This chalet-style log cabin on a 40-acre cove will quickly become the quintessential vacation spot for you and your loved ones! Enjoy the very best of Vermont's wilderness with the home's direct Lake Champlain access, private beach, enclosed yard, large meadow, and private gazebo with lake views. Being one of the few houses in the Chaplain Islands with sandy beaches, and the only house on Isle La Motte with that privilege, lovely days in the sun are always possible. Making your stay that much more magical, the Milky Way is visible most nights of the year.
When you aren't enjoying a lake day with the cabin's floating dock (available seasonally May - September), kayaks, or paddle boards - check out nearby Fiske Quarry Nature Preserve, Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge, and Goodsell Ridge Nature Preserve. Other landmarks include the wildlife refuge in Swanton and Saint Anne's Shrine. Outdoor enthusiasts will also be thrilled to learn there are nine different state parks (such as Alburgh Dunes State Park) and five golf courses in the area to explore as well. Hikers can take advantage of the access to VAST trails in Alburgh and NYSSA trails in Chazy for scenic adventures. Bikers will adore trekking on the Lake Chaplain Bikeways route, and winter activities are similarly abundant with the area's stellar ice fishing and snowmobiling opportunities. For those who prefer the thrill of skiing, eight different ski resorts are within two hours away at Bolton Valley, Smugglers Notch, Jay Peak, Sutton, Bromont, Whiteface, Sugarbush, and Stowe. The island also has two boat ramps within a mile, while a third is approximately five miles away, something boat owners are sure to love.
Lovingly cared for, from the moment you enter the home, you will take notice of the natural light streaming in through the large windows. Throughout the cabin's interior, you'll find hints of rustic charm mixed with modern conveniences. Gather with your loved ones in the living room to watch your favorite streaming services on the TV. Or, show off your culinary skills amongst the kitchen's stainless steel appliances and fun backsplash. Full and content, head for the sunroom/screened-in porch where you can play a game of cards and swap stories. Outside, lounge blissfully in the hammocks or set up a cozy campfire on the beach. Summer days are especially breezy and comfortable thanks to the northwest wind carrying cool air, a perfect complement to the unobstructed lake views. Additional interior amenities include partial air-conditioning, a private washer/dryer, high-speed internet (a rarity in Isle La Motte), and a level two electric car charger (30 amp, 7 kW).
Ensuring larger groups can enjoy the space, a separate beautifully furnished studio is located above the garage. Highlights of the studio include bamboo flooring and a Jotul gas wood stove.
As evening nears, gaze out at the mesmerizing sunset views from the floor-to-ceiling windows inside, or outside on the lake's sandy shoreline over a beach campfire.

This is THE quintessential lake house! Beautiful high ceiling and views, great kitchen and we loved the long dining table. Lots of rooms so everyone had their own space. We also loved the fire pit on the beach!

This house has a wonderful location with direct access to a private, sandy beach that is great for kids. Location is more isolated which is nice for a quiet vacation with little kids. Need to be careful as some people drive down the road pretty fast but it is a nice road for walking and biking. Also liked the house had a lot of split pumps for efficient AC and the kitchen was in good working order.
For the cons: when we arrived to the house it really was not cleaned well and overall just felt dirty. The bed linens were clean but the main living area was dirty, dusty and covered in dog hair and cobwebs. We actually had to clean when we got to the property. In addition the washer and dryer do not appeared to have ever been maintained and the washer has such a strong smell of mold almost to the point where it isn’t usable. We kind of had to do laundry cause we have young kids but caveat it makes your clothes smell like mold. Both washer and dryer need to be replaced ASAP. The house in general just needs a deep cleaning and to be decluttered a bit. We did appreciate that there were some children’s games and toys.
So overall we enjoyed our stay, there are some really great pros to this property and the location is tough to beat. Just a few issues with the cleanliness to improve on. We would definitely consider staying here again.

We had a large (12 people) family group at the cottage for a week -- it was perfect for our needs, and a gorgeous location!
The only recommendations we would make are that some of the supplies (such as toilet paper) were limited, there clearly were mice around the kitchen area at some point (and in the box with the life jackets), and there is a hole in the lawn near the side door that twisted some ankles.
Overall, we LOVED the place and plan to go back.

We had an amazing experience in this upscale retreat on an undiscovered lake. The location is perfect--the island only got power in 1970, yet it has fast, reliable internet, a modern yet rural-styled A-frame house, access to amazing French-Canadian and New York grocery stores within an easy drive, a PRIVATE BEACH in a sheltered lee perfect for swimming with kids or making smores by the bonfire.
We shared the residence with some friends, and were able to each have a ton of space to sleep, read, rest, and bathe, yet hang out together in the huge common space and enjoy the sunsets.
The common space has cozy couches, a gorgeous modern kitchen, floor to sealing glass that somehow has no drafts.
This is the place to rent. You won't regret it!
