New mattress

3 story pastel orange beach house with white trim. Less than a mile walk from the beach. This second-floor private suite has 1 queen bed and 1 full bath with private kitchenette (NO STOVE) and queen sleeper sofa. This space is located on the front of the house where there is a full 30ft covered porch. Great for a family of 4 or two couples looking to get away.

**The listed rate covers up to 2 guests. Additional guests will be an additional $50 per night, per guest.

MAXIMUM OF 4 PEOPLE – NO PETS ALLOWED ** No Pets this unit. See either of our other 2 suites if you want to bring a pet.

The entrance is located up the stairs on the left side of the deck to the second floor covered porch. Studio includes a queen bed, kitchenette with dining table for 4, seating area with queen sofa bed and smart TV. The only other living space on this floor is another studio on the rear of the house with its own entrance. No common spaces.

** ANY additional guests not marked and paid for at the point of booking, I reserve the right to cancel the booking at the point of check in without refund.

Accommodations offer a hair dryer, Smart television and starter rolls of toilet paper and paper towels. Kitchenette includes apartment size refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, cookware/dishes/utensils, and a standard 12 cup coffee maker (filters provided)

No smoking of any kind (no vapes, no e-cigs). Any evidence of smoking in the suite will incur a cleaning fee of $350. If you must smoke, please do so outside and away from other guests. Dispose of cigarettes properly (do not throw in the yard).

** Parking is a premium on Ocracoke and we only have 1 space available per suite. Please, no trailers or very large vehicles. ** Let us know if you will bring/rent a golf cart while you are staying with us.

Bicycles, golf carts and other 4x4 vehicles available for rent on the island. (Lots of options for rentals)

Ocracoke Beach Outfitters has beach gear, baby items, bicycles and other items for rent if you forget something for your stay. They are within walking distance of the house.

The house sits in the middle of our little island 30 miles off the mainland accessible only by ferry boat or airplane.

There are 3 ferry lines that service this island. Cedar Island, Swan Quarter and Hatteras. Cedar Island and Swan Quarter vehicle ferries require reservations and a small fee (see the NC Ferry Reservations website to reserve your date and time). The Hatteras vehicle ferry is free and first-come, first-serve. You may have to wait in line at Hatteras. The schedule for all ferries and reservations for Cedar Island and Swan Quarter are on the NC Ferry website (ferry.ncdot.gov)

No franchises are allowed on island so all the fish markets and restaurants are locally owed as are most all the businesses, family owned and operated. Restaurants get their fresh seafood directly from the local fishermen daily.
There are various festivals and special events throughout the season. Check out the Ocracoke Observer community newspaper website (ocracokeobserver.com) or Facebook page for up to date information on restaurant openings/closings and special events. This house sits within walking distance to it all.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a family friendly space with house rules and quiet hours posted in the rental agreement that you MUST read prior to booking. It's not a loud party house and OWNER reserves the right to cancel the booking (removing the guests), with or without refund, of any guests who do not abide by these house rules or demonstrate a lack of care towards the property or others while here..

Would recommend this rental for any couple looking to visit Ocracoke. It was perfect for our needs, as we were only use to sleep and prepare ourselves for going out. We had already planned on eating out for our meals, so the lack of having a proper kitchen was not a factor. Both the bed and couch were comfortable and there was ample space to move around so we never felt cramped in the studio-style setup. If we were to nitpick and find fault at all with the accommodations, it would be the reduced water pressure in the shower, but it got the job done which is all that matters. Our only negatives over the 3 night trip were all external factors out of anyone’s control as our trip was during the waning effects of Hurricane Debby. If ever we have the opportunity to try to vacation in Ocracoke again, we would definitely stay at this accommodation again.

Red Beard’s is a very nice property and we would stay again. We expected a little more cooking capability in kitchenette, but it was fine. We brought a grill and griddle. We cooked and ate on the specious front porch. Parking is tight if other guests have large vehicles, which they did during our stay, and the neighbor across the street parallel parks. The owner was very easy to contact and was responsive.

Apt 3, on 3rd floor. The building appeared to be under some construction as materials were laying around on the ramp and deck. Parking is a challenge with larger vehicles. Overall, place was clean and right in village area for biking places. Would stay here again. Never contacted property management for anything so 5 star rating to submit review.

Ocracoke in the early spring is always a treat and this visit did not disappoint. Red Beard's Retreat is a little gem one block off Hwy 12 across from the village Variety store. Our unit was comfortably furnished and check-in was seamless. We had everything we needed and the housekeeper, Maria, lived upstairs and was always available to answer any questions we had. It was obvious that much time and thought went into the furnishing and design of the unit. We plan to visit again next year and hopefully, we'll be able to book our unit again at Red Beard's Retreat!

Eric’s condo was great for my husband and I to get away for the weekend. We were able to walk to everything in town (1/2ish mile walk), brewery 1718 and Howard pub are just around the corner and driving to the lifeguarded beach is a quick few minutes away! Mini fridge was all that was needed for us as it was just the weekend and we ate dinner out but enough room for drinks and lunch items. Not much for cooking but didn’t need that. The balcony was great! Eric was easy to communicate with and gave us a full run down upon arrival which was great! He has some beach things and bikes for guests to use. The condos are apart of his home but all have their own entrance, common stairway. Overall a great place for a couple to stay. Thanks Eric!

Eric’s property is perfect for chillin in Ocracoke. Centrally located near everything you want to do. He has all the beach and fishing toys you could imagine. Get away birthday trip Eric was a great host he made sure we had everything we needed and he offered his own bikes and other beach things for us to use if we wanted to The house was very clean and had everything that we needed to enjoy our stay and close to everything it was so fun just riding the golf cart around the village to everywhere we needed to go the beach entrance that we drove onto with our Jeep was just right around the corner we had a lovely time the water was clear and beautiful what a beautiful place to visit thank you so much Eric for having us in your home we enjoyed it we plan to come back

We had a great stay at Eric’s property. He gave us a nice tour when we checked in, and pointed out all the extras - such as bikes, beach gear, and the beautiful hand-tiled shower! We actually ended up staying an extra night in the downstairs room because we were having such a great time. The house is a short bike or drive away from restaurants, the lighthouse, and the beach. Eric was so accommodating and kind, and even brought us fresh picked figs to take home! Great place for a getaway to beautiful Ocracoke - we can’t wait to come back!

My two brothers stayed at this property during our visit. Open studio with one queen bed and a pull out sofa. It would be tight with a 3rd person. 2nd floor unit was clean, newly remodeled, very nice full bath and outside balcony with chairs. Kitchen didn’t have a stove, just electric hot plate, so not ideal for preparing meals. Location was close to main street into town and to beaches. Enjoyed our stay.

Our stay was short, but my husband and our children stayed for 2 nights. Our host was very accommodating and encouraged us to reach out with anything we may need. Location was perfect. All in all it was a great stay. (The only thing I will say is if you have issues with stairs the stairs are somewhat steep. It was not a problem for us at all but my parents would not have been able to clinb them so just something to consider. )
