About this lodge
Looking for an escape to the High Country? Need a base to explore the region or just to stop and relax by the fire? Only 20 minutes from Mansfield, Howqua Lodge is private, peaceful and perfect for groups. Abundant wildlife, impressive views of the Howqua Valley, relaxed and comfortable... this is a great venue for a reunion, walking/cycling/bike touring groups, family gathering, fishing trip, naturalist groups or a peaceful retreat.
Walk down the hill to the Howqua River (or use the 4WD track - weather permitting) for swimming and fishing. The large dam is also suitable for swimming with an additional BBQ shelter nearby. There are multiple walking tracks through our private native bushland to spot kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas and lyrebirds. Lake Eildon is a very short drive away, as are the walking trails in the Howqua Valley. Guests are welcome to gather around the large outdoor fire pit and take in the magnificent views. At night, you can marvel at the stars whilst enjoying the tranquil serenity of the bush.
Accommodation is provided in The Stables, offering 4 bedrooms with a combination of double, single and bunk beds. Please note linen is not provided. BYO bedding and towels.
The fully equipped kitchen allows guests to cater for themselves, with a generous dining table to share your meal with family and friends. The lounge features a large open fire for warmth and comfortable couches to relax on at the end of the day. The undercover outdoor area offers a gas BBQ and a wood-fired oven which is great for cooking home-made pizzas or roasts.
Offering a true getaway from urban life, there is no wifi, no tv and phone reception limited to Telstra. Enjoy the beautiful views while sitting around the fire pit after experiencing the outdoor activities our region is famous for.
A peaceful, grounding place, Howqua Lodge is a true escape.
You will have exclusive use of The Stables regardless of your group size.
Our home, garden and facilities areas are not available to guests.
Ashwin Road and our driveway are undulating and unsealed, but very well maintained. Please drive carefully when wet. Plenty of parking is available on the property with room for boat trailers.
This is not a party venue, we do not host bucks/hens parties or similar events.
Pets are allowed strictly by prior arrangement.
No hunting or shooting permitted.
