It is a cozy, comfortable room. Nothing extravagant, but I’m only looking for a clean place to sleep. This fits that need.

There are little too many homeless and drug users but inside of the room is renovated and pretty clean. Staffs are all nice people.

It appears this motel is under renovations slowly. The pictures on Expedia and online did not reflect the room I was in. My room had old stained carpet, suspicious discoloration in the shower, and burn holes in the decorative bedding. The one plus side is that it was quiet. Just to be aware when booking.

Staff was friendly and helpful.
Our “family suite” was excellent. Essentially a 2 bedroom suite with kitchen and family room. We were pleased to have so much space!

Very noisy area with lots of noisy traffic but our room was surprisingly quiet. Strongly recommend requesting a room on the back side of the motel not facing the busy street. Not the best part of town, lots of homeless doing drugs on the sidewalk within a block of the motel. Didn’t feel comfortable being off the motel property in the evening. Glad we didn’t have a vehicle to worry about.

The rooms have been renovated well. The room was very clean and looked amazing. The beds were comfortable and the room rates weren't inflated like other nice hotels in the area. We will staying at Harbour Light Motel every time we travel through Nanaimo.

Good stay for the price. Lots of homeless people around the property. City needs a cleanup. Huge number of druggies in the city. There is a huge responsibility on the city and community for rehabilitation.

I liked the poetic 'Harbour Lights' name and that the property was conveniently located close to the Nanimo Harbour as well as being directly on the Trans-Canada Hwy. It is conveniniently close to the down town as well as to the Petroglyphs Provincial park. Although the room was small and run down, the sheets, towels and rest room were clean and curtains were new. What I didn't like was that the facilities are worn and unattractive (e.g., the carpets are stained, the base board heating metal is bent, one of 4 light bulbs was burnt out in the washroom). The room had two double beds, a small table and chair, a mini fridge, micro-wave, coffee-maker with several coffee pods.) The Staff were business-like but had me pay BEFORE my stay (??) I guess that saved on having 24hr staff as, when I inquired the next day re: my early a.m. departure, they said that I could just drop the key in through the door slot, which worked out fine. They also ask you to take out your own garbage. The room was basic but functional. Thank you, Harbour Lights.

At first, I considered the cheap price(CAD $154) during summer vacation season. But it was under my expectations. Motel is so old and sabby. Particularly room floor's carpets were soooo dirty and towels were smelly.
If I go Nanaimo again, I should pay more to choose better accommodation.
