**Now hosted by Owners!! This is the same great cabin that has been available for rentals since September of 2021.
Walnut Hill Cabin is an accessory dwelling unit ((ADU)) in the form of a historic Appalachian cabin, located on a large 7-acre property perched above Downtown Bryson City.
The cabin has its own designated parking space in a shared driveway with the main home's driveway and the parking space is marked accordingly as "Walnut Hill Cabin" parking.
The main home (Bryson Views) is also available to rent! The 2 properties are within walking distance of each other. Each rental has its own private entrance and plenty of space between them for peace and privacy for all guests. Pictures of both properties can be seen in the photos.
The main home offers a covered walkway with a walking path to Downtown. Cabin guests are welcome to use this path to walk to shops and dining in Downtown Bryson City.
DOG FRIENDLY! ***Walnut Hill Cabin is dog-friendly for one (1) dog per stay.** We cannot approve requests for more than 1 dog due to space limitations. A $50 pet fee applies upon booking. *** We do ask that dogs are crated if left alone in the cabin to avoid any damage to the property.
If you are unable to crate your pet, please take the dog with you when you leave for the day. There is a large green space just below the cabin which can be used to walk your pet, we simply ask that you clean-up after your pet.
***Bryson Views house guests also have access to this green space. Dogs must be leashed at all times when outside. No pets are allowed in the main home so if rented together by the same group, pets must remain at the cabin, on the cabin grounds or at the outside of the main home. ***
Walnut Hill Cabin and the main home, Bryson Views can be rented together for a total of 13 guests. Perfect for larger groups or family gatherings. Contact us for more information!
Once parked in front of the Walnut Hill Cabin parking sign, Guests have access to the walking path to the cabin, access to the entire cabin, cabin deck and green space below the cabin as well as access to the walking path to town via the main home's exterior covered walkway. **Note: there are about 5 stone steps from the driveway to the cabin walkway. There is a handrail at the steps.
Hosts are just a call, text or email away for any needs during your stay. We are happy to respond between the hours of 9 am - 7 pm. We have local staff who can tend to emergencies. Please allow extra time during weekends and holidays.
Guests will need to confirm the rental agreement via email prior to your stay. Maximum occupancy at the cabin is 2 guests + 1 dog.
Cabin was fully renovated in 2021, featuring modern amenities in a quaint, comfortable space.
The cabin has a split wall unit for AC/Heat which operates with a remote control as well as a propane fireplace on remote control. Full appliances include a fridge, stove/oven, microwave and dishwasher. Bathroom offers a heat lamp with the vent fan and a modern, walk-in shower.
***Setting Expectations!! Please be aware -- Walnut Hill Cabin is surrounded by mature trees and lush landscaping. Even though we are within walking distance of Downtown Bryson City, the cabin is in a mountainous area of Western NC, in Swain County, where 87% of the land is federally protected through the National Park Service, one of the many reasons people visit here, to enjoy the outdoors.
We have various insects and wildlife in this area - wildlife that we and other guests enjoy seeing and hearing, such as groundhogs, foxes, squirrels, deer and beautiful songbirds -- these birds rely on insects to survive; therefore, we do not use toxic pesticides or chemicals on our grounds.
We do use ultrasonic pest prevention devices inside the cabin and at times, perimeter pest control on the exterior of the cabin to prevent unwanted insects inside. Heavy rains or prolonged rainy weather will wash away the perimeter pest control. Rain can bring a couple harmless bugs inside regardless of a spotlessly clean cabin.
We make every effort to offer an excellent experience for our guests. Good reviews are critical to our business. If you are averse to finding a bug on the floor or in the bathroom, you may want to consider booking a hotel room vs. a cabin in the woods, as most, if not all cabins and homes for rent in this region will have some type of insect in or around the property, especially if unoccupied for a few days. We would love for you to stay at our cabin! We simply want to set the expectation and kindly ask that you let us know upon check-in if there's an issue, rather than leaving a negative review about insects.
**Sound carries in the mountains! You may hear dogs barking several streets over; you may hear the Great Smoky Mountain railroad trains running in the early morning or coming back to the station in the evening hours; with the Harley-Davidson store at the opposite end of downtown, you may hear motorcycles and other sounds of the town while outside, or inside, if you open the windows, during your stay. We are not an isolated cabin in the woods. But you'll have the best of both worlds if you book with us!
**EV charging station is walking distance to the cabin - EV charging address is: 235 Main Street in Bryson City, in the parking lot of the Swain County Visitor Center & Museum.
**Property has exterior security cameras in shared areas outside including the driveway/parking area as well as the shared path between the house and cabin.
Guests understand that there will be a $350 damage deposit for the main house and a $400 damage deposit when renting both the house and the cabin together. This amount will show as a pre-authorized hold on your credit card used to book, 2 days after check-in. If there are no damages to the property beyond normal wear and tear, the pre-authorized hold will be returned to your credit card no later than 7 days after the hold was placed.
Please bag and dispose of waste in either of the 2 waste cans by the driveway.

We had a great stay here, not only was it sparkling clean and cozy, but a great location! We walked to our destinations most days. The owner of the cabin lives in her own home on the same property and we saw her a couple times, she was always friendly and asked how our stay was going. She even left a bottle of wine for us when we arrived. We would definitely stay again!

We booked last minute and really lucked out! Besides the normal things you wish for such as being really clean, safe and affordable it was adorable. The host was very responsive and even gave us great recommendations on the area when we asked. It’s perfect for two people who needed some time away to reconnect!

Wish I could give more than five stars. We loved everything about this cozy cabin. Super clean, everything in like new condition (appliances, dishes, etc.), very comfortable bed and owner, Colleen, could not have been a better host with excellent communications. Very close to town with a pleasant short walk but plenty of privacy. We spend a lot of time in Bryson City and are so pleased to find this new gem of a place.

Beautiful little bungalow set just above town. Easy walk to all the shops and restaurants. I fished while my wife browsed the shops. Tuckasegee river runs right through town, Cherokee, the Smokies and the Nantahala river are all 15-20 min away. Bryson City is fly fishing ground zero in western NC, a very cool mountain town. This cabin suited our needs perfectly, we will surely be back!

We absolutely loved everything about this studio cabin. The unit was immaculate and comfortable. The property was our very own park like sanctuary. While rocking in chairs or sitting on the front deck you will enjoy wildlife frolicking on the amazing property. We stayed three nights and enjoyed the property so much we tried to book another night on our way home. Colleen was our VRBO host and was so helpful and responsive..she even provided dining recommendations. We highly recommend reserving this little cabin. If I could give this unit and customer service 10 stars I would. Believe me, you will not be disappointed!
