Lovely overnight stay. All very good amenities. Room excellent.

The room I had requested when I booked had been allocated to another guest. Our room was uncarpeted apart from a thin rug under the bed elsewhere there were painted floorboards which made it echo and lacking in cosiness. The bed mattress and pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. We were at the front of the building overlooking the car park and outside seating for the pub which was noisy until after closing time. We were woken at 7am by the linen delivery/collection at with the metal cages being dragged in and out of the property and the lorry which went on for so long we were wide awake and unable to go back to sleep. The staff were all friendly and helpful however and breakfast was very good.

Fabulous stay. The room was airy and clean, with lots of little extras to make us feel special. The bed was a super king size and very comfortable with the added bonus of a teddy waiting for us.
The staff were super friendly and we had a free drink upon arrival in the bar.
We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and both were excellent as was the service.
Check out was simple with no hidden surprises.

Friendly efficient check in. Good room service from a very cheerful young team. Excellent breakfast. All in a lovely unique setting with lovely walks straight out of the door and superb beaches a short drive away.

Our first stay at The Duchess of Cornwall Inn and we wont stay again.
It's perfectly situated for a stay in Dorset to tour the County. We booked it as it's a recent built 3* hotel (2016) and expected it to provide current standards for a modern building.
It's clearly been Eco-friendly constructed and is particularly attractive both inside and out.
However our stay was made miserably on the warmer days we experienced.
Night time temperatures in our 4th floor Indulgence plus room measured at 28'c for 3 nights. The air conditioning was set for 19'c but we couldn't feel any effect from it. Instructions next to the controls advised keeping the windows shut for best effect - it was worse, the temperature rose - we had to open the window and some cooler air dropped the temperature back to 28'c.
Ambient temperature for hotel rooms is 21'c.
We understand this country can have heatwaves but in todays changing climate, buildings of this age should be constructed to adapt to this.
After the 2nd sleepless night I approached the check-in desk and asked if anything could be done, basically the answer was NO.
We considered moving to another hotel but we were unable to find a vacancy, so we endured our booked stay.
Our last night the temperature had fallen to 25'c - with the window open - as a result of the night time outside temperature falling to 13.2'c (information obtained from a weather station 300mts from the hotel).
Other facilities at the hotel were as expected.

Excellent hotel and such a unusual urban extension of Dorchester.

It’s very nice, if you can find it. On Sunday there are no buses into Poundbury so you have to walk through the development. There’s minimal signage and few people around to get directions. The B&B itself is quite nice and my room,#8, was quiet with a view for miles over the countryside. Ideal location to catch the local bus to Lyme Regis.

We had an excellent stay however the room was not as clean as we would expect. The toilet was very stained at the bottom and the furniture had not been cleaned thoroughly. There was lots of dust.

Experience at the hotel was marked by its stunning beauty and convenient free parking amenities. However, the check-in process left much to be desired. Despite the bustling atmosphere at the pub entrance, where main check-ins are conducted, the wait to be attended to was longer than expected. Moreover, discovering that the room wasn’t ready added to the frustration, culminating in a significant delay well past the official check-in time. This hiccup, following a lengthy journey, marred an otherwise promising stay.
The room itself boasted delightful views and thoughtful touches such as complimentary tea and coffee, enhancing the overall experience. However, the serenity was disrupted when the fire alarm sounded during the stay, causing understandable concern. Compounding matters, the following morning brought disappointment as the stoves were non-functional, depriving guests of a hot breakfast. These unforeseen issues detracted from an otherwise enjoyable stay, highlighting areas where improvement is needed for a seamless guest experience.

A nice hotel in an unusual town.
A god stay.

Nice comfortable room, quality toiletries, nice soft towels and very clean.

We stayed in room 3 for one night.
There are good and bad points. Hence the average score based on the price and expectations.
Good - we liked the decor and the quirky touches like the kettle, radio, night lighting, pillow options and air con. The bed was comfortable.
Poundbury has nice shops (gallery / garden centre) and cafes nearby including a handy Waitrose. Parking was convenient.
Bad - we had to ask twice to be given shower gel. There are no phones in the room which meant going downstairs twice to flag which was annoying after a long drive when we wanted a bath and had already flagged this 3 hours earlier.
We expected face cloths in the room and both myself and my husband slipped getting in and out of the bath so think they should have non slip mats.
Food wise we were underwhelmed - especially at breakfast. There were no bowls or plates out for fruit and no jams, marmalades, honey etc on the table. All the food felt like it had been thrown in the deep fat fryer and was greasy.
For both breakfast & dinner we had to flag staff to serve us.
We paid nearly £180 and think we would have got a nicer breakfast and room at a b&b for half the price.
Sure the bedroom was nice but the bathroom hadn’t been properly cleaned - there was a huge hair on the tiles, stains on the ceiling, one of the taps was missing the cold button sign. Little things but when you’re paying a luxury price you expect more.
In short I wouldn’t stay again as I feel it was over priced.

We stayed for 3 days / 2 nights and wanted to use the hotel as a base for house hunting . There was no internet available throughout our stay which was a serious issue as we were receiving emails from local agents. The lift was out of action so my wife who has a heart condition had to climb 64 stairs to our room. At breakfast we had to ask for milk orange juice and dishes as there were none available. I cannot drink coffee or tea but was told that mint tea was not available. The cutlery was dirty .

Lovely place very close to friends we were visiting.
Food very good and reasonable priced. If your staying overnight was abit pricey.

Lovely contemporary site. Rooms very comfortable. Food great

Exceptionally well looked after by staff members, nothing was too much trouble. Food and service were excellent, well looked after, without being over the top. We were in room number 20, and we had views across the square. The room itself was clean and comfortable and a pleasure to stay in.
