #3) with the "kids" room (bedroom #4).
The Third floor boasts a small open dining area, small breakfast bar, large modern kitchen, and living room ready to entertain without losing the views! A half bath (bathroom # 5) sits atop the stairs. Across from the kitchen resides another huge outdoor deck with an outdoor dining table and multiple seats to soak in and enjoy some of the most beautiful sunsets you've ever seen!
A few of the amenities provided by your Owners include courtesy soap/shampoo/lotions and large Aussie shampoo and conditioner are left in the bathroom of each bath as well. Also, a roll of TP in each bathroom, 1 roll of PT in the kitchen, 2 garbage bags per garbage, laundry pods, dishwasher pods, dryer sheets, hand soap, dish soap, a sponge, Cafe' Bustelo, Tazo Tea, and pure cane sugar in each kitchen. Additional items are likely on sight as well!
The home's THREE (3) QUEEN and TWO (2) TWIN + TWIN bunk's consist of either a plush luxury mattress or a new encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition mattress because we want all of our guests to be comfortable when it comes time to recharge.
Neighborhood description
Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island.
The home itself is short ride or long walk from Downtown Carolina Beach with its shops, activities and dining. There are fireworks during the summer every Thursday night, Movies at the lake each Sunday night, and local fairs around the lake each Saturday morning. Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and vacationers all looking to escape the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun. We truly have an amazing community!
Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesn’t even include the awing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more relaxing and less “adventure” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!
Getting around
There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has a number of vendors (such as Pleasure Island Rentals @ 2 N Lake Park Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428 (golf carts) and Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 107 Charlotte ave Carolina Beach NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all! After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

The HOME: Guests have full access to their own private HOME (never shared). The private drive(s), and yard are also made available solely for our guests to enjoy on your adventure.
PARKING: Each reservation will have access to (4) FOUR 8'x14' assigned off street parking spaces. Any additional community parking spaces would have availability on a first come first serve paid basis.
OUTDOOR STORAGE: Keyed access to the lower storage closet can be found inside.

GOLF CARTS
•To the county, golf carts are considered automobiles. Generally speaking, golf carts are NOT allowed on premises of ANY condo, condotel, or apartment. The same goes for trailers, motorcycles, etc. For SFR’s or properties supporting multiple vehicles, carts should be OK. However, be conscious that few homes have external outlets WITHOUT GFCI’S (which are code by today’s standards). Charging a cart on a GFCI will immediately trip the breaker, resulting in the inability to charge a cart amongst other repercussions. Gas carts will generally be the ideal rental option if in a home whose parking supports such.
•ALL suites are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. This includes porches, decks, balconies, and walkways. Please smoke well away from any SWRE property unless willing to risk the potential loss of deposit or more.
•The home is equipped with a front door ring security camera to ensure safety and compliance if applicable.
•Please always consider TRAVEL INSURANCE from your respective booking site or vendor to help protect your costs in case of inclement weather or last-minute travel complications (court, illness, etc.). Awesome property to enjoy for this vacation! We wanted something big for the family and walking distance to the beach. This was it! It was super clean, very nice and comfortably fit everyone. Happy to come back to this one, for sure.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Great access to the beach and to other things in the area. Very quiet neighborhood and they were all very respectful. The amount of stairs to get from entry to top floor was the only potential negative but we are all capable.

This home offers a stunning location with easy access to the beach. Just walk out the front door, cross one street, and you’re there. The marsh on the other side is quite beautiful, although it was dried up during our stay. The house spans three stories, making it unsuitable for anyone who dislikes stairs. The kitchen is on the third floor, the laundry room on the first, and the bedrooms in between. The air conditioning worked well on the first and third floors, but the middle floor, where the bedrooms are, was quite hot. This made it uncomfortable for sleeping, especially for me, as the bed was small and uncomfortable. While the house was generally clean, it was quite dusty in many areas, which was disappointing. It’s unfortunate the cleaning standards aren’t higher, as this is a lovely property. We also experienced issues with the Wi-Fi; despite an attempt to fix it, we were without it for our entire stay. This was particularly frustrating with kids who rely on internet access for entertainment, sleep amd relaxing, forcing us to spend more money on movie outings. The kitchen could be better equipped with more pans and utensils. I prefer cooking with my kids instead of dining out, but the limited kitchenware made this difficult. Despite this, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the closet stocked with beach gear. My son mistakenly packed a beat-up wagon, thinking it was ours, which I’ll return on our next visit in a few weeks.

It was a wonderful vacation filled with memories! House was decorated nicely and had a amazing view of the marsh! We will definitely be staying here again in the future. I appreciated the consistent communication from the owner as well.

We were conveniently located to the boardwalk at carolina beach along with very accessible beach access. The house was very clean and it felt like home away from home. Highly recommend to stay here if you get a chance.
